If you want to be close to the waterfront and in the city centre this is a good hotel to do this in.
The staff on reception are friendly and helpful.
The actually hotel is somewhat dark and rather run down but is clean and...More
Our flight from Honolulu arrived in Papeete after the last ferry to Moorea, so we needed a place to spend the night. We did not need an ocean front resort; we were headed to an ocean front villa on Moorea. We found the Tiare Tahiti...More
We had the dreaded 230am flight out of Papeete, so we stayed here for the 'almost overnight'. Well priced, basic, clean room. Is in a pretty good spot on the main street, near heaps of bars, restaurants and ATM's. Front reception staff were great, even...More
This hotel is located on the main strip of Papeete facing the waterfront. It is ideally situated within walking distance to the main sites of Papeete. The prices are very reasonable & the staff are very professional. The rooms are clean & comfortable. The local...More
My wife and I chose this hotel to crash before and after our Oceania Tahiti Cruise. From the outside, the hotel building had an old world charm; and the location- right across from the cruise terminal- seemed ideal. We paid extra for a balcony room...More

Congratulations on your wedding!
Food in Tahiti is expensive. We had breakfast included with our stay at Tahiti Tiara. But it was lots of baguette with some fruit & coffee. There was the option for one egg or some yogurt. But it was mostly carbs. Believe the meal would have cost $10 US.
We ate at Le Roulettes food trucks by the waterfront park for dinner. Great atmosphere & lots of choice. Meals were $10-15 each. There are lots of cafes with outside seating in Papeete. We didn't go to any high end restaurants there as we had great food in Mo'orea & on our cruise. If I were you l'd check out restaurants on TripAdvisor for whatever town you are in. Can't go wrong!
There are food vendors for lunch at the municipal market. Very crowded but nothing written in English!
There's also the option to pick up some food at the grocery store & have a picnic by the water.
There are boat tours that you can catch at the marina across from Tahiti Tiare. Again check out TripAdvisor for some guidance.
If you rent a car you can drive to Tahiti Iti to the south. Teahupoo is a big surfing beach there & worth seeing. La Plage de Maui (on Maui Beach) has fabulous seafood at the restaurant. Vanira Lodge is a beautiful resort up in the hills. They serve breakfast and dinner. It might be worth a night or two... but rent a spa room for the A/C!
There are many web sites that talk about the drive around Tahiti. Frommer's has a good site. You can stop to see water falls, museums, lots to see. Just try not to drive through Papeete during rush hour. It is insane!
Definitely take the ferry to Mo'orea. Cars are very expensive to rent there. Albert's Transport can do private or shared tours around the island. We used him to transport us to Sofitel. Also did a safari tour of the island. Great trip to Magic Mtn & Belvedere point. Dinner at Sofitel might be a good idea for some romance! They have entertainment, sometimes local dancers. Very good show. Beautiful setting. Only thing is sometimes service in the restaurant is poor. Other great restaurants on Mo'orea are Le Mahogany & Rudy's. Again, look on TripAdvisor to see what your choices are.
Hope this helps! Enjoy that beautiful part of the world!
