The place hasn't revovered from the cyclone, sadly. Do not go here with young kids. See the dolphins but don't stay. Rooms full of stinging wasps, living in the walls, horrible food, their dog bit my 4 year old on the arm and noone cared. No electricity. No hot water. Camping would be much more enjoyable. For the price -...

Myfamily had three dreamy nights at this place. This is an off-the-grid destination. It is run by a lovely family with help from the local villages. It is comfortable, safe and interesting. The people want to show you their idyllic region - everything from the gorgeous rolling green hills with waterfall trips to the iconic Moon Reef. The reef is...

We were amongst the very first guests to be welcomed, 3 months after the extensive damage caused by Tropical Cyclone Winston. The repairs are on-going (conference room, main kitchen and bar yet to be rebuilt); however, the inconvenience was minor (rather romantic, really to have kerosene lamps instead of electric lights!) - the welcome and the care was warm and...

Gem of a place. Love the respect they have for the dolphins (no swimming with dolphins allowed). As soon as you arrive at the dolphin cove, they magically surface and welcome the boat. They start to pop up from the ocean and seem to race the boat, weaving in front of and under the boat. After viewing the dolphins you...

Stayed here for a weekend with my boyfriend. The Bure has been very clean, good comfortable bed and private bathroom. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner included in our stay and the food has been very good and in huge amounts. The breakfast alone has been a 5 course menu. We did the dolphin watching, which included some time for...

We had a day trip to Takalana on December 12th 2015. Gorgeous, atmospheric, chilled place! Awesome landscapes, black sand on the beach, nice morning tea and late lunch. So, yes, we loved everything nonetheless we haven't seen the dolphins :( It's because we came too late, around 1pm, and by the time we were in the ocean the dolphins were...

We booked a "Dolphin Watch" tour online because our ship would be in Suva for 15 hours. Comments ("bad", if any, in parentheses). (1) Jay (the owner) met our large group at the dock with 2 large a/c vans (departure delayed 1/2 hour because one van had a problem). (2) Fiji is a beautiful country and we saw many country...

Spent an incredibly relaxing weekend away from work in Suva. Everyone at Takalana was friendly and made sure our stay was as good as it could be. We paid $90 each for one night and three amazing meals provided. I can honestly say the food was the best I've had this trip. Paid an extra $45 to take a boat...

Okay this place couldn't get any better. First bit of advice is if you're trying to get there from suva on the local bus, ask around for the bus to lodoni. When you find it the driver and locals will help you get to takalana bay. So we got there way late but they had dinner waiting for us. Most...

I have a few problems with the previous review and both my older mother and I thoroughly enjoyed Takalana because it is so remote. Note: it will take all day and a $50 FJD taxi ride to get here from Nadi via Kings Road Express bus. To the reviewer who was upset that they could not view the rugby match......
