Price? Reasonable. Location? Accessible. Room?ugh! Good enough for the price. Staffs? Will let you guys judge after my story below. Safety? NOT AT ALL. So, we had the shared bathroom accommodation. Around 11 at night I took a shower, when I went back my room I realised I left my Swiss watch ( a precious gift for me)not even 3 mins I went back to the bathroom and my watch wasnt there anymore. I asked the staff who were sitting outside of the bathroom where there are few tables and chairs for the guest to use, he said I DON'T KNOW, I asked if there were guests came in after me? He said...I DON'T KNOW. How about the CCTV? Can we check? NO, IT'S NOT WORKING. I just said to myself, oh My! This is horrible. Next morning, I went to the reception to tell my story, I just got answer like..I DON'T KNOW, NO ONE CAME HERE TO INFORM THAT THEY FOUND A WATCH IN THE BATHROOM. How about CCTV? NOT WORKING MA'AM. So, since we were about to leave for our Malaysia trip that day, i just told myself that I won't make it a big drama. I left the place feeling miserable. To those who planned to stay there? Make sure not to bring anything expensive because IT'S NOT SAFE AT ALL. NOT AT ALL. STAFFS DOESN'T TOTALLY CARE. I ALREADY TOLD FRIENDS AND PEOPLE THAT I KNOW ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED TO ME IN THIS PLACE- THE BACKPACKERS COZY CORNER GUESTHOUSE. NEVWR AND NEVER AGAIN.…
Unfortunately a really bad experience. Room were really very small only a double bed can fit in and nothing else. Common toilet facility which was disgusting. They do keep your passport and return while leaving. The only good thing its located in the city with lots of shopping nearby and also restaurants.
We stayed in this hostel in August, 2012. All hostels in Singapore were full, but this one is not on the popular booking sites, so it still had a room available for us. We stayed there for two nights, and had the place basically to ourselves. Safe, clean hostel, good location, but most of the time there was no staff around. We did not mind, since this basically ment we had a private flat in the centre of Singapore for a bargain price (at Singapore rates). I'd recommend it to everyone.
Unfortunately our stay at the Bugis was marred like so many others by terrible service. In endeavouring to follow the ridiculously complex online rules on booking back-to-back stays we had inadvertently booked an extra bed for one of our nights. However, the front desk staff member was so rude and unhelpful that we took the hit on our deposit and cancelled. We still spent one night there, and although the room was decent enough the shower "facilities" are a joke and compare poorly to other options in the same price bracket. On our second night we ended up staying at a cheaper, cleaner and better hostel elsewhere (read my other reviews to find out where). I recommend you do the same.
If you read my other reviews on this site, I hope you can see that I am pretty unbiased and objective in my reviews. So if I say this place was truly terrible, you'd better believe it!! For starters, we walked into a shocker when we learnt that the rooms (En suites) had a shared bathroom to be used all the way across the hall. This information was missing from the website on which we did the bookings. The lady at the reception refused to release our booking when we said that we didn't want to stay, so we left our bags and went over to look for another place to stay. Some more shockers in store : The shared bathroom had a smoked glass door. I have no idea what the hell they were thinking and how patrons were supposed to use the place. The bed linen was absolutely filthy and the room was a cramped four walled existence. I am not sure my review will make any difference to the arrogant management, but if it makes even one traveler think twice before staying at this dump I'll be really happy.…
