Playa Coronado, Panama54 contributions40 helpful votes
Golf buddies played six Panama courses, with Summit in Panama City’s rainforest, being hilly, well maintained and challenging. It and Tucan Country Club and Golf Resort should be added to every golfers must-play list. Head to the beach courses, where 3 of the four are a great value. If you want to pay $75 for weeds, linoleum greens, and tree roots, Coronado is the course to play.

Unbelievably dishonest staff who lied to me about basically everything. I was here following the death of a friend and already under immense stress and pressure and they made everything worse. Lied about the problems with the climate control, lied about when they were getting back to me, rarely even answered the phone when I called the front desk. Just an absurdly mismanaged hotel. Not to mention the fact the place is completely run down. Look at the carpet outside my room. What a dump.

My wife and I visited Panama for the very first time in March 2023. We selected this hotel for part of our stay due to its location close to the city, close to the canal, and because it had an on-site golf course. When we travel I like to play while my wife likes to sit at the pool. My poor experience with this hotel started before I even arrived. Despite making several inquiries about tee time availability, I received no response from contact methods listed on their website. This didn’t deter me too much as I have played all over the world and have never had issues being fit in as a single player. The lack of customer service also reared itself when my third party booking agent attempted to make inquiries to adjust our booking but also could not get In touch with anyone at the hotel. My disappointment grew when we booked into the hotel. I was immediately told that golf would not be available for the duration of my visit as the hotel was hosting a kids tournament. I was told more than once that they could not fit me in anywhere. ( even though the next 2 mornings I saw several people playing in the morning before the tournament was started) When I made on-site inquiries about adjusting the reservation, I was told a manager needed to be consulted. They proceeded to charge me for the entire reservation. The location is good for seeing the canal, and also convenient for some trips - I recommend visiting Monkey Island. The on site restaurant is very basic, and is barely above pub food. The breakfast bar is sufficient. My wife and I are avid runners but this location is not conducive for that. The roadway nearby has no shoulders and traffic in the area made the prospect of running far too dangerous. The hotel was also hosting a wedding during our stay so they cordoned off a large part of their outdoor area for that purpose which left the one available pool overcrowded with minimal sun beds for the rest of the guests. Given the above noted disappointments, my wife and I decided to check in to another hotel. I tried repeatedly to touch base with a manager to shorten our stay. Finally on the second day I spoke to one who seemed understanding to our grievances. We came to an agreement that I even though we were checking out after 2 days, I would pay for a third, and he in turn would not charge me for the last day of our original reservation. He said it may take some time for my account to be credited. When I checked out, I asked for a receipt, and was, again, told that a manager would have to do that when they got in. A month after our stay, and after several attempts to reach the hotel, some correspondence which was responded to, the hotel has yet to issue a credit, and they have pretty much had zero dialogue. Although, we very much enjoyed our trip to Panama and will be making a return in the near future, we will not be going back to this hotel.

We are very happy to have found this property, the rainforest right outside the city. We split our stay in Panama between Panama City and the rainforest and this hotel did not disappoint. Our balcony overlooked the forest and every morning we opened our door to hear the birds, frogs, and one morning, a howler monkey. We took advantage of the tours to see the sloths, butterflies, frogs and the other animals whose habitat is the golf and resort property. There are very nice trails you can explore on your own or sign up for a guided tour. We also took advantage of the shuttle to go to the Parque Metropolitan where we spent more time in the natural beauty of Panama. I highly recommend adding this stop to a trip around Panama City to see the natural side of the area. The hotel does need updating. As with a lot of places, the place probably suffered during the pandemic. However, every member of the staff we came in contact with went above and beyond to make us comfortable. They were very kind and accommodating, and very helpful since we do not speak Spanish and sometimes that was a challenge. I highly recommend this property and look forward to returning.

Grounds are beautiful, tours (might be a charge if you don't have the all inclusive package, confirm with hotel) within the property to see plants, animals, and flowers. Hotel was clean, staff was very attentive. We got the all inclusive option which included breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner buffets along with free drinks (from their all inclusive menu. Very reasonably priced for an all inclusive. We took the golf cart tour and were able to see caimans, turtles, and birds. The next day we did the rainforest walk, butterfly habitat, sloth rehabilitation center, and frog pond. The only negatives were: -No towels in room on arrival - this was quickly remedied b by hotel staff. -One of the tours did not have English language available-not a big deal since we traveled to a Spanish speaking country without knowing the language. This could be an issue anywhere. A few of the guests on the tour helped translate at times and a used a translation app for additional assistance. So while I might have missed out on the narration there was still ample scenery and animals to be seen. I turned this tour into a photo expedition for the most part. I would definitely stay here again.

Hotel situated in lush rainforest grounds with a large golf course. Rooms dated but comfortable and kept very clean. Hotel quiet Monday to Friday but very busy & loud at the weekends. Buffet breakfast consistently good. Staff in restaurants friendly. Evening buffet only just average during the week but much better at the weekend which is reflected with the increased price. A la carte menu mainly wraps, pizzas etc. which taste good. Hotel advertises a "free" shuttle service to local attractions. As we are 2 old age pensioners holidaying with a friend, and not having been to Panama before, this was particularly appealing. When we used the shuttle to Miraflores Lock to our utter dismay no transport arrived to collect us despite clarifying the time & pick up point with the driver, which was the same as written on the registration sheet at the hotel reception desk. We arrived at the pick up point 10 minutes early and stood in 33-degree heat for 40 minutes unsure of what to do. A lovely young man working at Miraflores Lock telephoned the hotel 3 times on our behalf, but no-one answered the phone. We decided we would catch a bus back to the hotel, but the man at Miraflores informed us you cannot get on a bus unless you have a card to pay with-cash not accepted. Luckily, we managed to get a taxi. The driver obviously seeing our distress must have charged us accordingly by the gasp from the hotel receptionist when we told her when we went to find out what happened to our pick up. The receptionist said that she would contact transport and give us answers that evening. When we returned to reception, we were told the answer would be the following day. I asked to speak to the hotel manager which is when the receptionist said that it was nothing to do with the hotel manager but someone outside provides the transport as a " favour to the hotel and its free". We were told we'd be given an answer the following day. Reception busy with many people each time we went by so waited until evening and asked again. We were then told we should have been at reception at 8a.m that morning so they could phone the person running the transport, which we hadn't been told to do. So we were told to be at reception at 8a.m the following morning which we were, only to be told that the person would meet us at lunch time. Returned at lunch time and the receptionist telephoned the person but he didn't answer. Receptionist asked for our mobile no. and said she would get the person to phone us-but you've guessed it no phone call happened. By this time, I just wanted to carry on with our holiday as I hate complaining and didn't have the energy to continue to press the matter. Despite several of the receptionists knowing of our predicament no-one asked if the situation had been resolved. For personal safety reasons the hotel needs to make it very clear that when booking onto the shuttle " it's a favour" and nothing to do with the hotel and there's a risk you may have to find your own way back. We would have been happy to pay for a shuttle service if the hotel provided this. We did use the shuttle again with reassurance from the receptionist that we would be collected but was very apprehensive when doing so. I only hope that if any old age pensioners or anyone from Panama visiting my capital city of London never find themselves in this most upsetting & distressing position in an unfamiliar country.

Some really good stuff here and some really bad. I say go no where near this place on weekends. On saturday March 4th they had FOUR weddings and TWO big birthday parties, as well as loud karokee. All the weddings and birthday had DJ's and super loud disco music kept us awake till 2am we were on the 7th floor. Having said that on Mon-Thur, it was pretty quiet and nice the hotel has trails and wildlife to view. Or room deck was better than the pipeline wildlife tower, monkeys, birds, sloths all on the premises. Very hard to review.

Arrived on Tuesday night. Restaurant was closed and no hotel store to get any food or beverage. Staff was courteous presidential suite was amazing. Phones didn't work nor did the safe. Asked numerous times to have them fixed but never happened. Hotel was nice and quiet not many people until the weekend. Food at the Mulligans pub was great and affordable. Pools were nice and the daily tours of the resort were led by very friendly staff. Overall. If you are looking for a relaxing quiet stay this is the place to be during the week.

Our room clean, pillow was very hard we asked to get it changed not much of a difference checking in took time, breakfast not very exciting pretty basic.
