Stayed for 4 nights during a business event. The hotel's main attraction is that it offers a beachfront location less than 30 minutes away from the city. However, I found the beach itself to be nothing special. Room was large and had a very nice oceanfront balcony. Breakfast was good. The hotel has several pools and outdoor spaces to enjoy. Gym could definitely use an upgrade. Would I pick this place as a vacation destination for a great beach? Probably no.

Beautiful hotel, most of the staff was extremely pleasant and accomodating. Our 5 yr old son loved the pool, the kids club was very lack lustre, it didn't open on time, they didn't take any precautiosn when registering to drop off and pick up kids. We love the view from our rooms, the hostess at the club lounge Linda was so warm and gracious she made our visit to Panama memorable. We enjoyed having our breakfast there int he morning with the beautiful views. I really loved doing morning walks on the beach and the gym is very decent. The room service food was quite good! sometimes we opted for tht instead of buffet. i would definitely stay here again.

I never write reviews. Roberto the manager at The Starfish restaurant made my stay special. Every morning it was my pleasure to see his smiling face. The hotel was likely stunning in it's day but is starting to show signs of age. It's still very nice. The pools are beautiful, grand and clean. The rooms spacious and again clean. The food was above average. The gym was a disappointment. The location was not convenient to downtown activities, I knew it wouldn't be but I mistakenly prioritized the beach and pools. The staff was friendly but Roberto stood out, his engaging energy should be recognized and emulated. -Michael

PERFECT LOCATION!! I absolutely loved the picturesque views on both sides of the hotel. Forest views on one side and views of the Panama Canal on the other. The all inclusive service was just that, from the staff to the food and drinks. I can’t wait to go back and bring my family!

Not the Westin experience I'm used to. The hotel is gorgeous. I've been a loyal SPG member with platinum status and love the Westin brand in particular. As soon as I smell white tea aloe I tye lobby I'm at home. My family has stayed on Hawaii, Fiji and Brazil to name a few. The service is usually outstanding. But as soon I checked in , I was made to feel like a 2nd class citizen because I used points. I had booked a suite a with club access and told this was not part of my room but would be added as a courtesy. I had the printout of my reservation they specified all the details. The hotel is extremely quite and not busy, I asked if it was possible to get Oceanview based on my status om eligible for upgrade if possible. I wss told no...with no eye contact and a curt way. This is very disappointing when it takes so little to help make the experience memorable. All my questions were answered in rude tone it wasn't a great way to start the trip. But luckily the other staff the helped luggage and encountered restaurants have been amazing. Will make most of time here as quality family time is so sacred.…

They want to steel your money. If they have the opportunity, they will upcharge you and make sue you pay extra. They would rather charge you for a plate of chips even if you spend 150 dollars on drinks. There is no respect for the guests. General workers are happy and very glad to see you. Management does not care. If you are a Marriott Bonvoy member, don't bother. They will charge you all they can.

Depending upon what you're looking for, this hotel may be perfect or may miss the mark. We stayed here for 3 nights and it was OK. Room - we were upgraded to a beautiful renewal suite on the 18th floor. The room is very large and has amazing views of the Pacific ocean. Hotel - the hotel was very busy with people celebrating Carnival. The elevators could not really accommodate the number of people - long waits and stopping on almost floor. The pool areas were crowed (with a number of unoccupied chairs but marked by towels). A band or DJ played outside every night until about midnight. Rather than point the speakers toward the beach, the speakers were in the courtyard so the sound travels straight up...to every guest room. It was VERY loud. Food - most hotel guests were wearing bracelets indicating that they were either on an all-inclusive plan or were day guests. As a result, the hotel restaurants were buffet style with mediocre food. Service - limited. We tried the "executive lounge" on the 19th floor a couple of times and it was a bust. Totally over-run by families with little kids at all hours (despite signs saying this wasn't allowed). No one was manning the door so everyone crashed the club for free beer. Also, be aware the hotel Wi-Fi is painfully slow. Location - the hotel is "on the other side" of the Panama Canal from the old town and most of the attractions (Amador Causeway, restaurants, etc.). Taking an Uber is pretty easy and cheap but it means you're spending about 20 minutes getting to/from anywhere, which gets a little old. Overall - if you want to stay at a resort property in Panama City and rarely leave the property this could be a good option (especially if booking with points). If you want to be closer to the action, or stay in a higher quality hotel (not resort), I'd look elsewhere.…

The hotel and staff are magnificent. Rosa at the checkin desk and Yamileth at Tierra y Fuego were the best!!!! Yami remembered our drinks from the night before in a different restaurant in the resort. One of the best vacations ever!!!

We arrived at the Westin Playa Bonita for a one week stay through Sunwing as all-inclusive. The interior of the hotel is beautiful!! We had an ocean view room which had beautiful views!! The exterior of the hotel however, could use some maintenance. The pools could definitely use some refurbishing and the chairs were old and many broken. The swim up bar was closed for half the time we were there. The weekend was definitely busier as locals come to the hotel. During the week, the hotel was pretty quiet other than conferences. Since the hotel was busier on the weekends, they had entertainment in the lobby bar which was really nice. The beach is awful unfortunately. The tide goes way out around noon and returns around dinner. If you want to attempt to swim in it, I highly recommend water shoes! There are tons of rocks and seashells from the tide. The food was good at the buffets and the a la cartes. Our favourite restaurant was the Asian. Room service cost us extra which makes no sense to me and was a bit annoying. We had breakfast one day in our room and it cost $50! Paying for meals was probably similar to restaurants at home. Drinks, however, were cheap and good! I only have two main complaints. The service was awful! The staff seemed miserable! We tried tipping well hoping the service would improve; it didn’t. Particularly the service at the lobby bar was just awful!! My other complaint was the confusion with All inclusive. We were given a slip when we checked in of what was included with all inclusive and what wasn’t. To me, all inclusive is all inclusive. I am not sure why we had to pay for room service which was coming from the same restaurants we could eat at for free or why we had to pay for drinks in our room. There was even one night I was told I had to pay for a drink at the Lobby Bar because it wasn’t included with all inclusive but the rest of the trip, I did not have to pay. A couple of times my husband was told we could have beer in cups to go but could not have cans to take to our room and other times we were allowed to take cans. Just seemed like frequently we were told what we could not have or do. Other than those two issues though, it was a great trip!…
