Frankenstein has everything a great hotel should have: Handy central location, clean rooms and kitchen, breakfast, all-day coffee/tea, friendly atmosphere, hot showers, fireplace, fast wifi, etc. On top of all that, Frankenstein has Ludwig. He is the most helpful, informative, and friendly hostel owner I've met in ten countries. He provided the best and most concise information on Machu Picchu... More

This hostel was brilliant value for money: clean, central location, with one of the most comfortable beds ever (perfect for recovering after the Inca Trail!), hot showers, a kitchen and really helpful staff. We were allowed to leave bags there while we did the Inca trail. Would definitely recommend!!

Such a lovely hostel. There are loads of quirky things around the place and it is filled with plants. There is a log fire and a nice kitchen so the place feels like home. The shower is powerful and hot (rare in Peru) and there is a lovely roof terrace. Would highly recommend this hostel and the owner is super... More

Clean rooms, good value, central location & super helpful staff. If you like a quirky interior with loads of plants then you'll love Frankenstein! Basic breakfast included but visit a supermarket to stock up and you're set.

I stayed here for 7 nights in the end and loved it - 4 nights to acclimatise before my Salkantay trek, and 3 nights after. I arrived a day early due to changed plans, and arrived by bus early in the morning, but Ludwig (the owner) already had a single room ready for me (in fact I was allowed to... More

Stayed there for my last night in Cuzco after my trip back from Macchu Picchu. The guesthouse is quite close where the Collectivos mini bus drops their passengers. The owner is german so everything is almost in german way, clean, squared. We booked for the twin beds almost on the roof. The room is clean, with hot shower and paper... More

Over a year on and we still reminisce about our time here. Great location. Great value. Well equipped kitchen to cook your own meals. It was the little details in the hostel that I found refreshing. Things that made me laugh or just in appreciating a bit of German efficiency in Peru! Ludwig was so helpful and accommodating. From helping... More
