Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Check in (possibly the slowest in the world on our visit) is at the Crown Plaza. Ask for directions to the old block on the other side of the pool as reception may not tell you. Rooms are much better value than at the main hotel; just discounted as they are older. But decent living room area and a microwave and coffee pot added.
The pool is a nice size between the two buildings. Very helpful concierge arranged an airport taxi and pointed us in the right direction around the grounds when reception failed!

This hotel has the kindest employees we have ever experienced at any hotel. The hotel is very clean, house keeping comes every day, breakfast is fabulous but most of all everyone at the hotel is always friendly, always trying to make everything possible, always willing to help. The pool is fun and neatly kept as is everything at the hotel. Loved it and would definitely choose it again. Good Job Plaza!

Nice hotel. All the bells and whistles. Good beds, good AC, laundry service, transportation service, great front desk, good breakfast, good dinner, strong wifi. Good location. All you could ask for. Stayed for a week. Very reasonable price. Stayed there in 2011 now in 2021. Same good quality both times. Would stay there again. Great view of the volcano.

So, I think this would have been a good deal if I could actually use the facilities of the Crowne Plaza - the hotel going under some remodelling so they don't have a pool nor the full gym. However they did offer us to take us to a country club for free, in their shuttle, but we had to schedule it beforehand. That's a little bit inconvenient and nobody advised us until we actually arrived there.
My main issue is that I felt the room was a bit spend for the condition of the room itself... torn tables, the bathroom sink was falling apart, scratched furniture, which is not a big deal, but I felt like I pay a lot of money to have the room being in this condition.
The rooms are really big and comfortable. We stayed at a single King room, had a nice view. The kitchen is really small but we weren't there for long so that was okay. It has a large living room area with a desk.
For like $11.00 we had breakfast buffet at the Crowne which was good.

Rooms are comfortable and very clean, staff is friendly and the breakfast buffet is the best one I have yet to visit. The hotel is very well located, everything was close to us. Pool is a bit small for the size of the hotel

This place is an annex to the main Crowne Plaza Hotel, and it shares some of the facilities, like gym, pool, and breakfast restaurant. The hotel is quite old, or looks old, especially due to the condition of the carpet, and TV sets. The room is apart hotel, with kitchen and living room, but each of them small. The bathroom is extremely small, almost as small as a bathroom in a Japanese business hotel. It is Ok for a 3-star hotel. Good points are that since is sharing facilities from Crowne Plaza, it has a very nice pool and gym, and also good breakfast. It has a “coin” laundry (actually a key that you buy from hotel for US$11.5 good for one day). Decent for the price.

This hotel is attached to the Crown Plaza complex. The only reason that this review did not get a 'terrible' rating was because of the facilities that you use at the crown plaza. The rooms at the Plaza Suites are terrible. Although spacious, they are very dated, extremely dirty and on my stay were very noisy. I had iron marks in the carpet, the carpets had not been vacuumed, stains on the walls, dirty bathroom etc etc. The pool and the restaurant at the crown plaza which I used were very good indeed. The staff were very helpful also. I would however never recommend or stay in the plaza suites again. Thankfully I was only there for one night.

Extremely friendly staff, very clean rooms, really nice breakfast, loved the suites. Additionally, the hotel is across the street from Torre Futura where you can find many food options or just a nice coffee.

Attended a meeting at the Crown Plaza Convention Center and was offered this hotel inside the CP, at $10 less. Accepted, and was a big mistake!!! The wing of these rooms (since you do all at the CP front desk), is nearby the convention center. It was a terrible night. First, the AC was not working, or if you turned it on it will make so much noise that you will turn it off again!!! And with the hot weather in El Salvador....The rug was rusted and deteriorated....even there was an iron mark on it. The bathroom.... totally run down....(see the pictures). The tub was DIRTY as well as the wall in the shower...did shower with sandals......was so dirty..... The AC on the aisle was not working, and the elevator was like being on a discoteque.... (all the lights flashing and you would be scared that they will stop working.....)These rooms were in good shape some 20-25 years ago.... but now is urgent to remodel them!!! Next morning went to the front desk and complaint....was changed to the Crown Plaza rooms that are 5 star rooms, and the rest of my stay was very good. FOR THE DIFFERENCE IN PRICE SO SMALL DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL... IS NOT WORTH IT!!

I stayed 2 nights in san salvatore and stayed at this hotel. I had an excellent time..very nice place to unwind after being in salinitas. Has very nice breakfast menu. The pool could use a little updating but all was fine.
