This small family owned B&B is really charming. Located in old town it has about 6 rooms, ours was on the 2nd floor and there’s no elevator. Room was nice and well decorated. We parked the car on a street nearby and it was secure. Breakfast is home made and everything was fresh and delicious!

Property's Favourite Review
My husband and I had a perfect stay here as part of our 20th anniversary trip. The property was charming and spotless, the room large and quiet, the shower wonderful, and breakfast in the garden patio was delicious. The owners and staff are kind and helpful. They arranged parking in a paid secure lot for us ahead of time and even met us there with the keycard. It was above and beyond what I expected. I appreciated the eco-nature of the hotel: automatic lights in the hallways and stairs as well as selecting breakfast options the night before so no food would be wasted. Our made-to-order food came out hot and delicious. Having the ability to truly control the room's temperature is often rare in our European travels, and was greatly appreciated. It makes such a difference for sleep. The pedestrian street is a quick walk that leads directly to the Silver Gate of Diocletian's palace. I wholeheartedly recommend staying here.

We stayed for 5 nights in the Balatura Bed and Breakfast. The location is ideal, a bit off the beaten path on a walking-only street near old town Split. It is about a 10 Minute walk to old town. The B&B has parking, which is about 10 minutes walk. Better inquire about the location of the parking before arrival because it is not easy to find. The B&B gives you a keycard to the parking for easy access. You don’t need a car to go around Split, but you can use it if you want to take day trips in the area, such as Omiš, Trogir, Zrna waterfalls, and it’s handy if you want to take a ferry and drive across a of the islands. The B&B is very clean and the room we had was comfortable and spacious. Room 101 is on the first floor, an advantage if you have heavy luggage. Unlike most B&B’s there is staff on premises and they are very helpful with tips and guidance. Breakfast is very good, there is a buffet with a variety of items (cereals, fruits), and before each day you can indicate what time you’d like breakfast and what additional items you’d like to order.

We were supposed to stay at the hotel in mid-April. On the day we were going to cross the Bosnia-Croatia border, the thief broke my car’s window and stole my passport at Pocitelj. Without hte passport, i could not continue my journey to Croatia. I contacted the hotel owner Dea and informed her of my situation. She allowed me to cancel my reservation at the very last minute even though she didn’t have to. I cannot thank her enough for her kindness. If I have an opportunity to visit Split in the future, i will stay here for sure.

I loved this place. The staff was so helpful. They let us check in early, we were exhausted from travelling all night. I changed to this location at the last minute, as the directions to other property just looked too complicated. This location was PERFECT. Walk everywhere. Beautiful, spacious room, excellent breakfast and gracious, helpful staff. Ritz Carlton quality style property. I would highly recommend. Kathleen & Bob from usa

Booked this stay due to the rave reviews on trip advisor and we're were certainly not disappointed. Lovely and quiet in a quaint old street a short walk from the Bus stops/the Riva. Rooms are beautiful and spotless, we were in room 106 which had additional space for a bed for our 11 year old in the sofa bed. Mini bar and big bathroom with shower. (you can see a video of the room on their Instagram page) We booked direct, the team were incredibly friendly, efficient and polite. Breakfast was a beautiful feast, be aware the portions you order for cheese, bread, salamis etc are large. Everything was tasty, and presented beautifully. As it was April and weather was hit and miss we were in a cosy room for breakfast, but I'd imagine breakfast on the courtyard in the sunshine in season would be magical. They lent us umbrellas when it absolutely tipped down, advised the best places to see and good restaurants to eat. They booked us a taxi back to the airport (60 euros, it was early and we didn't want to risk the bus and shuttle) and walked us to the pick up point (as presumably cars can't easily get down the lane). We'd definitely stay again when visiting Split.

We had a wonderful stay at Balatura! The location is great, just a few minutes walk to the Diocletian Palace and old town. Honestly, I loved everything about this B&B - the breakfasts were delicious and ample, the rooms were comfortable and well-appointed, and the staff was absolutely lovely. We stayed here five nights, so we talked to several staff members, and every one of them made me feel like they would do anything to help us. Two mornings we woke early for day trips (outside of regular breakfast hours) and they made us a full breakfast early! I highly recommend staying here - you won't be disappointed.

From booking to departure, our experience with Balatura and its fantastic owners was 5/5 all the way! Dea was so approachable and communicative from the start. The pictures truly do not do the place justice. We went with two other couples right before the start of the tourist season, so we had the place all to ourselves! I could gush and gush about the breakfast served to each of us in the morning! And just steps from the Silver gate of Diocletian's Palace, so it is easily a walkable stay when you are in Split. We never used the car once while there. I've three tips to point out about the Balatura if you decide to stay: 1) Be sure to note there is no elevator and two of the guest rooms are on the 3rd floor (2 flights up), 2) Be sure to note that there is no on-site parking, but Dea can secure you a spot if you let her know in advance. And it is about a 5-6 minute walk from the Balatura to the parking spot, 3) Dea and her family are sooooo generous with breakfast! Be sure that you can eat what you circle on your menu! Truly, what a wonderful place to stay! I wished I'd taken more photos of the Balatura, its patio, and the rooms. We loved every minute of it, and will return for sure!

We very much enjoyed our stay. The room was spacious and the beds comfy. the bathroom was very large with a hot shower and great water pressure. Breakfast was plentiful and the staff super friendly. They gave us good recommendations on activities and local restaurants. Literally a 10 minute walk through a pedestrian only area to get to old town made it easy to get to the sites but also made for a peaceful location. I highly recommend and will definitely stay there again when I return to Split.
