This hotel is SO easy to locate from drop off 783 airport bus.. a mere 2 mins walk from/to Piata Universitatii metro/square. All staff really helpful and friendly. My room was basic but clean .. and at £24 a night for an en suite with balcony over life in Piata Rosetti, this was a fanastic deal. Bucharest was wonderful and... More

this is not a review of the hotel but a review of the restaurant and bar downstairs! the banat is in the old part of Bucharest and the great thing about it as opposed to lipscani is that it's not gentrified yet. it's a little funky in parts but during the day I felt safe! as for the banat bar... The spatious 3-room apartment was very old, but because of that rather charming, it was clean and everything worked including the air conditioning. We just wished the menu card for breakfast was translated, but we ordered the omelette which was quite ok., although the toast bread could have been toasted and instead of fanta, an orange juice would have been... Very central location, there is a metro station near the hotel, very big rooms with a rather big bathroom, clean. Our room floor was squeaking but it was not a big problem for us.The building is a historical building and i point it out because it has a need for a renovation. The breakfast was simple but satisfying. It had drinks, some fruits, cereals, jam and butter and... More

We stayed on a triple room on the third floor. The third bed was not a real bed but a couch which was not comfy at all. It is a very old place that needs definitely renovation. The pictures shown in the website do not depict how the rooms really are. Although the cleaning is daily it doesn't seem to... More

If you find the Centru Vechi a bit too busy or touristy then take a walk along Boulevard Carol 1 towards the Armenian Church. The area has some architectural gems and has a real feeling of faded grandeur. The terrasse at the Banat is a great place to people watch and to experience the feel of old unreconstructed Bucharest. Not... More

We had 2 nights there and as others have said, you can't beat the location. I liked the old charm of the hotel and the french atmosphere with the cafe at ground level and the tables on the street, Our room was very spacious with a long passage leading to the bathroom and a separate area where we could have... Built in 1930 and it looks and feels it. I haven't figured out why in these older building the first floor is really the third so you have to carry your luggage two flights to get to the elevator, especiality after traveling for 17 hours. I always bring too much. But that's the worst of it. The elevator is a... More

As others have said, the location cannot be beat in this old fashioned backpackery place- you are short walk from the magic Lipscani district with its wide selection of cafes, clubs and one-off shopping experiences. In fact, this is probably why Banat doesn't bother much about modernising the rooms- if things like missing glass in light fixtures and 70s style... More

I spent four nights at Banat Hotel and, as everybody says, the location, is excellent. My stay was pleasant, the room spacious, clean, comfortable and full of light. WiFi good, the bathroom had been recently renovated and it was clean. I read some negative comments about this hotel. I just say that for such a good price, you can't expect... More

“I LOVED having room with balcony facing onto Piata Rosetti and all traffic and nightlife (had Boots earplugs for later on). It was just perfect to be able to sit out on balcony in September and absorb local atmosphere in 20+ degrees. If you have come for peace and quiet and no atmosphere, then choose room away from Piata.”
