Arrived after midnight. Just stayed for one night. Our room was upgraded since we did direct booking. Got a nice big room. There was only one problem. All 4 pillows were big and denser that I usually use. I called reception and asked for smaller ones. The house keeping was closed.so I had no choice than to use them. I woke up with sever neck pain nausea and headache. I suggest that rooms to be supplied with different pillow sizes. Other then that, could see any problem with the hotel.
I have stayed in around 20 hotels in Singapore. This is the best, overall. Importantly for me, the main attributes are (1) it is quiet. Location is quiet and the room was well insulated. I never heard my neighbour or the people above me. (2) the aircon was excellent - one actually needs to turn the temperature up sometimes. I slept better here than I do at home. The staff are excellent. Sean at the front desk is super-helpful. All the other staff great as well, including the man who helped with the left luggage. The location is wonderful, being close to the excellent Fort Canning park (great to exercise in) and also close to shops - walking distance to raffles City and Boat Quay. Room was very clean. Recognising the price is reasonable, this is absolutely my hotel of choice in Singapore. Excellent.…
Stayed with a friend, and found it good value for money (although it would have been nice if we had a room with separate beds). The staff was always consistently pleasant and accommodating, and anything you can't find in your small fridge can be bought at a nearby convenience store or the vending machines not too far from the lobby. Will go back, given a choice, especially considering the nearby park and museums within walking distance.
Had a church event from 16-18 Jun 2022. The supporting staff from front line (Hou Man and Charles) to technician Mr Wong, to frontdesk Luke to Café Lodge (Kumar and Erica) were excellent. They certainly went beyond their scope of work to ensure a seamless smooth run of the event. Although the hotel is not young, they are constantly undergoing upgrades portion by portion to replace the aging facilities. Well done.
I stayed here for 11 days on my own. Great atmosphere and view from my room as well as a solid breakfast every morning from 7-10am. The rooms were clean and tidy and the aircon was powerful. I would say my only setback would have been the noise level as the rooms were not quite sound proof. I stayed in a room near the lift and I heard loud voices and movements whenever people were coming in or out or waiting at the lift. There was also construction of the lift happening on most days (even on a Sat/Sunday) and I heard the drilling and hammering several times of the day. Ear plugs helped to solve most of this issue. The location was superb with easy access through the UBS building to the buses and MRT station along orchard road (3 minute walk to get to the public transport). A local cafe called Killiney was also 3 min walk and convenient for lunch. The reception staff were easy to communicate with and helpful with providing weighing scales and extra towels when required. The swimming pool was peaceful, not crowded with people and clean. The famous fort canning park is just opposite this hotel for walkers and runners or those who want to take in the scenery of Singapore. Overall a very convenient and pleasant spot to stay.…
I stayed 9 nights split over 2 stays with my 2 sisters (overseas Singaporeans) and we were treated so well, it was home from home for us. We researched their website in advance and managed to obtain their best rates (fortunately, we did not stay at peak season). If you have high expectations, expect to pay 2-3 times more for a venue in such prime location, with Dhoby Ghaut MRT a short walk and Orchard Road (depends which end of Orchard Road) a stroll away. Our rooms were spacious, quiet and clean. We could nitpick but one has to be realistic. Singapore is an expensive city! Overall, for a budget hotel, we felt safe and content. I think housekeeping is a bit understaffed (difficult industry to fill such physically demanding roles) but on our 10th floor, we were looked after by Qing Bao who responded to our requests with high efficiency and always with a big smile! Would nominate him to be employee of the year! However, Luke, Bobby (front office), Kumar, Kelvin (cafe) and many others all deserve nominations! Look forward to returning with my UK based family in 2023!…
On behalf of our church, I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff of YWCA. You make an excellent team!! The management staff, office, hospitality and backend team were very proficient and professional. The staff are very proactive and they would go the extra mile to help us in any way that they can. Our church and myself were very impressed with how the team work so cohesively. Well done everyone! Thank you for making this event possible and a memorable one for us! A BIG “Thank You” to: Michelle, Eric, Johnny, Hou Man, Kelvin, Dickson, Daniel and all the staff who has supported us throughout the event. On behalf of IBC Yvonne Chan Children’s Ministry Director
This is the 6th or so visit for us to splendid Singapore. Usually I stay in a midmarket hotel at some distance to the centre, as the MTR brings you anywhere fast and we get good rooms there, with pool, between USD 100-120/night. This time I was with a family member with slight walking impairment, hence wanted to be close to Orchard Road centre and choose YWCA Fort Canning Lodge. Of course based on the info we knew it was no 4 star (unlike Fort Canning hotel on the other side of the park), but everything proved more underwhelming than promised. Especially as it was a more expensive 'Executive' room, not the 'Superior'. It was not much more than a basic guesthouse room, not spacious at all. Bathroom badly designed, the floor (leaking into the room itself) was flooded within 2 minutes. Breakfast (set menu) very little choice in Asian food, only continental. Did not use the pool. Service at check-in okay, we arrived 10 and had the room at noon. Check-out was worse, as the keys were disabled at 11 AM despite us having paid for a late check-out (6 PM); reception fixed it, luckily. For this budget, next time we'd pick a decent hotel in nearby Bencoolen Street area, generally better value for money than YWCA, or a midmarket one again in e.g. Little India. The sole positive thing of Fort Canning Lodge is the location, for the rest it's just a no-frills guesthouse wanting to be a hotel.…
I find the decor is nice and modern for stay and big group gathering. The room is big and comfortable. Minus one star because housekeeping could be understaffed and not able to deliver water bottles to room as promised.
Thank you for hosting us for our first Shekinah prayer retreat. The room is very clean and the environment is very conducive for resting. We had a time here. The food is good at the cafe. The chicken chop is impressively tender. Thank you for having us and God bless.
