Honestly this trip was completely ruined by a few things. Number 1 - first day I had breakfast there were maggots in it. We told them we didn’t feel comfortable eating there anymore and they refused to refund us our money for the breakfast. They didn’t take it seriously, they didn’t care at all, they said ‘sorry hope you can enjoy breakfast tomorrow…’ that food had been obviously left there for ages. Long enough for a maggots to live there. Number 2 - the amphoras garden hotel is seperate from the main hotel. So you will have to walk through LOADS of doors and go through a service lift to get to the spa and then a further lift to get to reception. With a child that is just rubbish. Number 3 - the bartenders literally do not know how to make drinks. They couldn’t make espresso martini, Irish coffee or any coffees really (all were in the menu) this happened every day we asked for a coffee. One of them asked me to google how to make it, they are like £6 per coffee and I have to google it? The spa was the only decent thing about this place and they are run by a seperate place. The masseus was 5*…
Location - Beach front is accurate but be aware it is a solid 50 minue - 1 hour walk from Split itself and the taxi price varies from 77 Kuna (About £9) on one day to 460 Kuna (About £55) the next so even the taxi's that the hotel use are out to get your money Room - Room was pretty clean on arrival but then as the week went on we found hair not belonging to us on the bed more than once, a stain on the bathroom floor that was never cleaned and a real lottery of what towels you might get that week Restaurant - All the food we ate here was amazing but i shouldn't have to ask 3 times for the bill over 20 minutes when there was around 15 people in there one evening. Staff - Some staff were amazing, one waitress and one member of reception were amazing to us but unfortunatly the rest seem undertrained and rude. We phoned for room service one night three times with no answer, finally got through to be told they were no longer serving it and she hadn't had any calls which was a lie. I also settled the bill the morning we were to fly out an hour before we left and told the receptionist that i would be in the room and would hand the key back when we left. We arrived down to the airport transfer to be told by the driver the recpetionist had told him w had already left but thankfully he had stayed behind. Hotel is very much aimed at spa use and with the cost of the hotel it would have been nice to have had a free treatment added as they were expensive. All in all a nice hotel but the staff seem a little rusty and the websites need updating with newer open times for restaurant and check in.…
Firstly couldn’t find hotel. Their own website and address puts it in completely different location so had annoying time finding it. Then staff were unhelpful and failed to replace broken kettle and iron in room despite asking repeatedly. Breakfast ok but no dinner offered and restaurant poor in this respect. Swimming pool nice but crowded. 50 minutes walk from old town so quite far out.
We stayed for 6 nights in August 2022, in a sea view room. I would agree with other reviewers that it was more like partial sea view, but that didn't bother me overly much to be honest. Also, a few tips: - the 15 bus goes into town and runs frequently, for 22 Kuna each way. - if you want to go to the beach, you can get the towels from 1st floor spa area and the sunbeds are free over there - do not take taxis - they charged us twice of what Uber charged from the airport, and 6 times what Uber charged into town Here are Pros and Cons: Pro: - Room is nice and big, with good storage, seating and plenty of sockets and USBs - The shower is nice and big - Overall the hotel is clean - Breakfast has a large selection and good food overall - Really nice spa area, especially seeing as other than myself no one else seemed to bother going, so I had the steam room and turkish bath and sauna and relaxation room all to myself, each time I went :) - Great massage, very relaxing - large and comfy beds - staff very friendly, when not completely overrun at reception Cons: - Reception was extremely overwhelmed, so check in took quite a while for lots of people - the elevators are bizarre and don't seem to be set up to communicate with each other, so you press and wait for ages and then 2 or 3 come a the same time, and then stop at all the other pressed stops also - the bathroom door had a weird stopper there that was too big for it, so it hit us both in the arm or leg several times when opening it normally - the balcony was big enough for sun loungers, but there were none. It would be nice to have them - there are 2 bean coffee machines and that's way too few for the amount of guests. Huge queues for coffee at breakfast - the pool area is a bit small to accommodate all guests. We got up uncharacteristically early one day just to get a spot, seeing as the previous times 10am turned out to be too late already - and while most hotels do the whole towel on the floor for exchanges and hung up to keep thing, they don't seem to care about that. We always hung our towel up, but we always got new ones, every day. That is a lot of washing that could be avoided and I would recommend adopting a more green approach…
I paid more specifically to have a superior room with an ocean view. From the photo you can see that most of the view is not of the sea. All other hotels would class this as a partial view. Reception laughed at me saying it was a sea view as it can be seen from the balcony and nothing they would do. No effort to help me or to fix it. I was wrong in their opinion. They offered me one free meal which I refused as the room upgrade cost me several hundred pounds and I wanted that refunded at least, but again, they said nothing they can do. No hotel gold perks - not even the wine. I reported this on day of check in and this was not fixed. Certainly no upgrade and no feedback either from hotels.com Hotel advised me that a cab from the airport would be approximately 60 euros each way and they offered me a hotel pick up for 65. I took uber both ways and was only 25 euros one way and 28 back. On check in there was no info provided on the hotel services except for breakfast. Hotel gym is good and both pools are nice but are quite small for size of hotel. Breakfast is average but has a good selection and has a nice outdoor seating area. Breakfast staff are very friendly which is appreciated. The hotel is very clean and is a nice 55 min walk to the old town. Take note that all the restaurants I tried in the town did not take any card payments, cash only. My stay was ruined because I did not get what I paid for or recieve my perks. Disapponting.…
Hi Kristina! Unfortunately, you have a semi-unpleasant and not service-minded employee at the reception. A man aged 40-50 who should work with something other than people. After our long taxi journey of almost 3 hours, he replies that Booking does not know how many rooms you have available. So we had to find a new taxi and a new hotel. I will be happy to come in and show you who the person in question is because I currently live 25 minutes away from you. Best Regards Patrik Abrahamsson Restaurant and service coach Sweden
We stayed at this hotel for nearly two weeks: Let me point out the positives and negatives of this place: Positive: - Very good and helpful reception, nothing is a problem for them, no matter how busy they are always happy to assist! - Location of the hotel is great, just across the road from the beach. - Good spa and friendly staff. - Good spacious and clean rooms. Negative: - Breakfast is very average/ not a great choice /cheap quality of food - Hotel has not got its Beach and the pool area is not big enough for all the guests. - Guests are terrible / some wealthy ( new money) Eastern Europeans / Russian with no manner, they just do what they want to do, dress up with branded clothes and act like the whole place belongs to them. Well, do I want to go back there again? Probably yes but not at the peak season !…
Just returned from this hotel paid for four rooms, 3 of which only had one clean and one change of towels the fourth room had two cleans. We did complain when you call reception they hang up ! The pool area is small and poorly managed, there are dirty food plates and glasses just left around for hours, no one seems to clear up. We spoke to the manager he said say he would look into our complaint and get back to us, needless to say he didn’t ! We won’t be returning to this hotel
First of all we ordered room with sea view, but got building view. They changed it. Then we asked for baby bed 5 times and they give it to us just after mean talk. They gave baby towel instead of bedding. How this could be 4* hotel? Also look at our bathroom handle. 🥲
My wife and I stayed in Room 911 for two nights on June 30 and July 1, 2022. The room was a good size, with a small balcony overlooking the beach and the Adriatic, and a well-equipped bathroom with shower. The hotel is on the east side of Split and was not within walking distance of Diocletian's Palace or the Riva. However, those attractions are a short and inexpensive cab ride away. The hotel has excellent facilities, including indoor and outdoor infinity pools overlooking the Adriatic, a fully-equipped exercise room, several different types of sauna, and spa services. A great breakfast buffet was included in the price of our room. The front desk staff was professional and warm, and a pleasure to work with. Hotel Amphora was a welcome luxury resort-style place to recharge our batteries!…
