The Sortis Hotel, Spa & Casino, part of the Autograph Collection, garners praise for its plethora of dining options, serene pool, and the indulgent spa and casino, although some guests note minor room detail concerns. While cleanliness is generally celebrated, there have been isolated complaints about room upkeep. Despite some reports of billing discrepancies and the cost of services, the welcoming atmosphere and special touches like birthday decorations are frequently highlighted.
The spacious and modern rooms are well-liked, though occasional maintenance issues arise. Service is typically commended for staff attentiveness, but experiences can vary.

Detailed Reviews
Customer service at Sortis Hotel was fantastic. Concierges Montserrat & Ivan were amazing in helping us get restaurant reservations & SIM cards for our phones. Servers Deysire & Malissa in La Brasserie were perfect and Carlos the bartender at the Sports bar was great.
If I had to complain about something, I would say the physical maintenance of bathrooms at the pool bar could be better. They were clean but in poor repair and not up to my expectation of an Autograph hotel. The rooms and views from the hotel were exceptional. The food was great and prices reasonable, there were also many decent eating options nearby in various price ranges if you choose not to eat at the hotel. In all, a very enjoyable experience. I would stay there again.

I was treated like ROYALTY at the Sortis Autograph Collection Marriott in the Obarrio district of Panama City, Panamá.
I was worried that I would have to wander the city in my travel clothes because flew in at 9:30am. However I got to the Sortis hotel and the front desk said they could accommodate me and to give them one hour. I decided to eat breakfast at the brasserie where they were serving a delicious buffet. There I met Valerio!
Velerio immediately attended to me, gave me tips about Panamá and when I told him I was waiting for my room to be ready he asked if I would like a tour!
Sortis has so many great amenities like a casino, nightclub, beautiful pool with floating bed cabanas, several restaurants, a state of the art gym and a beautiful spa!
This hotel is so chic and the service is impeccable. After my tour I went back to the front desk and my room was ready a moment later. I happen to be an Elite Bonvoy member but I didn’t expect to get the penthouse floor!
My room had the best views of the city and I could see the Pacific and a little of the canal through the buildings as well as the pool way down below!
The bed was super comfortable and as someone with insomnia I slept like a baby every night. The shower is enormous; complete with an adjustable rain shower and spa bench.
There is plenty of closet space and drawers to really make yourself at home and get a little work done in a shieik desk space.
My room was cleaned daily. I haven’t been at a hotel since the pandemic where I didn’t have to ask for my room to be cleaned or ask for new towels.
Did I mention that the service at this hotel is absolutely impeccable???
Every time I went down for breakfast I was treated like a queen and the food is absolutely amazing! There was a plethoras of fresh tropical fruit, waffles and omelettes made to order with plenty of toppings, and I was addicted to the little beef empanadas made from maiz. The last day they switches the empanadas to quipes and they were equally delicious!
Valerio makes a mean cappuccino!
I’ve been here for five days and I’m checking out and checking into the Marriott Executive Apartments for the rest of my stay in Panama City this month, but I will definitely be back to Sortis when I come back to Panamá again next month!
I highly recommend Sortis if you are looking to stay in a luxury hotel in Panamá City, Panamá!

The variety of items is changed up each morning. Service is great especially the waitress Juana! No matter how busy it is she somehow is attentive to every need.
Highjy recommend the Sortis to anyone visiting Panama City especially if it’s your first time you will be well taken care of.
In addition the hotel gas a casino and is conveniently located you can get anywhere you need to go and the concierge folks will take very good care of you too.

Very well located hotel with many amenities. The service though is very bad and sound isolation is nonexistent. I could perceive street noise from my room in 7th floor and it is impossible to sleep after other guests start moving and walking in the corridors and taking the lifts. The A/C fab is loud and has one speed. So it is either off, or on an loud. One day there was a queue for breakfast. I waited 20min standing in a line for breakfast. Something unbelievable especially in a 5 star hotel. I got less towels after the first cleaning by the housekeeper. Shampoo and soap is not refilled daily. But worst is the reception desk. Most employees are incompetent. Slow to react. They can’t even process simple requests like extending a reservation. Using the parking is horribly complicated. After 7 nights, I still don’t understand if I need to validate the ticket at the reception desk or the valet office. Receptionist sends me to valet who then sends me back to reception till I lose my nerves and starts shouting at one of them. Pool is freezing. And if you need a PCR/Antigen test for your trip, it is 50% cheaper at the airport. At the hotel, they work with a lab which charges 75 $ for an antigen test. It is 30$ at the airport. So, overall a hotel that I don’t recommend, especially it is one of the most expensive in the city.

The hotel itself is a nice hotel. It is not above average, but the rooms and general hotel rise to the level of what is expected from a Marriot. I was pleased with the hotel itself.
However, the hotel staff are not welcoming. I can’t say they are rude, but they aren’t nice. Additionally we were around the hotel and had no room charging privileges. Which is literally unheard of. I spoke to the front desk staff and she said she would speak with the manager, but that never went anywhere.
They were always staring at us, kept asking for our room number in the buffet and again, we couldn’t charge anything to our rooms. In addition to this review I am going to contact Marriot directly.
I have no proof, but upon reading the reviews and seeing how nice they are to some guests and not to others I suspect that there is racial profiling at play. We are from the US, but we are WORLD travelers and have never experienced anything like this and we have been many places.
I have never had to write a review like this about any place that we have visited and I have written many reviews.
I do not recommend this hotel and if I am ever in Panama again I would t stay here.

On my fourth visit to Panama City, Panama I chose to go back to Sortis. I prefer a modern aesthetic and this hotel is just that. Modern, beautifully designed with lots of instagram-able spots to take pictures or just people watch.
The rooms are spacious with tons of storage for those of us who like to “move in” when we arrive at our destination.
Lots of vigilant security on site has me feeling very safe.
About the staff!
Servers that stood out…these individuals were attentive, friendly, went above and beyond to ensure I was happy, comfortable and had everything I needed and wanted.
Yeison who served me poolside and in the 24/7 restaurant is the sweetest.
Manual the host at the 24/7 cafe remembered me from my previous visit, I was blown away and felt special as I was warmly and enthusiastically welcomed each and every time.
About the cafe (which has a phenomenally varied menu where you can choose breakfast for dinner or lunch for breakfast) and let’s not forget the amazing fresh juice varieties!
It was everyone, the Panamanian people truly are lovely and extra hospitable!

Our experience at Sortis Hotel was nothing short of outstanding. The ambiance of the hotel was very good - an upscale modern hotel with decent prices is always a win.
Ivan in the lobby was a GREAT help and served us from beginning to end with everything we needed. He was The first person we were met with upon exiting our Uber and was extremely welcoming from start to finish. Every time we got out of the elevator and we saw him in the lobby we were greeted with a smile and great conversation.
The hotel itself had a great staff and great food - ordered room service twice and it was quick and tasty. There is a cafe / restaurant open 24hours and the casino is huge! There’s a convenience store on the corner and across the street and Casco Viejo is only 25 min away. All our Ubers were under $10 (most ranging $2-5 due to restaurants being super close). The steakhouse (pictured) was very moderately priced and super tasty! Drinks were also very good and the hotel also offers lots of specials at the restaurants which are displayed on the Tv screens in the lobby.
The room was very clean and spacious and the bed was SO comfortable. We had a nice view of the city which was nice to wake up to everyday. The shower was also HUGE. 10/10, as we were leaving we were already saying how we would be back, something I never normally say (I’m much more of an AirBnb kind of girl)
If you’re debating it, just book it. I’m extremely picky and I had absolutely no complaints.

This is a beautiful hotel and centrally located for long walks around the city if desired. This is a very busy hotel and somewhat understaffed for its size. Requests for simple things like towels and ice do take a long time. Got stuck in an elevator that would not opened on our floor but would open on other floors. Reported issue to front desk , and 20 minutes later my 10 years old daughter got stuck in the same elevator. It was taken offline for observation. Hotel has 6 elevators, temporarily taking one offline for service would not caused an uproar. Requested to speak to a Manager/GM, only to be told there was no manager or GM for this hotel and was forwarded to the Sales Department. I was Infuriated.
Hotel has beautiful rooftop area, but the pool was freezing even in March. Hotel has great potential especially for its price point, and being there are similar hotels nearby at a lower price point.

My recent stay at Sortis Hotel was overall a wonderful stay due to its location and amenities. Although I had some incidents that are still being remedied, my most memorable experience was with Ivan. He always greeted me with a beautiful smile and ask how are things going. I wanted to facilitate my meeting on the rooftop which was closed. However, he met me at my room to escort me there to allow me to take pictures and was willing to extend his time to allow me to do film my Zoom meeting. However, I took the pictures and decided to do my meeting from my room. Every day Ivan just provided a gracious and welcoming smile which really helped my experience.

Stayed here because friends in our group made reservations here. Was such a huge mistake. Between the room mix ups. The wrong keys for the rooms 4 times. No general manager on duty/premises. No hot water!!! I definitely expected a lot more that this. It’s almost like the hotel open up last week. Some of the the employees were helpful but the management needs to be overhauled on this property. Maybe instead of all the junk pop art in the lobby; you spend more money on employee’s.
The Casino- don’t get me started. Service was horrible, had to get the pit bosses attention every time we wanted a drink. They had what looked like plants in the casino to make it look busy, but no one was really gambling. Strangest thing I have ever seen. When you go to trade your chips in-They also take %10 of what ever you had.
I don’t understand how this place had such good reviews… how do you not have hot water in a Marriot hotel?
The taxes/services charges came to almost %50 of what the rooms cost for our stay.
It’s not $115-135 a night. Add 50% on to that.
Tried to go the the spa, no bueno. No one working that day, was told to schedule it for next day…..
