I was misled in thinking this was a 3-star guesthouse but it is actually a run-down hostel. 3 bathrooms are to share for 10 bedrooms and there are no towels. There is no wifi unless you purchase it from outside and it's very expensive. There...More
The guesthouse is really beautiful - it has a very nice shared garden with hammocks. We booked a room with a small private garden which was lovely. The location is great, right next to Muri beach.
I would absolutely recommend this place!
It has its own little private way to the beach and a very clean and large kitchen for guests to cook! Nice outdoor seating and its less then 10 mins drive to the center!! Our room had its own terrace with a outdoor shower! Had...More
My wife and I stayed here for a week to escape the cold of NZ, we booked a Courtyard room.
Brendon (whom I assume was the owner) very kindly helped us with the reservations and airport transfers. We arrived in Raro at 2am on Saturday,...More
So I stayed here last month and prior about 7 years ago. The shine has worn off a bit- there are no longer kayaks to use or hammocks in the garden. The bathrooms and kitchen sorely needed a wipe down each day as they were...More

I would say, don't panic. Brendon (the guy who manages the guesthouse) is only there at the guesthouse for a few hours every day, the rest of the time the place runs itself. Lovi pops in to do the cleaning (or did when I was staying there in 2015) and she's really friendly and helpful. There are usually other guests around who can explain where things are, how to use washing machine etc. There's also a ton of info posted up by the telephone (about local services, taxis, airport, bus timetables).
If you're not getting any reply to emails to the guesthouse, maybe try phoning them instead?
My experience of staying at Aremango was that it was clean, very comfortable, friendly, peaceful, and you've got a secluded garden with hammocks, kayak to borrow if you wish, and a lush beach a hundred yards' walk away. Also Muri night market just down the road. What's not to like? I met some nice fellow travellers while staying there, too.
Enjoy your holiday! :-)
