We arrived from NYC to Panama @ 7:30am local time the hotel was able to accommodate us with early check-in for $50. I had already been told it would be allowed with a fee. Which was fine, we wanted to get in and change our clothing and set off on our day. Our first room was 1007, a duplex very lovely however, it is not an efficient floor plan The main floor was where the main closet was to hang clothing along with a chest with draws. Not convenient when you take a shower on the second floor and have to get dressed down stairs then go back up again to do your hair. If your a guy then it might work but It was cumbersome for me to go up and down when getting ready to go out. The staff was lovely and our room was changed later in the day to 2001 a regular room with balcony facing other buildings and backyards but was quiet and relaxing. Hot water took a little bit to reach us but once it did it was scalding. Not much water pressure which was ok with us. There is great hot-tub on the roof open 24/7 along with tables and chairs to eat or drink. No sun chairs though. I had a Jamison which cost $10 those are typical rooftop rates. We bought our bottle of Jamison and asked for glasses the next time. We were happy to find NO additional charges for our daily water replenishment and room service Tea every morning. Staff offered some tips on where to go and Sahid provided us with a Frommers travel guide to Panama which supplemented some of the research I had already done. Always felt safe there was plenty of police and military presence as the presidential and government buildings are in Casco Antiguo. The areas outside the Casco Antiguo felt just as safe too. We took the train and a bus to get to the Panama Canal which was a great experience. The transportation system in Panama City rivals any in Europe or North America in safety/cleanliness and efficiency. Wonderful hotel and city, highly recommend visiting.

In 61 years, I’ve never had a Pina Colada. Master Mixologist Daniel, changed my mind completely with his perfectly exquisite concoction. That he’s such a personable, engaging individual only enhances the total experience to be had at Villa Palma - a lovely boutique hotel in the heart of Casco Viejo. Walking distance to everything in Casco. The room was fabulous - charming, eclectic, wonderfully outfitted. All of the staff so very helpful, always cheerful and ready with suggestions and recommendations. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommended.

Located in a great position in the Old Town. We had just completed 88 day trip around South America where all the breakfast are just bread, ham and cheese. So it was great to have a menu for breakfast that supplied top quality hot food. The rooms are fantastic. If I had to have a criticism then the shower in the bathroom was very weak and the hot water took a long time to come through. This wasn’t an issue enough for me to knock any stars off. The restaurant also did lunch and dinner which like everything else was top quality. We wished we could have stayed longer.

Amazing experience - especially the restaurant Lumiere - we go a few times per month because it is the most authentic French food outside of France! The staff is very friendly and they know us by name :)

The hotel hardly meets its claim to be a 5-star establishment, One the positive side, it is in a great location, has a nice lobby and the room was spacious and well-appointed. On the negative side, first of all, most importantly, the hotel was noisy due, i was told, to the rooftop bar. My windows were shut and I still heard a lot of noise. Second, there was no bell captains to help with the luggage. This can be necessary, because, as in the case of my room, some of the rooms are designed in a way that is necessary to climb a staircase to get to it. The staircase is winding and very narrow and not easy to navigate with luggage. The service staff members, though limited in numbers, were pleasant and helpful when they were around. A special mention is directed to one receptionist that helped my book my car to airport and save $10 by booking with a competitive car service.

The Villa Palma was absolutely the ideal hotel, and Casco Viejo was the perfect location for our 4-night stay. Staff, from the welcoming Sain and Romel to the young and fun bartenders, are the best! The duplex suite was great. (If you are seniors like us, be sure the bed/half-bath are on the main floor and full bath/sitting area are up the spiral stairs.) Great balcony with views of the bay and city skycape. Helpful advice freely given. There was so much to see, do, eat and drink in CV, that we never left that area. We walked everywhere except the Seafood Market, so Ubered there for $3. We had great meals at Marea and Casa Blanca and breakfast at Patisserie Saint Honore, all very close. Finished up with the hotel's Lumiere dinner in the park with live music, a special finale.

The Good: Our room was in the back and surprisingly quiet, especially considering it was Saturday night. We had an upstairs bedroom and bath with downstairs living room. Great location. Decent AC, but the upstairs one blew over us so we shut it off and cranked the downstairs AC instead. Good hot shower. Comfy bed and pillows. The person in reception, Romel, was exceptionally nice and helpful. Spiral staircase is cool, but a little steep. The Bad: Water splashes under shower door and soaks your bath towel mat, which should be an easy fix. The upstairs bedroom only has enough room for one suitcase, so somebody else has to have theirs downstairs. The Ugly: They need to replace the sofa pillows showing too much wear. Overall the good easily outweighs the bad and ugly, so I would gladly stay there again.

I don't think I have every experienced such extraordinary service in any other hotel. Danielz thrilled us with Panamanian drinks and cold beers, Sain made sure we were totally satisfied with our room and with our meals, Kenner sent us on our way in the wee hours of the morning with happy conversation, and Carlos, the driver organized by the hotel, was friendly and helpful on our way to the airport. We actually stayed in two rooms. The first was up a steep set of spiral stairs and was quite an effort with our post-cruise baggage, but once inside, it was elegant and very comfortable. Sain was worried about our early morning departure and so moved us to a suite with an opulent sitting area, balcony, and an upstairs bedroom. Both rooms had comfy beds, elaborate baths, and luxurious décor. (One thing I would mention is that if stairs, very steep and spiral stairs, are an issue, talk to the management when making your reservation. Likewise, the tub in the suite could be challenging for someone with limited mobility.) A favorite memory will always be sitting on the balcony with a cold glass of wine looking out at Panama City across the bay. We also ate in the restaurant, which was absolutely delicious, probably the best meal we had in Panama. Sain was our server here too and he explained the dishes and talked to us about Panama as we dined. It was extraordinary. The first, night, before we had our own balcony, we took a glass of wine up to the rooftop bar, which is quite beautiful and has a lovely view. The staff is also willing to serve dinner up there, which would be very nice if it isn't too hot. The location is also wonderful. We walked throughout the old town, enjoying museums, archeology, and architecture. Sain also pointed us to some other good restaurants during our stay. The management also was able to arrange airport transportation very early on the day of our departure. It was reasonably priced and very convenient. All in all, I can't say enough positive about the Villa Palma. I would certainly return if in Panama City again.

This was a beautiful, modern, elegant hotel without being stuffy. We had a magnificent two story, 1 and a half bath room with a huge living room and dining space. View from the balcony overlooking the ocean and city skyline was spectacular. We enjoyed the restaurant both at breakfast and dinner. Al fresco dining with guitarist/singer was the highlight of our trip. Air conditioning worked very well and helped cover street noise. (This area parties until late night). We would love to stay here again. Outstanding!

Quiet part of a busy area. Stunning boutique hotel where every room is furnished uniquely. Great views from our balcony. Quiet and dark for a good night’s sleep. What really set this apart from others is its excellent customer service. We were offered a complimentary beverage of our choice at the bar upon our arrival. Check in was relaxed and easy. Sian went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and offered great suggestions about places to visit and eat. I regret missing out on the rooftop bar. The restaurant offered dining in the park in front of the hotel (as well as inside and on the roof,) Our dinner was just so-so. There are much better restaurants in the area. The wine sold at the bar was French and a very good price
