A 2 night stopover , glad it wasn’t anymore. Reception staff made a big deal on they had upgraded my room but wouldn’t have liked to see the original as this had flakey paint on walls and cracked bathroom tiles. Dreadful back of hotel room overlooking an alley so kept blinds down. On plus size , linen was clean, was a kettle and fridge and bottled water provided daily. Is in a good central position for MRT , orchard road, eating places and Singapore museum. Didn’t use restaurant in hotel as seemed very limited and saw people walk in and walk out without stopping . Is excellent food court a minutes walk away . Although advertise a pool it’s not as clean as photos show, I tried , pool itself was clean but surrounding area had black mould and needed a scrub, I slipped on steps and badly bruised my hip . I went to reception to say I had fallen and to ask if they could get me some ice, girl not helpful told me they didn’t have ice and I should go outside to buy some. As a senior I was lucky I didn’t break my hip . No warning signs as to potential slip risks on pool surround. An adequate hotel but in urgent need of refurbishment and a bit more awareness of heath and safety of guests.

The checking in is a breeze and the hotel actually provides such packages which I think I awesome.

There’s an outdoor jacuzzi which I think needs more privacy as it was raining when I was there.

The price is really good for a deluxe room with bathtub and the lotions they provide smells of lavender which is relaxing.

Overall, it’s a good stay

This is a basic yet affordable hotel. I paid $334 for 3 nights which I found much more reasonable than surrounding hotels. The room is small but everything you need is there. Bed is comfy, shower has great water pressure and is hot. Fresh towels, toiletries and water bottles supplied daily. Service was great and staff are lovely. Very effective air con. This hotel is in great location - convenience stores extremely close by, MRT is close as well as a 10 min walk to the Raffles Mall. Only negative - there were a few small stains on the bedsheets, aside from that I would recommend staying here if you want an affordable hotel.

Hi Louisee, Thank you for leaving us a review. The team is glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and hopefully managed to explore most of the city given our centralized location. Duly noted on the shortfall in cleanliness experienced during your stay. We have counselled the team as well as the vendors to be more diligent when preparing the room for our incoming guests. Looking forward to welcoming you back to the Hotel Bencoolen in the near future.

We had a very nice stay at this hotel. Location makes this even better, Downtown MRT line is just next door and many attractions and markets are just at walking distance. It only takes 15 minutes to reach Harbourfront MRT station from hotel for reaching Sentosa boardwalk. Will surely book again next time I am in Singapore.

I had a staycation at hotel Bencoolen last week, it is near Bugis area where we can comfortably shop and enjoy delicious food, although the hotel is a bit old but the room is still acceptable, especially I really like the hotel's mattress it was very soft and gave us a good night sleep. The hotel lobby is always greeted with a warm welcome as well as smiles and greetings of concern where we went and what we ate by the front desk Ms. Amy and the security uncle, which made us feel like we were at our own house. In particular, Amy always accommodate my needs while my wife and I were there, even one day the door's key could not open, she went up and down countless times to change the key even she tried her master key still didn't work, she finally informed my room lock the battery is dead. More specifically, she went down to take equipment to help us change the door lock battery when the maintenance guys were end work earlier. It amazes me that a receptionist can do this in such a zealous state and always smiling when it's almost 11pm night. Her smile when helping us as well as her apology when the door could not be opened made us very satisfied with the hotel's service. We will definitely be back one day soon. Thank you!

I stayed in this hotel between 10th and 13th November in a Family Room

Pros:
1. Good location with MRT station(s) nearby.
2. Bedding, bathroom and overall maintenance of the room was good

Cons:
1. Careless customer care: Two issues
A. I have informed the hotel (by phone, email and agoda notes) that I will check-in late and the hotel missed to make a note of it. When I arrived, they said It was a no show and no room is available. I had to show all the email and agoda proofs and finally got a room after ONE HOUR of my arrival.
B. My room intercom was not working and when I complained the receptionist said 'he will try to fix it by his maintenance team and will try to do the best for me' as if I'm asking him to fix my broken suitcase. I was just requesting a basic amenity of the hotel to work as I had to walk down to reception for each and every request. Side note: The intercom was not fixed until I vacated and the hotel/receptionist did not care to get back to me to explain what is the issue and why they cannot fix it.
2. Limited and tasteless Complimentary Breakfast: Hardly had few options and taste of the food was not great. My kids mostly took brekafast outside. Can't complaint much as it is complimentary. Just writing this note to traveller's who are considering this hotel for its Complimentary breakfast.

Hi gokulakrishnant, Thank you for your detailed review. Please accept our sincerest apologies for the shortfall in response to your requests. I have checked and there were 2 bookings made under your name. 1 of which was for the preblock. Please accept our sincerest apologies that our colleagues failed to identify and take note of this. The team has been reminded to be more responsive and be more observant with bookings flowing through our system. I have checked the logs with regards to the telephone line, it was reported as damaged hence they were not able to replace it immediately as it would require some minor hacking. Once again, our colleagues have been reprimanded and reminded to be more tactful, to follow up with guests on their requests. Noted on your feedback of our complimentary breakfast, will share this feedback with our vendor to cater to review their menu and provide a more tasty spread. Once again, please accept our sincerest apologies for your less than perfect stay with us.

I felt like I was being 'robbed' by the Bencoolen hotel staff when I checked in on August 25 at 11 pm
It was my fault because I brought a total of 4 people with 2 children aged 12 and 14 years with a height of less than 150cm. After the night staff asked for the passports of the four of us, then he forbade us to sleep in the one room we had booked via trip.com

We were forced to open 1 more room and charged SGD 500 for 1 other room for 2 nights

What we regret is that the hotel seems to be bullying us and charging whatever they want, and I paid without them issuing any detailed receipt.

Since it was already midnight, and there was no choice for me, I accepted the offer and I got a standard family room (I heard?) and the second night I got a deluxe queen the same as my first order

I really don't recommend this hotel from the attitude of the staff

SGD 500 for 2 nights, I think the price is crazy considering the condition of the hotel is only 3 stars, with the building having old paint and old furniture. The rooms are quite clean, the amenities are quite complete, but still can't hide the age of the building and the old furniture, is it worth SGD500 for 2 nights??
The condition of the deluxe queen room booked on Trip.com was very small and there was a connecting door, so I heard the conversation of the guest next door all night
The quality of the hotel food is very ordinary, it's best not to buy a package with breakfast
The only advantage of this hotel, and also why I chose it in the first place is because the location is very close to the Bencoolen MRT, while the slogan is family first, I don't think it is worthy of what the hotel staff has treated me

I booked the deluxe king room for a pretty long stay while in Singapore. This is a small 3 star home based budget hotel, mindset and expectations should remain and stay at moderate level.

My room is very spacious and bed extremely comfy ! Housekeeping Ms. Helen is so friendly and always able to keep my room clean and tidy and making sure I have all the necessities topped all/refilled in order.

Concierge Mr Pacik provides impeccable service. He helped me navigate the city and attractions, telling me where to find good food etc. His warm smile never fails !

All staff at reception are friendly and nice. Love it especially Amy and Minh for their generous hospitality !!

Hotel location is right opposite subway and walking distance to nearby big malls, food court and bars !

There is a big air-conditioning food court (cheap price), Starbucks right opposite the hotel ! Toast Box, MacDonalds are 5min across the lane, all open from breakfast hours.

Honestly, this is a decent hotel charging a decent room rate and providing decent basic needs. No complain !

Overall, my stay has been a pleasant one and I love this Hotel and will definitely return !

This hotel deserves a minus one rating. We arrived from a long flight and blurring eyed at 02:00 only to discover that Hotel Bencoolen is awful. The light fixtures are broken and exposed, the towels stained and tattered, and the room is dingy and dirty. The air conditioner was turned on so high, the room was freezing and we couldn’t open the window. Not what we expected for the price.

Our confirmation and reservation were made at two different hotels. 30 Bencoolen is at 47 Bencoolen St and Bencoolen Hotel is at 30 Bencoolen St. Furthermore, there is a V Bencoolen hotel and others with the name Bencoolen in the title.

This Bencoolen thankfully is undergoing needed renovation and will be a constriñe until June 2020.

Stay at the Bencoolen with the swimming pool on the 15th floor.

SHN is on-going for this hotel together with staycation. Staycation is for 6th to 9th floor. Below is for SHN. The management image shown here is for Hotel Bencoolen @ Hong Kong Street, NOT for Hotel Bencoolen @ Bencoolen street.

Now, the review for hotel Bencoolen @ Bencoolen Street. Many connecting rooms. Deluxe comes with king bed and bathtub. Most of the rooms no good view as the view is blocked by the next door high building. Parking is limited, 5 to 6 parking lots. The carpark gate would close at 9pm. If u coming later, do phone them to open the gate. The carpark is very squeezy, be careful when opening your doors. Once you have passed Bras Brasah MRT, turn right into rendezvous hotel. Then continue stiraght. Hotel Bencoolen @ Bencoolen street would be at the right. Turn into the carpark and you may park your cars there.

Room comes with bathtub. Water handle cracked in one of the rooms. Soundproof was very bad. Even can hear intimacy next door at late hours.

Lobby looks grand. The lift looks like the 90s lift. Once you have reached your hotel level, the lift door opens, you would be greeted with a spooky dark corridor, very dim light and scary if you are alone.

In one of our rooms, the aircon was super cold, even we turned it to 28 degree, it was still super cold.

There is a older man who is very friendly. He was always greet you and smile at you when he sees you. He walks around the lobby as well as the carpark.

Under the covid-19 pandemic, the hotel requires all guests to fill up their declaration form. You would have to declare if you have close contact with c+ for the last 14 days. You also need to declare when was your last PCR and ART test and what is the result. Then you would need to sign on it.
