We found this hostel in the Lonely Planet and spent three nights here. Although there were no big problems with the place, and the owner José was very friendly, we were disappointed by the following: - Contrary to what Lonely Planet writes, the hot shower is not that reliable: gas tends to run out in the evenings (this happened twice... This is a great place to stay. It's cheap, clean, has cosy rooms, hot showers, has a small kitchen area and a rooftop terrace for relaxed hours. The owner is really friendly and the location is close to plaza de armas and the other attractions of this beautiful city. What more does someone need?

Rooms are basic, but good value. 60\soles for a double with ensuite bathroom. Place was quiet except for Friday and Saturday nights. There is a nightclub next door.owner is very friendly but speaks very little English.

I stayed here two nights. Recommend for people with low expectations The room is clean but very old. Lots of noise from the street but it is not in all the rooms here like that. The bathroom was also clean and good hot water but also very old and not so inviting.. The roof is nice.

We stayed for two nights at that hotel well localized in Arequipa, We were all surprised by the warm welcome we got from the staff here, the low price and quality of the service. U will feel good here and could get help from the staff in any of ur request : tour excursion, washing clothes, early check in, dropping... More

Well located, away from the hustle but easy to find. Quiet rooms, with plenty of light but the plug socket was giving off sparks so the TV was a bit useless! Owner was friendly, but not massively useful. We left our bags for a day whilst we were on a tour and were fairly worried that they would be returned... More

I spent 4 nights at La Posada del Cacique with two mates. I would stay again however it could be a bit of a mixed bag for the traveler with high expectations and a budget wallet. PROS: The Posada is conveniently located in the center of Arequipa a 5 minute walk to the Plaza de Armas and 5 more to... More

Stayed a few nights here in September - originally meant to have been at a nearby hostel apparently owned by a relative of the owner of Cacique but as a guest there was sick, they had to use our room an extra night - Fair enough, we were initially happy to move... ...this hostel was a disappointment -- I have...
