We had a "suite" overlooking the garden (no. 12) with kitchen and separate sitting area; excellent value for money. No neighbours, above the breakfast room but you cannot hear anyone from the bedroom. There are also several rooms by reception, around an inner courtyard. These would be more noisy but suitable for good sleepers. We were given a very warm...

We opted for the suite with kitchen and stayed for 7 days. This gave us ample time to see Cuenca, Ingapirca, etc. We liked the old wooden floors, the extra space, and cooking our own meals after visiting the market, supermercado and bakeries. We also enjoyed the breakfasts that were provided. A bonus for us was the flat screen TV...

The hotel front is on a narrow cobblestone road, but when you go thru the doors....you feel like you walked into a garden with cottages. The staff are wonderful, food is simple but excellent. I slept peacefully and felt safely tucked in away from the street. Wish I could have stayed there Longer! Xoxo

As of tomorrow morning, we will have spent 7 nights at Hostal Macondo. My husband and I have really enjoyed our stay. We've been staying in the "penthouse" (our word) which is a very large upstairs room with lots of windows looking out on the garden. We have 2 beds-a twin and a double, a table with two chairs, a...

I stayed here for 3 days over the new years. I was looking for some peace and quiet and hit the jackpot. Kudos to the excellent staff. They are very patient and friendly. The room was really classy and the bed comfortable. Hot water.

A nice and very relaxing hostel in the center of Cuenca. A big garden were you can sit quietly and read, good breakfast, and lovely rooms. Everyone was kind and trying to help with all our needs. We forgot our coats when we left and they suggested to send them to Guayaquil by bus the next day, and so it...

Macondo is beautiful. It is listed as a hostel, but is more like a boutique hotel. The room is really nice and also the bathroom. The location is the best and the service is really good. The decoration and the silence in the place is charming, we really want to go back to Macondo!

We stayed three nights here. It has a nice vibe. It is spotless, the rooms were small but perfectly fine, great breakfast. The staff at the desk were especially helpful. When I made a booking mistake in their favour, they sorted everything out to my advantage. Quiet street, nice and central. I definitely recommend this as an option for people...

My wife and I stayed here for three nights while waiting to get into our apartment. The staff headed up by Jennie and Jessi were superb, so accommodating. The breakfast was outstanding! I enjoyed the courtyard, lovely and in bloom. The beware part of this review is that the rooms are quite basic, not much more than a bed, a...

We stayed five nights in a very clean and comfortable en suite double room which overlooked the garden. Included breakfast was excellent and patrons had access to the kitchen. It is a 10 minute walk from the historic Centro and the main cathedral and museums or galleries. All staff was great and the front desk staff had good english and...
