We stayed for three nights at the hotel on our trip south. Our room was very good but, in general, the hotel is in need of repairs. Also, while we were staying there, there were not many other guests. The front desk staff were very helpful and provided good recommendations for dinner and a boat cruise. The breakfast was very good with a large assortment of foods. We didn't use the pool but we did see others using it. The grounds are nice and it is definitely worth a walk out to the dock. The location is a little way from the restaurants but we walked to restaurants in about 10 minutes.

This a luxury hotel in Valdivia. Rooms are spacious with great view. Back from the main road. The location is 2 km from the city center (for good or bad).
Thogh they provide a choice of pillows, the bed was quite hard and not so comfortable.
Also opening the window in the evening fills the rooms with mosquitos and other insecrs as there are no meshes.
Most of the staff does not speak English

My wife and I booked a one room stay through bookings.com at this hotel for $164.00. When we arrived we were surprised at how EMPTY this hotel seemed to be. The staff were nice. The rooms were very comfortable with really nice large beds. We talked about how this seemed to be a very nice hotel and we felt sorry that more people were not staying here. The next morning after breakfast we walked past the front desk and said goodby to the clerks.since we paid through Bookings.com there was never any credit card swiped at the front desk upon checking into the hotel. A few days latter I went on me Citibank account just to monitor my charges and noticed an extra $28.00 charge to my account. Well ... It has been over a week and about 8-10 emails to the hotel and Bookings.com with still no credit to my card account for the extra $28..00 that I never authorized to be put on my account.when I get back tot he states next week ,I will have Citibank reverse the charges, but both this hotel and Bookings.com have been little help in correcting this error. In the future I will not ever deal with either of these companies !!!!

Spent a weekend and it was very nice. It is a beautiful hotel with great and relaxing views. It is at a walkable distance from the center but since Valdivia is a rainy city maybe a car would be a good option. The staff were very prompt and friendly and the breakfast was quite complete. The room was very spacious and temperature was set to be just perfect when entering. I would guess that this hotel is a gem in the summer with the outdoor spaces and pool.

We stayed for two nights, but will never return to this hotel. Nothing worked as it should.
To open or close the sliding doors of your cupboard, you have to be Superman. With the safebox you had to struggle 10 minutes to close it. No climate control in the room. The wireless internet drops out every so often. No sign for an emergency exit. No lights switched on at the stairs nor the hall to our rooms when we arrived. It looks that after the opening in 1996, no maintenance has been done.

We were told it was a 5 star hotel. So when we arrived it looked good from the outside. The reception is nice but a little run down and its not 5 star caliber. Once in our room we discovered various problems. 1st. we could not make an international call. Instrucions on the phone said we could direct dial , and when tried we conected to the telephone operator ( which is the same as the receptionist and concierge) who informed us to come downstairs to the office and try from there. We never could get a line. The safe in the room was not operative and again had to go downstairs to the reception to get a lock and key. Water pressure very low. No heating in the room, the hotel decides when to turn it on!. Instrucion book for the TV and other room amenities like the phone does not exist. I can go on but I want to advice travelers that this is definetly not a 5 star hotel.

After a bad experience at another hotel in town, this hotel provided much needed good customer service. Everyone was friendly and the hotel grounds are just beautiful. I spent a lot of time in the hotel walking and enjoying the grounds. It is close to good restaurants in town and to the downtown but it’s also easy to take an uber if you don’t feel like walking. It is very close to a famous brewery. It is a bit old but very clean and tidy.

The strange thing is that this hotel ‘nestles’ between shipyards...... but in fact you don’t notice that! The position is actually excellent with an amazing view of the river and city. There is obviously a sculling club nearby and you can watch the boats hurtling up and down the river, especially first thing in the morning ..and at night the city lights up and reflects on the water....it’s amazing.
If I had a criticism it would be that the staff on the desk when we arrived were really very supercilious......an indication that they were operating out of their ability.....and that they completely lacked training. Aside from that, rest of the staff were really quite good.....the rooms were spacious and clean, bathrooms good, beds comfortable and breakfasts quite adequate
In the Chilean sense of the word.
It is an old fashioned sort of place, but better for it I would say.....it’s quite a way from town, so you need a car or taxi...but better for that too.
All in all, whilst not inexpensive, I thought it was good value and would return.

We stayed here for four nights late November early December. The hotel is in a lovely setting, looking out on to the river at the back. Most of the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The first room we were assigned had problems; a poorly functioning toilet, water on the bathroom floor. And then a major water leak which soaked the carpet.
We were moved to a bigger, nicer room. The staff were OK.The breakfast was good.
There were a number of decent restaurants within a ten minute walk.We liked El Growler. The famous market is about a twenty minute walk away, and it is better to walk than drive and try to park,a nightmare.
The grounds are really nice and there is a nice path down to the river. The pool was empty and grungy looking whilst we were there.
