The hotel is located on the platform of the railway station in Ollantaytambo and has an excellent restaurant. Room 3 faces out onto the station and is the noisiest, as diesel locomotives and rolling stock clank and clatter past, but the railway activity stops around 11pm. The rooms located in the back gardens are quieter and very peaceful. Breakfast was...

Can't get any closer to the train station to Machu Picchu - the entrance is on the platform. Still, we didn't notice train noises, even early in the morning. Dinner was delicious (as it was throughout Peru), but we were rushed for breakfast. Room was adequate (nice view of mountains), but bathroom was tiny - no counter space (there were...

stayed overnight before going to MP. It is located on the train station, so very convenient to catch early train. But having said other hotels are just 10 min by walking. The room are spacious and nicely kept. Since we went in Dec the rooms given were not facing the station. Peak season you may want to ask for it....

El Albergue's understated simplicity, elegance and warmth made this the perfect hotel for our family upon arrival to Peru. The staff was kind and helpful, the grounds are lovely, the rooms are simple and beautiful and the food is delicious, organic and truly local - it comes from their own organic garden, which you can visit right on their property....

Quiet courtyard gardens with flowers and humming birds. Right on the station from where one catches the trains to Machu Picchu. (For that reason select a room NOT on the station side of the hotel as the trains get going quite early). Lovely walk up the hill to the main village square, and the central attraction of the village :...

Although El Albergue's front door opens onto the train platform, it's a bit of a walk from the center of town, but not a walk most people would mind making. And being away from the center of town makes it fairly quiet (somehow you're hardly aware of the trains). Most rooms are in buildings behind the main building, which houses...

This hotel was outstanding. We flew into Cusco and wanted to go directly to either Urubamba or Ollantaytambo since both towns are at a lower altitude than Cusco—and closer to Machu Picchu. El Albergue arranged for a taxi to pick us up at the airport in Cusco, the ride out to the hotel was gorgeous, and everything about the place...

I loved almost everything about this hotel. The staff members were all helpful securing dinner reservations, tours, cabs, etc. The wait staff in the restaurant were all lovely as well, especially Jennifer. Our room was large and airy with crisp white sheets and chocolates in cute little baskets every evening. Laundry service was good, too. All the porches have nice...

This was a great place to stay if you are taking the Peru Rail train to Machu Picchu. The hotel is right on the tracks. The room was comfortable and the staff helpful and friendly. Despite having a very early train they made sure we had some breakfast before we left.

The location of this hotel if fabulous. It is small but the rooms are larger than average hotel rooms. They are clean and nicely decorated. The view of the mountains in the mornings is fantastic. My husband celebrated his birthday with a traditional Peruvian ancient food prepared outdoors. Mario is the manager of the resturant and he organized the mean...
