I like to come stay here every so often as I am living outside Cuenca. It is always clean, the staff are great. You can get cold beer, meet locals, and travelers alike. The prices are very cheap for a bed, and the food is pretty good, close to downtown Cuenca, and other sights!

We spent 2 nights here. Its located in a nice colonial building 3 blocks away from the main plaza. Around are many restaurants and bars. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room was clean and big. At night it can be noisy because of the restaurant inside the hostal.

Today we stopped in a La Cigale as we know from previous stay here it is one of the ways to get a 'private bus' that travels to Vilcabamba. It was wonderful,to,see some previous faces still working there. We stayed for, lunch in their restaurant.. A veggie wrap, and a chicken wrap... Yummy as usual. The hostel is within a few minutes...

We have stayed in several hotels in Cuenca but La Cigale is the best bang for the buck. Rates may have gone up since our stay but the price of around $30US per night including a hearty breakfast is hard to beat. Payment is in cash and if you choose a room well in the back of the establishment you...

Staff and guest very friendly. Good location and the food was really tasty. The only thing is that you have to wait until restaurant closed to go to bed because is noisy but you can always enjoy a beer meeting people

This is a hostel with clean and nice rooms, comfortable beds, tasty food in the restaurant and friendly staff! And the breakfast is included to the price. It has a good location, close to restaurants, markets and museums. Stay here if you ever go to Cuenca.

We picked this hostel based on the glowing reviews. Maybe it worked for most people, definitely not for us. The location was good, walking distance to the center of town. We were offered a room at the rear of the building, away from the nice-looking restaurant and the noise which starts building up late in the night. Unfortunately, the room...

I was pleasantly surprised with all aspect of the hostal, we had a private room bright and clean, the included breakfast is sufficient, it is near the downtown and relatively close to the public market if one wishes, i would return there if I go back to Cuenca

On the plus side this place is clean, comfortable beds and by far the best breakfast I've had served with good coffee. The location is excellent and the staff are friendly and helpful. On the negative side it's noisy till the bar closes in the evening and there's no sneaking around upstairs because the wooden floors squeak loudly.

This hostel is a popular place to get drinks in Cuenca. Also for locals. The restaurant has good meals and breakfast is included. The rooms are nice and clean. But watch out if you are an early sleap, because the noise of the bar is present till 11/12 o clock.
