I stayed at the MainFare B&B in October as a secondary option while traveling on business. Basically it's gold. So glad we ended up here instead of some boring hotel.

Constructed in 1907 to celebrate the wedding reception of local resident, Blanche Hardy and husband The Count Dr. Moritz Schlick, instructor of German at Zurich University in Switzerland. MainFare Bed & Breakfast boasts unique appeal and grandeur yet reveals a warm, cozy and inviting interior home. Lovingly restored, this Shingle Style home graces Main Street and Ashburnham Center. Its attractive, picturesque charm includes quaint lead-glass windows, the second floor balcony, and rough stone columns lining the wrap around veranda. We serve a light breakfast in the dining room, with fresh fruit, homemade baked goods and specialty items. During the warmer season, our large veranda is an inviting place to dine and watch the world go by. A continental breakfast is available in your room prior to 7:30 a.m. Coffee, tea and beverages are readily available. Complimentary refreshments are served after 4:00 p.m. in the dining room. The surrounding area offers the finest furniture outlets, Wachusett Mountain ski area, Windblown Cross Country Ski Touring Center, Mount Watatic and Mount Manadnock hiking trails and the Mid-State Trail. The Gardner and Winchendon rails-to-trails bike trails and great New England back roads for hours of pleasurable touring.
