I am seventeen-years-old, and this past summer, I spent a month in Panama as a Christian missionary. For the greater part of my time in Panama, I lived on a Kuna Indian-inhabited island (Carti Mulatupu) and an Embera Indian village in the jungle (Maje). However, when my team returned to the city to restock our supplies and go shopping, we would spend a few days at Hotel Aramo.

Hotel Aramo is a great hotel for the price. Because our group nearly filled it, they gave us a great deal- $8 a night per missionary. Though the price is higher for a regular client, it is still extremely cheap. I would definitely stay at Hotel Aramo again- even if my trip to Panama was not mission-based, but meant for a vacation. I wouldn't stay anywhere else. I will list positives and negatives--

POSITIVES:
---Great hotel staff. Very friendly. They speak a bit of English and are very quick to help you with whatever you need. One of the housekeepers actually became like a mother to me! They are a great group of men and women who work hard to leave you happy.
---Clean rooms and bathrooms. They aren't beautiful, but if you're just looking for a place to keep your things and sleep at night, they work just fine.
---Airconditioned. Each room has a window AC unit and you can decided how cold you want your room.
-Pool and terrace. It was clean and provided lots of fun for us while in the city.
---Price. Self-explanatory. =)
---Situated across from a 24-hour gas station with store. A supermarket is located just a short walk away, as are many small shops and places to eat! You can have a fun time just walking this area of the city around the hotel.
---Restaurant by the lobby. The restaurant is tiny, but you can sit down and have a good Panamanian meal, and usually for around $2 a person! (This is not an irregularity in Panama, however- most restaurants and fast-food places are much, much cheaper than you'd imagine. Excepting McDonald's.
---Most rooms have telephones and televisions. You can use your calling cards on these telephones as well.

NEGATIVES:
---No elevator. Well, there is an elevator, but it is not "trustworthy," according to the staff, and only to be used if absolutely necessary. Depending on what room you get (on which floor), the walk can be pretty tiring. But you'll have stronger legs by the end of your trip, I can guarantee you! =) In all seriousness, the lack of an elevator is tolerable for one who is fairly healthy and not extremely overweight. If that's not the case with you, try to get a room on the first floor, or just don't stay at Hotel Aramo! LOL.
---No flushing toilet paper. Many places in Panama have this rule, but if you're skeeved out by the idea of wiping yourself and throwing the soiled tissue into the garbage, you may want to stay somewhere else. It didn't bother me, and, believe it or not, there was no odor because the maids changed the garbages frequently.
---Hot water not guaranteed! I'd say 80% of my showers were hot, but there were a few cold ones! It didn't really bother me, but then, I had been living in the jungle and bathing in a river, so any shower was working for me! =)

That's about all I can think of. I highly recommend this hotel. If money is no object to you, then I can see staying at a higher-class hotel. But if you're looking to just enjoy all that Panama has to offer, save money by staying at this hotel. It's not the kind of place you want to go for your honeymoon or something- but it's great if you're serious about just enjoying all the Panama has to offer. If that's the case with you, you'll rarely be seen in your hotel anyway!

Hotel Aramo will always have a place in my heart!

It's a dump, but a nice dump. Elevator worked but button on my floor was broken so had to go down a floor to call it. Phone only worked for incoming calls. Breakfast was minimal. Good internet cafe right around the corner. Good laundry even closer. Within easy walking distance of good restaurants, pharmacy, and other shopping. Room was always clean but just bare minimum of amenities. Hey, ya get what you pay for and the price is right.

I have lived in Panama most of my life, and I see this hotel every day because I live close to it. On April 2016, I decided to check in because my apartment was being re-painted. It is good for emergencies. Good for the price, but be careful because it can be dangerous. The area is great, but this hotel seems abandoned. In fact it is as gloomy as any hotel you may see in a horror film.

Some of the dangers I encountered: an air conditioner had the cover partially opened, and the blades could have severely hurt my fingers. I walked down the stairs, and a window pane was gone, and if someone leans on the window thinking the pane is there, that could cause an accident. The shower door wasn't moving, and when it finally moved, it closed back and hurt my index finger. I ended up with a bruise. The elevator seems to be the only way to the first floor. I tried getting to the lobby through the stairs, and I ended up inside an empty parking lot around two in the morning.

Wi-fi only works on the first floor and inside the lobby. The televisions are from the 90s. My room didn't have hot water, and the air-conditioners are really old.

But it is good for the price. I'll give it that.

We were sent here after our reservations at our hotel, Tower House Suites, were in conflict with a group who couldn't leave due to Aero Perlas ceasing business in Panama with no warning. We got there and the front desk clerk was gone and no one could help us. She got back from buying here water and didn't seem to care we were waiting. The room was very basic I don't know where those pics on Tripadvisor came from. They looked way too nice to what we saw. There was no hot water, the window in the bathroom had a big hole in it, the A/C was moldy (I know it's a costal city). The elevator kept braking down. We went back to the front desk to get another room. The clerk didn't know which rooms were empty. Kept opening doors that were occupied. We decided to leave, but they wouldn't refund us. It was probably one of the WORST customer service (front desk) at any hotel I have ever visited.

The rooms and general service of this hotel do reflect the price, the price is low and so is everything else in the hotel. But the biggest sucker punch of staying in this hotel was the fact that the MAIDS STOLE MONEY OUT OF OUR BAG. I know money shouldn't be left in a bag, but it was right smack bang at the bottom of my girlfriends bag in a small make up box hidden underneath the make up, we put everything else in my locked bag, but thought this money was well hidden. Each day we came back the bag was how it was left so no reason to suspect anything, which leaves us to believe one of the maids has had the time to take everything out the bag and root through then put it all back together. Also, the safe in the room didn't even work which says it all really.

So to reiterate, THE MAIDS STEAL AT THIS HOTEL, so don't stay there.

We stayed in this hotel because of a friend's suggestion but it is, as a matter of fact, the worst hotel I every stayed. We stayed on this hotel for 3 nights and the experience was awful. We had a room for my parents on the 2nd floor and for us on the 3rd floor. The only elevator was wroken and use to work very seldom. The furniture was old and damaged. The air conditioner was extremely noisy. The shower was not properly isolated and the water flood the room. The good thing was that has parking but the entrance to the parking was very bad and we hit in the bottom of the car.

The noise isolation of the room was very bad so we listened all the noise of the people that was parting in the swimming pool during the night.

This hotel is one of the most affordable we found in a good neighbor hood of Panama City. It is walking distance to a lot of restaurants and the beds are very comfortable. But it is very run down and the internet went out while we we there. They did get it fixed after a day and a half. The water in the shower was only warm , never hot. They have a swimming pool and the crowd in the pool kept us up at night so ask for a room away from the pool.

Please do not stay there. The place is far from everything, even the cabbies don't know it good, the rooms are dated, the ac is noisy so you must turn it off to sleep, the elevator is at your own risk, we actually did stay stuck into it !!! One staff member was nice the others totally uninterested . Don't even speak about the continental breakfast, 2 toasts, from sandwich bread, 1 jam, 1 butter, and of course a very small glass of Tang juice !!! I asked for another toast, they denied it, we had to have something on the go outside because I was so hungry...Panama is great and has a lot of hotels just not the right one this one....

This is the worst hotel my family and I have stayed at. The photos published in their website are misleading. Our rooms were extremely dated. The beds were old and uncomfortable. Linens were of the worst quality. Towels were so used and they didn’t have enough of them. The AC was an old wall unit quite noisy. The bathrooms were horrible. The window wouldn’t close and hence the bathroom was always humid and warm. The breakfast was mediocre. Worst of alll was the attitude and disposition of the front desk staff and restaurant. They were rather hostile and not welcoming- unlike most panamenians. I once went down to the cafeteria before breakfast time to work on my laptop (our room didn’t have a desk) and they did not let me in. The pool is a joke and didn’t have enough chairs. The only good thing about this place is it’s location. I would definitely not recommend this place.
