We were with a group of 10 people and were picked up from downtown Quito by Gabriel and companion. The arrival at the hacienda was lovely, a beautiful old home with well decorated bedrooms and living room. We went horseback riding and for every individual they had a matching horse. We went out for a 3,5 hour trip in a...

Meggi we are very happy that you had a good time, a day tour as 7 day volcano ride program is the best option to go deep in our Andes. hope to see you back gabriel

I stayed two weeks on a horseback vacation in July 2014. Hacienda la Alegría is truly a little corner of paradise. The charming century-old house is a perfect place to relax while enjoying the view of the surrounding mountains, but also to discover the atmosphere of a working dairy farm. The rooms are beautiful, elegantly decorated and very comfortable. Above...

Hacienda La Alegria defies translation into mere words. It is so unimaginably beautiful. And it is real! A real working hacienda. Not a "made up" "boutique hotel." This is a lived in home, with added guest rooms. The owners, Paty and Gabriel, open this home to us, the travelers, and share their extraordinary lives with us. They certainly don't "have...

There is a very good reason that Hacienda La Alegria has perfect reviews.....it is a most PERFECT spot on earth. We stayed for three nights in July this year and it was magical! We were picked up promptly at the Quito airport by Juan Pablo and driven to the ranch (two hours drive). We arrived around 7:30 PM and there...

Truly the ride of a lifetime! Words cannot describe the wonderful experience my wife and I just had staying at Hacienda La Alegria and riding to the magnificent volcano with Gabriel and his wonderful family. Accommodations were 5 star and the food was fantastic - even during the ride which was to the remote Cotapaxi Volcano. We experienced the highest...

Beautiful accommodations, bucolic setting, and the most gracious hosts and staff -- plus incredible horseback riding. Special thank you to Mauricio and the ladies in the kitchen who surprised my 12 year old daughter with a very official birthday cake replete with lighted candles and song. "It was the best birthday, ever!" Bravo!! We look forward to our next visit.

We are currently at the Hacieda. Patty, Gabriel and family are such gracious and welcoming people. Our room is large, has vaulted ceilings and great views of gardens and mountains. Food is tastey. I have saved the best for last. We had 2 lengthy horse rides today on beautiful, well behaved horses. I got to learn how to canter for...

Truly idyllic setting - quite amazing. We only came for a day ride. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Scenery on the ride was also bucolic. Our 6-year-old had a great time. He was a first-time rider and 1 hour was plenty for him. He also enjoyed seeing the llamas, alpacas, chickens and dogs. Bring rubber boots if you have...

What a treat. I traveled with my daughter who is 9. Of all the places we stayed in two weeks, she still ranked the Hacienda stay as her favorite place. She loved the horse back ride and was paired with a suitable horse for her level. The cowboys were excellent. It was cold for us and rained but that didn't...

We arrived on 31st May, rather late after our lovely day at Otavalu, seeing the all the markets. The animal market is so memorable for me. All the animals were well behaved and I have a happy feeling about it. We took our time to freshen up, but didn't realise that Gabriel and his lovely wife was waiting to have...
