Chose Tiare Tahiti Hotel for the location convenience. Five minute walk to the market, ferry and Roulette food trucks. Room (harbor view) was clean but street noise was Alot louder than I expected it to be. Staff was nice and breakfast was sufficient.
Close to town, food trucks, had AC, but nothing special. It is a basic accomodation, some rooms have views of the harbour but overall Papeete is nothing pretty and nor is this hotel. The rooms are very basic, but it ok for 1-2 nights to...More
and received a friendly welcome from the front desk and my room was very clean and tidy. I had a balcony facing the cruise ship wharf and air conditioning that worked well.
I left again at 8.30am for my next flight but the staff were...More
Stayed here before and after our trip on the Aranui. We chose it because of its location, just a couple of hundred yards from where we boarded.
As most of the earlier posts say, the hotel is dated and the rooms are basic, but they...More
Pretty basic accommodation to be honest. The maintenance and the cleanliness of the bathroom was poor. The bed was also pretty average. I certainly would not stay for more than a night and the only reason we choose it was it's proximity to the centre...More

Congratulations on your wedding!
Food in Tahiti is expensive. We had breakfast included with our stay at Tahiti Tiara. But it was lots of baguette with some fruit & coffee. There was the option for one egg or some yogurt. But it was mostly carbs. Believe the meal would have cost $10 US.
We ate at Le Roulettes food trucks by the waterfront park for dinner. Great atmosphere & lots of choice. Meals were $10-15 each. There are lots of cafes with outside seating in Papeete. We didn't go to any high end restaurants there as we had great food in Mo'orea & on our cruise. If I were you l'd check out restaurants on TripAdvisor for whatever town you are in. Can't go wrong!
There are food vendors for lunch at the municipal market. Very crowded but nothing written in English!
There's also the option to pick up some food at the grocery store & have a picnic by the water.
There are boat tours that you can catch at the marina across from Tahiti Tiare. Again check out TripAdvisor for some guidance.
If you rent a car you can drive to Tahiti Iti to the south. Teahupoo is a big surfing beach there & worth seeing. La Plage de Maui (on Maui Beach) has fabulous seafood at the restaurant. Vanira Lodge is a beautiful resort up in the hills. They serve breakfast and dinner. It might be worth a night or two... but rent a spa room for the A/C!
There are many web sites that talk about the drive around Tahiti. Frommer's has a good site. You can stop to see water falls, museums, lots to see. Just try not to drive through Papeete during rush hour. It is insane!
Definitely take the ferry to Mo'orea. Cars are very expensive to rent there. Albert's Transport can do private or shared tours around the island. We used him to transport us to Sofitel. Also did a safari tour of the island. Great trip to Magic Mtn & Belvedere point. Dinner at Sofitel might be a good idea for some romance! They have entertainment, sometimes local dancers. Very good show. Beautiful setting. Only thing is sometimes service in the restaurant is poor. Other great restaurants on Mo'orea are Le Mahogany & Rudy's. Again, look on TripAdvisor to see what your choices are.
Hope this helps! Enjoy that beautiful part of the world!
