Reception was busy when I arrived, but I was checked in relatively quickly by a friendly receptionist. I was assigned a room in the Peninsula tower; the other tower is called Excelsior, thus the double name of the hotel. The receptionist said that the rooms in both towers are equal in terms of quality and size.
The room was small, almost cramped, and screamed 1995 all over the place. It was worn out but clean. The bed was rock hard and gave me back pain, but on request, they brought an extra mattress pad the next day and after that it was okay. Make sure to ask for that if necessary. There was no socket by the bed (who would have needed that in 1995?). The room came with a desk+chair, armchair+coffee table, fridge (was turned off), safe (was broken), A/C (worked fine) and wifi (worked fine). There were two 0.6 L water bottles, replenished daily.
The bathroom came with a bathtub and good water pressure in the handheld shower. They had installed a new tap at the sink, and water pressure here was awful, probably because the new tap was designed to save water, or something. Soap, shampoo and bath gel were provided in individual minibottles, which I appreciate as those wall-mounted containers many hotels choose to put up on their bathroom walls to save money are not very hygienic. Shaving and dental kits were also provided.
Breakfast was served from 6:30 to 10:30 and cost 32,30 SGD including taxes. It was an average 4-star buffet with fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals, basic hot items, low quality cold cuts, fried eggs, and a limited number of Indian and Chinese hot items.
There were two pools, the "still" pool and the "fall" pool. The fall pool is right opposite reception and was the busier one of the two. The still pool was always very quiet. Towels are available at the pool or in the gym. The pools were open from 7 am to 9 pm.
While the hotel is in desperate need of a total renovation and is not worth its four stars anymore, it nevertheless enjoys an excellent location in central Singapore, close to City Hall MRT and Boat Quay with all the restaurants. There are plenty of shopping opportunites close by, a money changer with fair rates a few steps from the entrance and a 7Eleven across the street. All members of staff were friendly and helpful.
While the hotel is far from perfect, this is also reflected in the prices they charge, and I might very well stay here again if the price is right.

We had a spacious corner room on the 10th floor, overlooking the fire/ambulance station and despite a few sirens now and then, it was quiet. The room was modern and very clean, the bathroom quite small, but adequate, with pump shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. The hotel is next door to the funan centre with mcdonalds and all types of cuisine restaurants, with a link to City Hall mrt so you can walk in air conditioning and undercover. Fort Canning access is across the road and its a moderate walk to Clarke Quay and Boat Quay for drinks or dinner or night life. The staff were wonderful and friendly and a couple of maintenance issues we had in the room were fixed within half an hour of letting reception know. Housekeeping staff were hard-working and our room was always made up daily. The bed was firm and the pillows were long body type. Had a great sleep. We didn't have breakfast at the motel, but they did have breakfast options. We got breakfast from the Funan centre and we tried kaya toast from there one morning. Great hotel. However I found it wasn't as close to everything as I imagined, but taxis and the mrt are cheap and if you don't mind a walk this place is ideal.

I was given this hotel for by Singapore Airlines when my flight was delayed. As the room and food was paid for I can’t comment on any prices, or have a real experience of the place in terms of value for money. However I can comment that as a tired, slightly stressed and first time solo traveller, the people here at Peninsula Excelsior were extremely friendly and accommodating. After pretty much 24 hours without much sleep, they made sure I was taken care of, shown the room, explained the timings of food etc. The lady that checked me in (I think her name was Aleena Song) was extremely empathetic and wanted to make sure I could make the most of my time at the hotel. Yoga, the restaurant host was also very helpful when helping me sort out a very early dinner order before I had to get back to the hotel. The Hotel offered a wake up call for me, and were able to prearrange a taxi for back to the airport so I never felt rushed or stressed to continue my journey. Thank you for your hospitality. The rooms were gorgeous and the people so lovely.

I stayed at the Wyndham Singapore for two separate stays before and after travelling to other parts of the Far East and it was a fantastic choice. The staff were so helpful and friendly, and even managed to get me an early check-in after traveling from the UK overnight. The rooms I had were in both the North and the South towers and the view from each was spectacular. The pools are lovely and cool- which is an absolute necessity given the intense heat and humidity of Singapore. The hotel has a small, but well resourced gym, there’s a communal shower room in the toilets for the last day after check out. The porters are so helpful and friendly too bringing the luggage up to your rooms and then storing them on your last day. Rooms are very spacious, have filtered drinking water on tap, complimentary toiletries. My only one small suggestion would be to have BBC World on the TV channels as I’m not a fan of US News Channels, but I wasn’t in Singapore to watch TV! Just behind the hotel is the Funan Mall- so many amazing food options, a Watsons chemist/ drug store (like Boots in the UK/ Walgreens in the US), McDonalds and a mini supermarket amongst lots of other retail units. The bus stop to both Arab St and Chinatown are just around the corner of the North Tower, and around the corner from the South Tower is St Andrew’s Cathedral and Raffles, the MRT station (City Hall), old City Hall, Parliament etc. I would completely book the Wyndham again.

Booked a stay at the Executive Room to commemorate a special occasion. Check-in was quite crowded even though there were 4 staff manning the counter. James attended to us during check-in and he was courteous & polite. He noted the special request we made prior to our stay and tried his best to accommodate.
The room we were assigned was on the top floor corner room which came with an excellent panoramic view - absolutely phenomenal. Truly appreciate the kind gesture and accommodation for meeting our request. The room was spacious and clean, love the design and decorations of the room. Bathroom wise has a separate standing shower from the bathtub, but it was a tad small.
Unfortunately, we came to learn that the sky lounge has ceased permanently and the evening cocktail will be served at Craft Bistro instead. However, it was a blessing in disguise! The crew at Craft Bistro were exceptional, especially both Yoogy and Yoga. They displayed warm hospitality and attentive, constantly checking in with us and top up our drinks promptly. The food and drinks menu were very extensive as well. Food wise it covers everything on the menu! For this, I would definitely recommend paying a bit more to enjoy the club benefits.
Overall it had been a pleasant experience which we would definitely return in future.

I would like to highlight my review to a lovely lady at the reception named Shiela. My family and I checked in last Sept 12, past 9PM and despite the long journey and tiredness, she made the check in process such a delight! Her friendliness, the information and tips she shared to make our vacation and stay in Singapore memorable was such a warm welcome to the city. When she saw that myself and my niece's birthday was of recent day (sept 8 and sept 6), she did not hesitate to offer us an upgrade of our room with a wonderful view of the city on one side, and a beautiful panoramic view of Marina Bay Sands on the other. She also sent us a slice of birthday cake with a greeting card to celebrate the occasion. The rest of the staff were equally friendly and helpful as well.
Their beds are very comfy - firm but very comfortable to aid a great sleep and rest at the end of the long day of walking. While the cleaning may not be as on-point as we hoped it will be, but their cleaning team are very polite and friendly. I understand they were pressed too much with the amount of guests checking in and out of their hotel throughout the day, but they are very friendly and nice when we ask them little things like coffee refills, or extra creamer/Tea.
Overall, our stay in PenExcel was a very wondrous time worth the value of money. Kudos to the team and special mention (once again) to Shiela at the reception.

Greetings from Singapore. The hotel is currently under refurbishment until the end of July, rebranding to Wyndham Singapore. The hotel has 2 towers, the Peninsula Tower and the Excelsior Tower. In our current phase, the refurbishment is on the Excelsior tower and is estimated to be completed by the end of May. Guest are placed in the other tower. Once we have completed the Excelsior Tower, we will allocate guests to the Excelsior tower when the Peninsula tower will be closed for the final phase of refurbishment.
Our hotel is ideally located less than 5 minutes walk to the City Hall MRT station with access to many parts of Singapore.
In the meantime, thank you for your kind patience with us. We look forward to the pleasure of welcoming you to the Wyndham Singapore.
