We stayed here a couple of times and really liked it. The staff are very friendly, chatty and helpful. They really go out of their way to help you out. They have excellent English. The seating area downstairs is lovely, really cosy and homely. We stayed in the four bed dorm, the beds are very comfy and warm! It is...

Really nice and chilled hostel with super friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are clean and the lounge area is great to relax after a long day in Santiago. Amazing, full breakfast is a huge plus and fills you up for a day exploring the city. There's a metro station and supermarket all within walking distance and a bus stop...

A quaint, relaxing little hostel. We stayed for one night before flying to Easter Island and are staying again on our return. Tidy, clean and comfortable. Definitely one of our favourites in the continent. Delicious breakfast. Good location; simple to get to from the airport. Helpful and welcoming staff with great local knowledge. Four bed dorm is a little cramped...

Don Santiago was our first hostel on a two months trip in South America. We loved it there. The staff was amazingly friendly and caring. They felt like friends immediately. The hostel itself is small and cosy. Only three rooms so never too many guests. As a result, it was easy to connect with others. I keep great memories of...

Don Santiago is an awesome place to stay! I stayed here my first week in Chile and everyone was sooo kind. One of the employees Pato introduced me to all his Tourism and Hospitality students from the college he teaches at. They ended up taking me all over Santiago to many different cool bars, plazas, and vistas. It was the...

The common room feels like your living room (if you have candles and wine from time to time). The breakfast tastes like the one your mother used to make you on those hangovered sundays. The staff is super friendly, helpfull and interested in your stories. Everything is clean and the price ks fair. I stayed there twice and will stay...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hey fellow travellers! Why staying with us?If you check the reviews, most of them point out our staff as the best. Do you know why? Because they love working at Don Santiago, and that happens when the staff feel secure about what they are 'selling' a We know that staying a hostel is sucha a life experience, we know we have hotel style matresses in dorms and double beds. We do provide the best breakfast in Santiago as follows:Brewed coffee, tea, ginger lemonade.Scrambled eggs varieties: oregano, merken (spice smoked chilli with coriander); and ciboulette.Fresh fruit salad with honey. We are a million miles away from the business-like check-'em-in check-'em-out hostels Staff is fantastically friendly and the house feels like staying in a home with friends where you can relax and play music with the guys there, or just listen to them play.Toilets are cleaned everyday, maybe you will have to wait a bit when the house is full, but usually when people is having breakfast, the rest of people is showering, so it works wellWe don`t push people to buy tours, seriously, Santiago is such a safe city, where you can go anywhere (wineries, beach, Valparaiso) by yourself, and we can get you instructions in order to make it cheaper. However, there are tours available, just ask. =)The house is from 1910, wood floors are creaky, and if you are a light sleeper, we do provide earplugs on request. We are not a party hostel though, please know that. Quiet time starts at 01:00There are no rules in Don Santiago, once again, We do appeal to 'travelers common sense'Welcome to Don Santiago!!!!! , Certificate of Excellence TRIPADVISOR 2012'and remember, what happens in Don Santiago, stays at Don Santiago ... more   less
