We asked for a superior room, and it was completely ridiculous. There was not one thing superior in it except the price hike. The bathroom grout was black from dirt, because it was never cleaned properly over the years and no one seems to care in cleaning it correctly now, as from the corners... The bathroom ceiling was yellow from water...

We had dinner at the Hyatt restaurant. It is a nice restaurant, well decorated with a spotless open kitchen. There is a tree in the middle of the dining room with tables around it. Another interesting area is a couple of tables semi enclosed surrounded by luxurious sofas. We ordered a couple of entrees, tortilla and molleja with sweet potato...

This Hotel is a solidly 2 star hotel. The breakfast was NOT included, and even the breakfast lady said many people had complained about that.Expedia said they had a breakfast buffet with the room. They charged us $16 US for a simnple buffet.Room 505 was NOT clean, but had a quiet air conditioner and heater. It was over the noisy Soriano Street below and fairly...

Definitely not 4 stars. The staff was friendly but they couldn't find my reservation without me providing the booking voucher. There was a lot of hair in the bathroom, the shower head was sprinkling water all over the place. The entire room looked very run-down, and I could hear noise from other rooms. I'll stay in another hotel next time.

Whom ever rated this hotel 4 stars is absolutely deluded. It would be 2 stars at best. Positives first; the room was a decent size and the location was great. Negatives; it's extremely noisy, whatever you do avoid a room facing the road. Our bathtub had all the paint pealing off and the drain didn't work well so every time...

Located centrally in the down town area this hotel is good for seeing the city. It's a little tired when it comes to it's decor and if I was paying the rack rate advertised in hotel I'd not be impressed. However I was paying substantially lower and had a third night free. That was value for money.

It's definitely something between 2 and 3 stars hotel. Noisy rooms, average bed, smelly halls, cheap shampoo and soap, AC does not work as it should, small TV with only local channels. If they were rated as a 2 stars it would be a good hotel. As a 3 stars, I'd rate it average. A 4 stars??? Nope, they never...

The good: centrally located for walking to Centro and Vieja, (but I would not venture out at night alone- it is in an iffy neighborhood.) Breakfast at 7am every morning- very good. Eggs/Canadian bacon, postres and the usual stuff. Coffee was hot and good. Bed was firm. Room was clean. Had a small desk to work on my laptop. Bathroom...

The hotel has a good location. It is about 4 blocs of the Artigas monument, at the heart of Montevideo. The personel is nice, but some of the things of the hotel are old and not renewed, like the bath tube that has no tamp for the sink. But the room are nice.

It was my first time in Montevideo, so I'm not able to compare with other hotels, but I can at least tell what my impression is about this place. And it is not good! The Lafayette hotel is well located, about 2 blocks away from the main street of Montevideo center (Avenida 18 de Julio) and about 15 minutes walk...
