I had a room right next to reception in an open corridor. The nice pool was just a few seconds away. There was a bar in the breakfast area. The breakfast was limited but adequate. The staff were really pleasant.
One thing that stood out was the ethics of the hotel and the work it supported - worth booking the hotel for that alone.
The hotel was a great place to chill, and was reasonably central.

Finding a good hotel in Managua is quite a challenge. During my recent trip, I stayed in five different hotels within the city. This one was the best by far and not even the most expensive.

The web-site does not do the place justice. It is nicer than it looks there. There is a great but small pool in the large courtyard that is super pretty.

Our room was nice and very westernized, everything was super clean, including the sheets which was a problem elsewhere! We stayed in one of the rooms off the courtyard which seemed to be the newer part of the hotel.

The staff was really nice. The guy at the front desk even ran out to buy me tampons when I asked if they knew where the closest pharmacy was.

The neighborhood, Bolonia is very nice although there did not seem to be a lot of restaurants within walking distance. However, that is pretty much the case for most of Managua since it is so spread out. Bolonia is an upper class residential neighborhood.

The food is very good however quite expensive by Nicaraguan standards.

I travel to Managua frequently and I am always looking for a clean, comfortable, enjoyable stay and the Hotel Europeo exceeded my expectations. The room was cozy, clean and nicely decorated. We had a small balcony that overlooked the nicely landscaped pool. I stayed three nights here and would definitely return. Everyone at the front desk was very helpful and the groundspeople maintained the property very well. The Hotel Europeo represents an oasis in Managua, the only drawback being its distance from the Carretera Masaya restaurants. The hotel is a quiet, delightful and reasonably-priced stay. I will probably return with a group of my college students in July.

My boyfriend and I stayed here on my first visit to Nicaragua. He had stayed in other hotels in Managua, but found out about this place from some people he knows, and was really happy about it. As another review mentioned, the pictures really don't do this hotel justice - it's really pretty, and has a great atmosphere. The pool area is very inviting, and we loved the restaurant - had both breakfast and dinner here. We stayed on the way to and from the airport/San Juan del Sur, and it was perfect in that it's fairly close to the airport, has a restaurant on site, and is very reasonably priced for what you get. Staff is very friendly and helpful. We have stayed in both a room with a balcony over the pool, and a larger one in the older part of the hotel. Both were very nice. The neighborhood is pretty upscale which is also a plus. We will be staying here again this March.

I stayed at Hotel Europeo, Managua from Dec26 to Dec 30 2006. I liked it. The rooms are clean, however the air conditionning is abit noisy. The Tv set is small but it has all the channels. The restaurant/bar/pool is surrounded with plants iand is simply a wonderful place to relax after a hard day touring Managua and its surroundings. I also found the personnel friendly. Internet is avaialble and it's free. However the hotel is in a nice and clam neighborhood. It means no nightlife. The hotel is 3 to 5 minutes away from downtown and 30 minutes from the airport. You will need transportation for almost everywhere you want to go.

Staff terrible. Why show the worst room in the hotel first and charging full price for it? Refused to accept and then she "found" another room for the same price witch was about ten times nicer. Lots of problems with A/C and hot water in the shower. Did get sorted out during the stay but no refund. Restaurant on spot served bad fruit for breakfast witch made us sick for two days. Would not stay here again ever.

My daughter and I travelled to Nicaragua (August 2009) to visit with our World Vision sponsored child and her mother. It is a beautiful country with many beautiful people! The Hotel Europeo is located within walking distance of a hospital as well as the World Vision offices in Managua. It is a lovely, clean hotel with many amenities that includes breakfast in the low rates! I learned that this non-profit hotel pays its staff a decent wage and any profits are used to provide education to so many who live in poverty. Whether in Managua on business, pleasure, or with NGOs, this is a super hotel and location. If you do not speak Spanish, try booking your tours of Nicaragua through Greyline, which offers guides as well as tours of this beautiful country!

Good hotel for the price. small but nice pool. Room was nothing fancy but clean. If you have to leave very early--there is no one at the desk and it is pitch black! There is a staff person outside the front door. -just fyi. Took longer to get to/from the airport than expected.

I arrived in Managua late at night and had to drive my rental car from the airport to the hotel. Despite the lack of street signs and street lights in Managua, the hotel was easy to find since it's not too far off the main road that leads into Managua from the airport. The staff was friendly and accommodating - especially when the internet wasn't working too well in the room due to heavy rains. They reset it and then it worked perfectly. The room was very clean and comfortable, and I even had hot water (which is not always available in Nicaraguan hotels). The hotel is also walking distance from several restaurants and a supermarket so I was able to easily use it as my base for a few days in Managua. The hotel also has parking and a guard out front so I felt comfortable parking my rental car there. The pools and bar areas are lush, green, and very well appointed. I would stay at the Hotel Europeo again.

This is a very nice little hotel with pleasant staff and rooms clean and comfortable. The pool are very nice to spend a quiet afternoon. It was recommended to us by a friend and I would equally recommend it to others. Close to Tica bus office if you are traveling on.
My only minor complaint was that there was a wedding that took up the whole pool area (our reason for choosing) that we weren't advised of at time of booking or at checking in. The staff did bring us a complimentary drink when we mentioned this inconvenience and there was nothing they could do to change the situation.
If traveling through Nicaragua again I would definitely book again at this lovely, homely and forward thinking hotel.

"Of the rooms I stayed in, 11 was my preferred. It is set off in the far hallway, but was spacious and had the best hot shower. 6 was fine, also spacious with a nice bathroom. But it is in the main corridor near the reception, and you will hear people talking and dragging their luggage up and down the bumpy tiled floor. 3 was a very small single and the bathroom was really quite terrible compared to the others. Cold shower, less appealing decor, and hard to maneuver in the small space. Avoid this room if you can."
