A very basic hostel. Pros: location, price and the rooftop terrace. Cons: rooms are very basic (e.g concrete floors, no amenities), breakfast is served late (8.30) and thus pointless half of the time, wifi is faulty and the bathrooms/showers are no luxury either, to say the least. All of this is okay given the price (relative to other places in...

I stayed here for what was originally 3 nights but then I decided to extend for another 2 nights whitch was hassle free. This hostel is in perfect location in Arab street. The train station is about a 5 minute walk. The staff are lovely. We stayed in a girl dorm the beds are comfortable and we had our own...

This is without a doubt the worst place I've ever stayed, and yet as I write this review it has 4 stars on trip advisor. Either other reviewers have much much lower standards than me or they are illegitimate. Here is the long list of problems with this hostel: 1. NASTY BLOOD STAIN ON THE MATTRESS COVER OF OUR BED!...

Hey Steve, Thank you for your feedback and we would sincerely like to apologise for your bad experience during your stay here. Upon further investigation the mattress that you were staying on was from varnish and not a blood stain. But we've replace the mattress to prevent confusion for future guests. We service our air-conditioners monthly and perhaps it could...

Stayed with my two besties in the 12 mixed dormitory rooms. We were placed closer to the doors which was fine since we usually went out a lot and came back late. Lockers are available beside your beds. The comfort rooms and or showers are small but enough to keep you clean. They have hot or cold showers so not...

This is one of my favourite hostels I've ever stayed at in the whole South East Asia! The dorm rooms are pretty big and everything is clean. It's well used and it is a hostel so don't except luxury. But what got the is the atmosphere! The people working there are so much fun and so friendly, the play games...

DO NOT STAY HERE. This hostel is absolutely disgusting. I have been backpacking all over the world for one year and I have never felt this strongly about a hostel before. This hostel is absolutely TEAMING with bed bugs. They are EVERYWHERE. I found dead bugs all over every single bed in my 12 bed dorm. There were blood stains...

A walk down Haji Lane offers quirky shopping, while one block over, Arab Street is a treasure trove of brightly coloured fabrics, clothing, and Turkish rugs. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
As cliché as that sounds, Shophouse was started by a couple of best friends, backpackers who couldn't travel the world (yet) and wanted to bring it to them instead. So grab us if you have a minute to spare, we all have a wanderlust tale we'd love to hear or share. Less than 30 minutes from Changi International Airport, The Shophouse is located at Arab Street, a heritage area famous for its heady mix of arts, culture, dining and fashion. A 5-minute walk from Bugis MRT Station, Nicoll Highway MRT Station or Golden Mile Bus Complex, Shophouse combines affordability, comfort and convenience in a charming historical building. ... more   less
