This place is lovely, stayed here 8 days! Clean sheets/beds/bathroom. Free breakfast (they have marmite). They also have a fridge where guests can store food. Close to Payar Lebar station and a lot of malls/hawker stations/restaurants/cafes etc. Very helpful staff, if you stick around long enough you might meet the hostel dog, Pepper. Netflix in the common room at 7pm....

Me and my friend Becca stayed in this hostel for more than a week and I can honestly say its one the best places we've stayed in a while. We stayed in both the female mix dorm and the 20 bed mixed dorm during our stay and we preferred the smaer dorm. Warm showers and clean bedding! A free breakfast...

Went to a seminar at Singapore Expo and stayed here because it's the nearest one to the venue. The place is nice and the ladies at the reception are very accommodating. You get your bare necessities, for your stay. A very stocked common area/dining area for all your other needs, tours, maps, entertainment, internet. The facilities were clean and maintained....

To be honest I just visited this hostel one night with a group of friends - I didn't actually stay here - but I got to enjoy the facilities and the vibe and it is clear that this is a very well run establishment with everything a discerning budget traveller might need. The people who stay there were also an...

The 24-hrs air con-communal room is very homey and cozy. It's quite notorious to keep you inside for a long time than to go outside to face Singapore hot temperature. It's a great place to meet other travelers. The staff were friendly and informative.

We stayed here twice during our two stopovers in Singapore while traveling through Asia. The first time we were just needing a cheap spot close to the airport. The beds came with clean linen, the rooms have AC at night, they gave good tips for sights, and overall the friendly, social atmosphere of the place won us over. Love all...

The staff at Betel Box were welcoming and informative. The free breakfastbis pretty good, tea and coffee all the time and a great little chill out room that looks over the street. The bus goes from just down the street and only takes 15 minutes to get to Bugis St. The room was spacious and clean, would definitely stay again!

Staying in Joo Chiat

Neighbourhood Profile
Joo Chiat
The Joo Chiat area is the traditional home of Peranakan culture in Singapore, an ethnic group descending from the blending of Chinese and Malay families in the 15th century. The neighbourhood is packed with colourful shops, local characters, and quiet charm. The main streets overflow with diners enjoying katong laksa, the signature Peranakan spicy noodle soup. Signs of youthful entrepreneurship are visible as well, with modern cafes, bars, and shops abounding. Visit Joo Chiat to take a break from the big city sights and enjoy a relaxing afternoon with a laid-back and local vibe.
