Stayed at this hotel for my first trip to Singapore and it was fantastic. Check in was fast and the staff at the front desk were very friendly. The room had everything you’d need for a 1 week vacation with a comfy bed and nice rainfall shower. The hotel is conveniently located near Clarke quay mrt station which makes for very easy access to the rest of the city. I found it was also possible to walk to marina bay sands in about 20-25 minutes. Overall my experience was very positive and I would certainly stay here again in the future.

The shower had molds in the grouting. It was raining during our stay, and the hotel ran out of umbrellas to loan. What saved my impression of the hotel was the kind and courteous lady in the front desk.

We spent 2 nights at the Hotel Bencoolen during our vacation in Singapore. The location is good, you are close to Chinatown and reach Marina Bay in about 30 minutes walk. The rooms and especially the bathroom are rather small and have seen better days. Our shower was unfortunately defective and leaking. Shampoo and soap were provided. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the hotel canceled breakfast for the guests. Unfortunately, we were only informed about this on-site. However, the staff are very friendly and courteous and make a great effort with the guests. As we were only staying for a few nights and out of the hotel during the day it was okay. But all in all, we would book a different hotel next time.

Hi Seliina_st, Thank you for leaving us a review. Noted on the breakfast inclusion, this has been rectified and currently we have breakfast options available to our guests. I sincerely hope that you would give us a second chance and do consider staying with us on your next trip to allow us to rectify the shortfall in experience during your recent stay.

The location was good for visiting some of the bigger shopping malls and the Boat Quay. It is easily accessible by the MRT (closest station Clarke Quay 5 minute walk), the bus and of course taxi’s and ride share. There are two Seven Elevens within 150m, and a couple of small restaurants and bars on the street. The hotel itself is fairly secure, with a manned reception desk and swipe pass entry to the lift. I can’t say reception staff were overly friendly. We stayed on the 6th floor in a loft room. The fold out bed had one of the most uncomfortable mattresses ever, but was big enough for an adult to sleep on if need be. The lower floor windows say they are for firefighter entry but the handles have screws securing them closed, so good luck to the firefighters trying to gain entry - I reckon would be against the local fire laws. There were two bathrooms of fairly good size which was good, and a TV on both levels. The aircon was ok on the lower floor but pretty bad on the upper mezzanine where the main bed is. Funny thing is, the aircon in reception where the staff are is icy cold - go figure. The wifi is really bad on the upper floors (so don’t rely on it). The pool area needs a sun shade as the flooring and metal seats are likely to give you third degree burns and the pool is like swimming in a warm bath as it is fully exposed to the sun. The switch box for the spa jets is missing the side cover and it’s wiring is exposed. I advised the hotel reception who seemed to already know about it, and didn’t really seem to care. Maybe their tune will change when someone gets electrocuted because it is so close to the water. It was an average hotel, but the price was right compared to other accommodation in the area. I reckon if the pool area gets renovated, the aircon, wifi and mattresses get upgraded the hotel would get much higher ratings.

Under no circumstances should you deal with this hotel. They held onto my refund for an emtire month and then attempted to blame the bank. Due to me having a receipt they Originally said I didn't pay for the room, then tried stating I should contact Hotels.com. Hotels.com said that Hotel Bencoolen has my money since I paid them directly. Then after another few weeks I called once again an they stated something was wrong with there system AVOID THIS HOTEL BECAUSE EVEN IF YOU CANCEL ON TIME TO GET A REFUND THEY WILL AVOID GIVING YOU YOUR MONEY IN A TIMELY MANNER.

I dont think that I have anything positive to write about the hotel. However, there are lot of things that we did not like: 1. Our room was not cleaned even once in our 4-day visit. 2. They claim to have a pool which is actually only a jacuzzi which has very low pressure and makes a lot of noise. 3. The water bottles they provide are 300ml bottles. 4. You don’t get wi-fi access on the upper floor of loft suite. 5. One of the lifts was not functioning properly for majority of our stay.

Stayed here for 2 nights on a staycay. Excellent location and many of the city sights are within walking distance, such as arts gallery and main shopping belt. The closest mrt is Clarke Quay station. Room wise - may look ok but has shown signs of wear and tear. No place to hang dry laundry. In the end gotta turn over the ironing board and use it to hang clothes. Housekeeping was ok but if you look under beds, you will see a thick layer of dust.

Hi. I was there for 1 night. It is 1 too many. Though the price was right, the offer is just not worth it. The saying is fully realised here: You get what you pay for. The room itself was bigger than many in Singapore. That is a plus. The place did look neat and clean until I opened the refrigerator. Then old hit. I am sensitive to Mold. But think that all should be as well. Choose your poison. It was everywhere in the fridge. Hence I would not use it and strongly discourage it. Many may just move on. I Cannot decide for you. Be careful is my advice. A comment to staff receptionist was met with apathy. In the end, I suggest another place. Cheers

Check in was fuss-free and room is relatively spacious compared to similar category hotels. This can be a nice place for a staycation - there's Clarke Quay and Chinatown Point within walking distance; plenty of food options; small rooftop pool. A good idea will be placing disinfecting wipes in the room and use better towels. The towels in my room were thin and not too pleasing to the eye. My toilet floor was also full of stains. Will come next again soon and I hope these lapses are looked into...
