Honestly, there are not such great accommodation options in Managua, and I'm so grateful to have found El Almendro. I will always stay here in Managua and I recommend that you do too! I have stayed here twice in 2023. The first time I was with my fiancee, and the second time when we returned for our Oct. wedding in Granada. We spent a few nights at this hotel with my parents before the wedding. Spacious rooms, good security, good AC, hot water showers, incredibly friendly staff, nice pool with sitting areas around, great breakfast made-to-order, good location, and the place feels very local. I like supporting smaller locally-owned and operated places, instead of hotel chains owned by foreign billionaires. Some of the rooms have kitchenettes and couches.
It is across the street from a great restaurant where we ate a few times, Metro De Asado, with large portions of really delicious food, as well as a block away from a book/art/school supply store (Libreria Hispamer) and really nice cafe/restaurant that serves delicious food and drinks, called El Molino Coffee Shop. There are also local Nica food stands within walking distance so that you can experience more local food. We had a rental car the second time and could securely park it inside the hotel grounds. The first time we didn't have a car, and found it to be a convenient location, very close to a main bus stop at "La Uca" (Universidad Centroamericana).

Warm and helpful staff, good breakfast (toast, gallo pinto, scrambled eggs with or without ham, fried egg, fruit plate, coffee and juice), great Wi-Fi, central and safe location, clean rooms and hotel facilities, small pool for cooling. Walking distance to the shopping center in 5min. The hotel complex is equipped with

We stayed at this hotel twice and it is great! The staff are very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is outstanding. The rooms are very nice and spotlessly clean. This will be my "go to" place in Managua from now on!

I have stayed at this hotel three times over three years so this is not a hasty review. On my last visit my UK mobile phone was stolen from a locked hotel room. I reported this to the security guard who was the only person on duty at 5pm on a Saturday. He denied understanding my Spanish until I said that I was calling in the police. Please note that I have an 'A' level equivalent qualification in Spanish speaking and listening and have been to Latin America 14 times. I then spoke to the receptionist at her home. She denied understanding my English until I said that I was calling in the police. The following morning the hotel owner got involved and things temporarily improved as he arranged for me to go to the police and get the official document for an insurance claim. He promised to phone me back on my Nicaraguan mobile to tell me what was happening but failed to do so. Note that there are three hotels in neighbouring Reparto San Juan with exactly the same facilities minus the swimming pool for just over half the price of this hotel.

We highly recommend this hotel. My husband stayed here first at the end of October 2013, before we married. We both came a year later after we we're married. Together, this is our third visit to Managua. We stopped here on our way to visit the corn islands.
This hotel arranged for our pick up at the airport and a ride to the airport, both coming and going from the corn island.
I love that this hotel has a fridge, microwave, and a small kitchen in the room. It even has hot water for your showers and an a/c in the rooms. The staff here really go out of there way to accommodate all your needs.

My friends & I stayed here for 3 nights. Secure parking (key in Managua), friendly but somewhat distant staff. Clean comfortable rooms with good aircon. Big showers, non aircon bathroom. Nice compact pool area. Descent breakfast. The mall nearby is a surprising oddity and fascinating look at young Nica life. Take a cab to go anywhere, but you can walk to the mall at night with friends.
Oh the razor barbed wire decor outside while not warm & fuzzy made for restful sleep.
Airport is 30-40 min. It's a really busy stretch.

We checked in late in the evening after arriving in town by plane. The person who checked us in was helpful and quickly got us into our room. The room cooled down quickly with the AC on. The beds were comfortable. The room was quiet. The shower was hot. The breakfast was good with gallo pinto, fruit, fruit juices, coffee, bread with butter/jelly, and I believe there was some cereal as well. My 2 young daughters (4 and 1) enjoyed playing in the swimming pool. Overall, a nice play to stay in Managua.

If you like US style rooms (two beds, tv, etc...) and a Spanish colonial setting (fountains, courtyard, tiles), you will absolutely love this charming little hotel. Very clean, quaint, and lovely staff round out the experience. Would definitely stay here again next time I am in Managua. The otra embajada restaurant (closed Sundays) is within walking distance.

Great quiet little oasis in otherwise busy Managua. Peaceful mornings with bird song and peal of cathedral bells. We visited twice during a long filming trip and each time felt like a restful break, a brief refuge. Nice little grounds filled with plants with very friendly and attentive staff. Good little breakfasts laid on as well. Nice coffee.

We found El Almendro when looking for a small hotel close to Hotel Intercontinental and Metro Center shopping mall. It was a 10-15 minute walk through a safe neighborhood, although you do have to cross busy Carretera Masaya (we always did so at a traffic light!). The hotel is very close to the excellent Hispamer Bookstore, which also houses Café Molina, a nice spot for coffee or light lunch.
Returning late at night we usually chose to take a taxi. The facility is quiet and quite secure, with rooms mostly on one level, with courtyards and sitting areas throughout. There is a small pool, but it was undergoing maintenance during our 5-day stay. Rooms were modern, clean and pleasant, with a spacious bathroom and plenty of hot water. Wi-fi was generally reliable. Breakfast was nice, with fresh fruit, cereal and breads, and staff ready to make eggs to order at your request. Front desk staff friendly and helpful.

Hi. The hotel is hidden from the main road, however, if you give a taxi driver the address (Rotonda Ruben Dario 1 cuadra al sur, 3 cuadras al oeste. 1/2 cuadral al Sur) or ask to go to Metrocentro and from there it is just slightly west before UCA. There is a Puma Gas station at the Rotunda Ruben Dario across from Metro Centro Mall continue west about 400 metres (2nd street on the left/south) just before UCA (University of Central America). Take the left and it's about 100 metres down the road on the right. You can walk from the hotel to Metrocentro Shopping Centre in about 3 minutes. Some taxi drivers will know the hotel - all will know the neighbourhood and once you are in the neighbourhood (Metrocentro Shopping Centre) it's about 400 metres away. It's a great hotel in a great location for the North end of Managua and it's quite easy to find. Hope this helps. Safe travels.
