It’s rare that I’d ever remember the name of a staff in a hotel. For good reasons, Erica left a deep impression on me during my stay at Amoy Hotel. Prior to my stay, I had numerous requests and enquires which were promptly addressed by her & the team. The moment we reached, I was addressed by my name. Never had I receive such service and attentiveness from a hotel. We were allocated a room with a bigger study table as we still had online lessons and work to settle during our stay. This was really a thoughtful arrangement by the team. On our second day, there were small constructions nearby but the noises were still bearable. Erica called us via the hotel phone and asked if it was still ongoing. We updated her awhile later that the noise had started, thinking that she had to monitor the situation (even though it wasn’t bothering us much). Together with her colleague, she visited us and provided ear plugs etc and apologised. Checking out was also a breeze. The location of the hotel was also very convenient and there’s nothing to complain about. What left a deep impression on me was the personal touch that the team successfully achieved. Thank you for making my staycation such an enjoyable one. No regrets with choosing Amoy hotel!

Hotel's Favourite
The hotel is situated within the renovated shophouses of Singapore early days that's been preserved as part of the heritage and well integrated into the current Far East Square as it is known today. Located a few minutes walk away from Telok Ayer MRT and nearby Amoy St as well as Chinatown where many great F&B outlets resides, it isn't much of an issue travelling around or finding the venue for your next meal. The oriental decors within is stands out pleasantly from the moment you arrive at the lobby, and we were pleasantly surprised by the welcome drink that was served to us in what resembled to those wine bottles and bowls used in ancient China. Rooms were very spacious and had the same oriental feel as well as elements of nolstalgia, ranging from the old school telephone to tingkats used to contain some snacks. Due to the way the hotel was built, we were informed that no rooms are identical in terms of layout. Since this staycation was for my significant other's birthday, there was this handmade souvenir they've prepared for her. with some personalised touch and a handwritten note. The hospitality and service shown by the staff throughout our 2 nights there were excellent, acceding to our requests and helping me out with some of these requests prior to our stay. Special mention to Bryan for the service before and during our stay too. The recently added heritage tour in the vicinity was a great eyeopener led by the manager Alvin, which we learnt a lot about the stories that came with the history of Singapore and hidden corners with paintings and murals. It definitely made it to the highlight of the stay. Will we come back for a stay? Definitely. With the great location, comfortable room and the superbly high standards of service that left us with such great memories, it's hard not to consider coming back for another staycation. For those who will like a change from those modernised hotel stay, do check this hotel out for yourself.

Loved the location - it's in the Central Business District, and just a few train/bus stops to the shopping area. A lot of good restaurants in the area. The room is just lovely - love the oriental decor. Friendly staff. Only downside is the noise from the nearby pubs. Noise echoes in the enclosed area near the pubs. It was very hard to fall asleep.

We stayed as a couple for an overnight staycation. Our comments: - The hotel is located in the Central Business District: i.e. busy during weekdays, but much quieter on weekends. The general area is quiet, and the adjacent roads lined with lots of restaurants and eateries for those who don’t want to dine in shopping malls. The hotel provided complimentary breakfast at Genius Central – a restaurant just next door to the hotel: you can select one of any breakfast items from their menu there, alongside also a drink. - The hotel is quite small with just 37 guest rooms, and on its web site boasts of personalized service, with staff recognizing and knowing you by name. It was nice being greeted by name and saluation at reception. - There are two types of rooms in the hotel: Cosy Single (18sqm), and Deluxe Rooms (22sqm). Ours was the latter, and the room in actuality is pretty much exactly what you see in the web site photos: not terrifically roomy but stylized after Chinese heritage. There’s a complimentary minibar, a Nespresso coffee machine, a shower area with rainshower head, and the toilet is separated from the wash basin via partition. As for the bits that didn’t work so well for us: - The hotel was undergoing some minor refurbishment, so lifts were not working. We got to our room by walking up a flight of fairly steep stairs. We traveled light since this was just an overnight stay, but persons who are stairs-adverse or have heavy luggage need to take note. - The flat-screen TV sits on the left of the bed, but can be swung out partially to face it. The range of channels however was disappointing: the selection was limited – basically local broadcast channels and also a few news channels. Worse still was the quality of imagery on the telly: it looked like we’d returned to the 1970s' days of antenna-type TV reception, with noisy images and low resolution video. We've come to expect pristine and high resolution imagery in this day and age of Internet and/or cable TV. - The room was equipped with a queen-sized bed, but it felt fairly small for a queen-sized even though we managed. More seriously though was the lack of adequate back support on the bed: both of us woke up with backaches after the night’s sleep. - The music that was being played at Far East Square in the night was a problem. We could hear it from our room. Not loud, but not exactly unnoticeable either. The room tries its best to be soundproofed, but our room was on the second floor and overlooking the square (i.e. you’d need to draw your day curtains to have privacy). Thankfully, the music playing stopped at 11PM, but if you’re a light sleeper and want to turn-in before that time, you’d need ear-plugs. - Lastly, the hotel provided complimentary parking at Far East Square’s carpark next door, but it was for a single-entry and exit only. We’ve stayed at properties which offered complimentary parking before this, but this is the first time where this freebie was for a single exit only. In all, mixed feelings. The staff service is great, and location of the hotel fantastic if you want a property away from busy areas but that is still close to the main retail districts in central Singapore. AFIs for us were the night-time noise, TV, and bed. In all, it was a pleasant enough stay but we're not sure if we'd want to stay here again.

From cleaners and technicians to all the front desk staff, AMOY's team are genuinely happy to serve their guests and go out of their way to ensure a delightful stay. Special thanks to Erica for the museum tour and Derek for surprising us with a lovely cake for hubby's birthday (even though we didn't tell them about it). Throughout our stay, the team were thoughtful of our needs, suggesting a late checkout and timing the room cleaning with our breakfast so we returned to a nicely cleaned room. The handwritten welcome note was a nice touch! Love the building's unique vibe and history. Our room was also tastefully decorated in the same oriental theme. The only downside is that there was some traffic noise at night despite the room not facing the road, so light sleepers might want to bring some ear plugs just in case. Breakfast at Genius Central offered a lot of choice and catered to various allergies and dietary needs. Overall, we had a lovely time!
