the hotel is well located and some how confortable. Staff could be better, and not very prompt to solve problems. I got the impression that no managers are around. Breakfast is ok. Pastry is ok, cereals are bad (only corn flakes and rice) eggs are overcooked, orange juice is not squeezed.

The Balmoral Plaza is in a very good location for business travellers to Montevide, in the corner of leafy Plaza Cagancha. All staff at the hotel are very helpful and friendly and most speak several languages. Rooms are quiet even though this is a city centre hotel.

I reserved this hotel thru my company travel department. When arriving the front desk staff asked me if I had a reservation which I showed her. despite this she started to ask when and how long ago I did the reservation. She couldn't really find the reservation by her self so she phoned someone from a back office who then...

I've stayed twice in this hotel just for work, and it's very good. The first time in a double room, perfect. The last time in a single room, a bit small but good anyway. A wood working table could be better that the glass one in the room, but that's my only concern. Add an iron and a water boiler...

Hotel well placed centrally. Desk staff helpful and some spoke good English. Hotel was clean and rooms comfortable. Beware! Do not use the laundry because the prices are extortionate. There were no advertised prices in the room during our stay and we assumed normal prices applied. The hotel manager was not at all helpful and after a brief conversation, refused...

Nicely kept hotel. Fast check in and check out good breakfast buffet spread. Lots of restaurant and money changer around the hotel. Exchange rate for P19/20 for $ 1. The staff knows how to speak English very well which is good for the non native speakers like me. Easy to get around the hotel and everything is walking distance

This is NOT a 5-star hotel, but it is a very friendly and helpful 4-star in busy, downtown, Montevideo! Our room was clean, well-equipped (yes, rather small, but did have a sorta queen bed), and the desk was over-the-top in helpfulness! I mean...the desk clerk even walked me down two blocks to the ATM to read the script in Spanish...

I booked a single room for one person. It was tiny, claustrophobic and way overpriced for what I paid. However I complained and I was transferred to one of their suites. Which was absolutely huge by any standard. So I was overly compensated beyond my expectations. It is quite an old hotel, but if you get the right room, it...

Stayed in late November 2012 and the hotel was under construction and had scaffolding blocking the plaza side. Trying to find the hotel proved very difficult as we were arriving in rental car and the garage was on the back of the block and no signs for parking were clear. Parking in the underground lot was quite tricky so we...

Balmoral is OK. Good food, good service. Location... is close to the old town (about 15 minutes walk) and close to shops, but not so close to the newer part of town, or the higher-end part. The hotel rooms are TINY (and I mean tiny... the same size as the showers), yet they are clean. Good hot water. As the...
