The staffs are passionate to help with travel information, they also rent bikes. The location is easy for foods (Song Fa Bak kut teh in nearby Chinatown Point) and transportation, bustling until late night but don't bothering sleeps.

Positive view : Overall are satisfy. Price is reasonable, good location (opposite to MRT China Town), and nice staff. AND...of course, FREE WIFI ^^ Hostel also offer a bottle of water at SGD 0.8 which is very cheap comparing to other convenience store (SGD 1.5-2)

Negative view : I stay in female dorm (8 bed). The bathroom is not sufficient. ANd bathroom cleanliness is must improve. There's smelly and air-vent pipe need to clean up. Also, the light is always out.... like every 10-15 mins.

The Beary Best has a good location, which is opposite the Chinatown MRT. The hostel also near the Chinatown Point - a kind of supermarket, the Chinatown food street and souvenir shops. It also has an adorable decoration inside the hostel with bears everywhere. Moreover, they put some little funny cutie sticky notes for reminding the guests, they were really lovely.
The staffs are friendly and willing-to-help whenever I need advice (for attractions, food...). Additionally, the hostel provided free breakfast with cocoa, cafe, sandwiches and jams, those were simple but tasty. The room I stayed was the triple room at the 3rd level and only the room on that floor so it was quite, but at the ground floor was enjoyable with people from other countries who were singing, talking, playing guitar...making a cozy atmosphere. All noisy actions ended from 11.30pm to 6.30am, so everyone can enjoy the sleep after a long walking day.
Oh, about the restroom, the hostel has 2 restroom for female only and for female + male guests, both of them are clean, but the water-heating machines are sometimes broken down. That is the only disadvantage of the hostel.
Overall, staying at the Beary Best is a good choice for me, although I hesitate to book this place at first. The Singaporean are friendly, the Swiss guests are humourous, the Thai and Hongkong guests are nice and sing very well. For me, that was a wonderful and unforgettable trip to Singapore.

this hostel is exactly across the MRT Chinatown exit F, also a bus stop on the next building of the hostel, I was going all 11 people, we use the 9-bed dorm plus 2-private dorm, the 9-bed was clean & cozy, enough space for us to sit around together, clean bathrooms as well, helpful staffs
tips: if you are in the Chinatown MRT station, get the exit F which is not mentioned on the direction boards, once you get it you just have to cross the street to get to the hostel, otherwise you can choose exit E, but it's also within walking distance

I've never seen hospitality staff go out of their way to provide you as much information as possible. It did not seem to matter who was managing the front desk all staff were eager to answer any and all questions. Along with their answers came lots of little "only locals would know" tidbits!

I wish I would have ran into them three years ago when we started going to Singapore.

I stayed at Beary Best for two nights with my 7 friends (4 boys and 3 girls) in 8 beds mixed dorm (2nd floor). The room was clean and cozy, the bathroom was outside (used by all rooms). The hostel had a very excellent internet access. They served free breakfast and also milk+chocolate all day long. They had a living room, big TV and Wii console. The receptionist was very nice and helpful, also the owner .You can also left your luggage at the hotel at no cost when you checked out (I had night flight and I wanted to visits some places in Singapore without carrying my luggage). The hostel located near Chinatown MRT station, 5 minutes walk. Also near bus station and Chinatown, for food and shopping lover. The rate for one night was very affordable and I would love to stay in Beary Best again.

Had our family trip to Singapore last January and as we were trying to limit our budget, so we decided to book a private 9-bed dorm room at Beary Best Hostel. I've researched other inns, hostels and even checked AirBNB but this was still the best place to stay in. We just paid $1200sgd for a 5-day. That's roughly $133sgd per person for 5 days. Not bad!

Advantages:
1. In Chinatown (one of the best places to stay in SG)
2. Train station is just across the street
3. Near Raffles, so u could walk to Lau Pa Sat (famous night food market)
4. Bus stops all over
5. Chinatown street food market & other food places are within walking distance
6. Chinatown Point Mall is just across the street
7. Convenience Store a few steps away
8. Bottled water is cheaper if you buy it from the hostel
9. Towels for rent
10. Free breakfast (coffee, tea, bread, jams, cereals)
11. Activity area - (TV, couch, laptops which guests can use)
12. Discounted attraction tickets. Just ask the receptionist!
13. Helpful staff
14. Wifi available!

Downside
13. Shared bathroom - but we really didn't have any problem in terms of waiting because there were 2 per floor, one of them is exclusive for ladies. Bathroom has 1 toilet & 2 showers. There was adequate supply of tissues. The sinks were a little clogged that time though.
14. No shoes policy - so you have to remove your shoes when you enter the hostel. If you're a germaphobe then you might find this icky. It was not a problem with us though because I had clean slippers which I used in the room & bathroom.
15. Beds are a little old and I could feel the spring underneath. I still slept soundly though due to exhaustion haha.
16. Room cleaning is upon request, I think. No one came by to clean our room or change our sheets during the 5 days we were there.
17. Wifi in our room is not that strong. We stayed at the 3rd floor.

That's it! It's still my home away from home in SG. Would definitely stay here again next time!:)

Great location, just in front of the MRT Exit but you have to walk to the intersection to cross the street. Great staff, but don't expect them to be in uniform, accommodates all our requests and offers different tours. Great value for money, given the location and the city itself, it will be difficult to find a place to stay with the best value for your money. They ask guests to remove their shoes and this is a bit awkward for me since I'm not used to in walking barefoot. Their mattresses are those of springs, not the foamy or spongy one. It actually gave me a little difficulty in sleeping because I can feel the springs behind my back. Shared bathroom is clean. There are a lot of exits in Chinatown MRT Station. Make sure to get out at Exit H. This is the one in front of the hotel.

Best location just across the road from Chinatown MRT. The staff spoke good English and were very helpful with directions. A really cute interior and very quiet.

They did not have any double bed private rooms, however it was that hot that bunk beds were fine for my boyfriend and I. Thank god for the air con. Bathrooms were fine however the hot water for showers didn't work most of the time.

Hello jcbabe: We have 2 bed private rooms so you don't have to share with others... or dormitories of 6, 8 or 10 beds you will share with other guests.
