Detailed Reviews
The hotel is not Redisson, of course, but if you want a room for one night, during your bus`s trip, this one is just all you need. You`ll find the main entrance of the hotel in a few meters from your Ticabus. Room is small and simple, but clean and with aircon. Bath is clean and no problem with hot water. What else do you need? :-) By the way, you should prebook a room by internet, because the hotel is quite popular and, possible, they`ll haven`t avaliable rooms in time of your arriving. You should just send your request to the hotel, it`s enough for reservation. If you a passenger of Ticabus, don`t forget to tell them about it to get a discount.

Stayed here following bus from Guatemala City to San Salvador. The hotel is owned and run by Tica Bus, so is highly convenient if getting off or onto one of their buses.
The room was clean enough, no rubbish bin a hassle, fan. Shared bathroom was also fine. Cold water.
Staff were friendly enough. Location was good with 24h Denny's nearby, as well as many other fast food joints within walking distance. Short taxi to some proper restaurants and bars. Good proximity to a couple of important museums and the theatre. Offers its own restaurant also. Tica bus office on site, usual office hours and departing bus hours only.
One very annoying thing was there being no luggage storage facility. We were leaving on a 3am bus to Nicaragua and didn't feel like booking a whole night would be worthwhile given a night at the theatre and dinner after wouldn't leave long until the bus. The place was at least 70% empty. Surely there is something they can do about this, unless it is a cynical ploy to make you book a full night unnecessarily. We ended up using the highly rated hostel across the road who charged us $5USD to store our bags until 2am.
We paid $24USD for a double room (actually a twin) with shared bathroom. This is cheaper than if you book in advance so during low season, hit them up when you arrive.

I have stayed at Hotel Meson de Maria in San Salvador on several occasions. There are so many reasons to stay there. It is centrally located in an upscale neighborhood, the price is reasonable, rooms are clean, and the staff are very helpful. There is an upper deck to relax after a long day. And as you sits there, your appetite grows for a meal from the Wendy's you're seeing up the street. Try to reserve before traveling to secure a spot.

Overpriced and basic.
staff don't seem to know anything nor are very helpful.
Too much easy business from Ticabus I suspect
Only worth staying I would say if you are two or more people wanting a room together and are travelling on with Tica. For that, it is undeniably convenient and the easiest best option.
otherwise, single travellers, try Hostel Australiano down 500m down the road near plaza beethoven

Transiting from Guatemala to Costa Rica, I came here because it's right above the Tica Bus terminal (San Benito). Not knowing what to expect, I was treated like royalty even if I was on a very low budget. The manager, Estela de Hernandez, took care of me personally and made sure I was completely satisfied. I have'nt been treated like this in a while and could not possibly ask for more. I would recommend this place anytime. A really clean, polite, charming little place. Not to mention the kindness of the personnel. Thank you so very much. Daniel Duhamel, Montreal, Quebec

Traveling from Honduras to San Salvador, the Tica bus dumps you out all the way across town, in an area/neighborhood that it isn't wise for a gringo to be in. LIkewise, there is a hotel immediately next to the Tica bus terminal there....NOT!!
A $10 taxi ride will take you across town, and to the steps of Meson de Maria.
The Tica bus coming from Guatemala stops at the Meson de Maria, but the Tica bus from Hondruas does "not stop here".
A great place to stay, the prices are reasonable, even for the executive rooms, which include Air Conditioning and a private bath.
We were there for three nights...
The place is clean, and service is very good. The restaurant food is decent, although I would not call it gourmet, and the food prices are reasonable.
I hate to do this, but there are only two things that I can ding them on, and in fact, they are a negative for a traveling gringo.
Almost at the doorstep, there are multiple, independent taxi drivers which appear to be connected, or have some agreement with the hotel. Their service is great; the hotel will call a taxi for your, or the driver will remember that you made an arrangement with him yesterday to come an pick you up again.
Remember that I said that taxi service is great, but the fares aren't consistent. It will cost you $5 to ride 8 or 10 blocks to the mall, and the next driver might charge you $8. Ask them before you get into the cab, what the trip fare is.
The wireless signal for the internet is reasonably strong, but whenever we where there, they reset the modem multiple times, and suddenly we would find, right in the middle of something, that there was no wireless signal.
I understand that the hotel staff have procedures/rules that they are obliged to go by, and there are terminals available in the lobby for internet use.
For some reason, I couldn't get checked in on the wireless signal, so I used a terminal in the lobby.
Unfortunately, the hotel/staff don't offer printing services, and so even if they were willing, they declined to print the airline ticket that I needed a copy of, or my boarding passes.
With their directions, we first made a trip to a local farmacia, and then a three block walk to an internet cafe, where I finally got the pages printed that I needed.
Again, I don't disagree with their rules, but this is definitely a negative for a traveler who needs to have a paper copy of something.
Coming from, or going to Hondruas, take the King Quality Bus, as their terminal is in the very, next block from Meson de Maria, and while the fare/cost is more than Tica, $35 instead of $15, you'll get get a blanket, a pillow, reclining seats, breakfast, coffee, water, a snack for lunch, and continuous movies during the entire trip.
If I return to El Salvador, I would definitely stay at Meson de Maria.

I travel through Central America a few times a year and this hotel beats them all. Not only is it right at the Tica Bus station but there are other transport stations near by. It is very close to the main park outdoor local market and all the great eating spots around town. Taxi Cabs right out the front door always a guard on duty. As for clean I always see the staff busy keeping the place in good condition.
I always feel welcome here and taken care of by the staff. The INTERNET needs to be worked on and I have written and talked with them about upgrading there speed and signal for WiFi use . If you do not have a laptop or tablet they have there own computers for the long staying guest to use, so no worries about staying in touch with family and friends or doing business
Rooms are very nice and you have a wide range to choose from TV, A/C, Hot Water very clean, but you must call ahead to get the room of your needs. lots of bus travels just stay for a few hours at a very cheap rate, so do not lose the room you want call or email ahead of time . there are some very nice rooms in the back for privacy and at night it is very secure if your coming back late the guard lets you in .
Night life is all around here so you can walk or $5 cab ride . I like walking and cabing back it is a safe area to walk around at night . So enjoy your time and stay at this great location !!!!

Tica bus travelers: this hotel is above the bus terminal and is very convenient for those traveling on the next day. Another great amenity is the in house restaraunt that is delicious and very inexpensive. Only that it close at 9 pm but opens at 6am. Also the room is 34 dollars for two twin beds a private bath and hot water! Includes towels. This beats a hostel and it is in a nice area where there are more restaraunt as well. I enjoyed my stay compared to Nicaragua.

I've stopped here 3 times and every time I was very please with the quality vs prices, very clean, good service on the patio and very convenient if you travel with Ticabus.
You get a double room with 2 single bed and private bath for 32$. It's a traveler hotel not a resort or a 5 star Hilton. If you need a room for 4 with separate bed you pay 16$ pp.
I don't know what people are complaining about, do your homework! If you want a nicer hotel just go across the street to the Sheraton or something.
I strongly recommend this hotel for the budget traveler/back packer and the food is pretty good considering that the most expensive item on the menu is 6.50$!

Let me list you the pros and cons I've seen of this hotel during my short stay.
The good things: * Most of their occupancy is from people travelling by Ticabus (like us), people in a bus the whole day just wants to get a bed and sleep, so the hotels turns really quiet.
* The Bus arrives and leave from the hotel, so you just don't need to translate anywhere (a big pro in a dangerous country)
*Just steps away from fast food restaurants like Pizza Hut,Wendy's and MacD.
*Wifi available included.
*I've been told that the other hotel where Ticabus stops in San Carlos (a little cheaper) is much worst than this one, and in a threatening zone of the city, so that leaves el meson de maria as the best choice (we paid $32 for a double room).
*Clean place
The bad things: *XS rooms (not small, tiny)
*We were given a room with two individuals beds, not very comforting for a couple.
*The mattress are kind of old and the pillows are extra thin
*If you are not travelling with Ticabus and need a long stay this is not a comfortable option.
*Did i mention the room was so small that you can't step without hit with something
*Amenities? what is that? two tiny soaps is all what they give you and is not even enough for a good shower.
With all that said, if you are planning to stay in there you better make a reservation first; or you may be facing the inconvenient situation of moving in a city you don't know to try to find a good place to sleep for some hours.
