Stayed in this hotel few times when visiting Singapore. The price is not too expensive compare to the hotels in Singapore. Location is nice and convenience that have 3 MRT stations around the hotel, blue line, purple line and green line. Both Farrer Park (purple) and Bendemeer (blue) is around 5 mins walk, while Lavender (green) is 7-10mins walk from the hotel. Both blue and green line able take you to and from Changi Airport too with less than SGD2. There are many eating places, from food court to restaurant, cafe, around the hotel. So, finding something to eat is not an issue. FairPrice supermarket is near to Lavender MRT station, you can get 1.5L drinking water with SGD0.70. However, the room condition is bit old already over the years. I think the Management need to do…
Visited for 4 nights as a brief getaway during our visit with my wife's family in the Philippines. We very much liked our little room. A/C was excellent and we slept great. Yes, when you shower, some water will get in the bathroom, but no big deal. Plenty of delicious food in the neighborhood. Good ambiance in this old hotel. Would recommend for the price.
First of all, the pictures make this place look much better than it is. There is no difference between the pictures of the "superior double" and "standard double" rooms, and the pictures make the rooms look much better than they are. Our room was dark, musty, dirty, and loud. The noise is because the hotel faces a busy street without airtight windows - instead of glass, there are just shutters. Not good when looking out onto a major thoroughfare. Our carpet was filthy, the bed was dirty, and the room was very small. The bathroom wasn't clean and there were hairs in the sink from the last occupant. The walls were peeling and stained. The hallways were dark and dank. We found brown spots on the mattress, which could indicate the presence of bedbugs. We decided not to stay here…
Stayed one week with the family. We took 2 Supreme rooms with windows. The rooms were small but had all the amenities we needed to make our stay for the period comfortable. Although the décor and furnishings in the room looked dated, the linen and the room was clean. The location of the hotel was ideal for public transportation as well as shopping ( the City Mall is only a 10 minutes walk ).The 7/11 store directly opposite the hotel and the near by local coffee shops was a plus for us to buy our groceries as well as have meals. If you lower your expectations ( always remember this is a budget hotel) you will have an enjoyable stay here. After all the room rates are less than SGD 100 per night.
The hotel is located in a good neighborhood, not too crowded and but easy to access by bus. There are 3 bus stops nearby (between 100-200 meter walking distance), 7/11 convenient store, and the famous nasi lemak place (nasi lemak ponggol) next to the hotel. The hotel is also pretty close to Mustafa Center and Citi Square mall (if you're interested in checking the Japanese chain super market DonDon Donki) which means a lot of food places as well. The hotel ambiance is mote to the vintage Chinese style which reminds you of the 1950-1960's. The room is not too spacious but the amenities are good enough; comfortable bed and pillow, clean room, water heater, and hair dryer. In conclusion, my stay was enjoyable an satisfying.
