I booked a single rm ensuite with hostelworld 6 month's ago. When I wanted to check-in, the owner told me, the hotel is sold out to a group of 69 pax. He first brought me to a hotel with windowless rooms, which I refused. After long argue and discussions, he brought me to a hotel, much older but with a...

The hotel is well located at ciudad vieja. The cleaning at the room is not so good. The shower is terrible and there isn't a internal partition, so the bathroom stays completely wet. The breakfast is simple, served at the room but it's delicious!

Hotel arapay or new Arapay hotel Hotel was good value at £24 a night and great location in centro. Tv, fridge, radio switch? A little odd. Safe did not work which wasn't good though. Big room, although a little dark and cold. Bed comfy, sheets a little tired, but clean, extra blanket and duvet - they are obviously aware it...

I stayed for 6 nights in this hotel. Nice, clean and comfortable room with hot water and air conditioning. Close to Plaza Independencia where you can catch the bus to all other parts of the city. Staff not english speaking but willing to help. Close to Tres Cruces bus station.

Stayed only one night and the area was deserted on a Sunday ( it was busier the following day) Small but welcoming entrance, nice lift took us to the second floor which was nicely restored with large sofas in the hall and piped music ( which you need to flick a switch to turn off) Our internal room had a...

Location is ideal: not far from the old town, but in safer part of the city, close to the main square. The rooms are spacious, there is enough place in corridors. But breakfasts are not offered. The rooms were relatively clean (comparing situation in south America) without insects.

I booked this hotel after reading numerous reviews talking about the architecture and creepiness. I love old buildings, and figured it couldn't be that bad, which it wasn't. The bed was new as well as the linens, my room was quite clean and nicely furnished (though it could use more than a single working outlet). The building is quite nice,...

It is undeniable that Hotel Arapey is an extremely cheap hotel and that one cannot expect miracles for the price paid (we paid €17/night for a 3 person room). The rooms are very old and not too clean (we actually didn't dare to step into the shower...), but give a good night's sleep for the price paid. The location of...

Reasonably good location, on the main street where every bus in Montevideo goes past. We have a front room with a balcony overlooking the street which is noisy so bring your earplugs. The decor is amazing you step back into a bygone era, but it's nice to have TV and free wi-fi available too. It is cold at night, the...

I intended to stay for three nights, but checked out after one. My room smelled like dead rat and had no windows. The wi-fi didn't work (could connect to the router, but router had no internet connection). The hotel has a fantastic 1950s architecture. Unfortunately, no upkeep has been done ever since, except for throwing in a floor fan and...
