This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI

Amphora Hotel's guests have commended the clean rooms and the serene atmosphere enhanced by quality finishes like exceptional rain showers, yet some have encountered concerns with noise and maintenance in the pool area. Despite the praised views and beach proximity, there are calls for enhancements to elevate the four-star experience. Service issues are a recurrent theme, with reports of inattentive staff detracting from stays. Additionally, the value proposition is questioned, with mentions of overpriced services and variable room quality, including soundproofing and linens, leading to an inconsistent guest experience.

Amazing new hotel with the great design. Concierge was so helpful upon our arrival and we can say they went the extra mile for us! Staff at the dinner and breakfast were outstanding. So polite, warm and professional. Food was great as well! The room was spotless, clean and with a great view. We were at the 6th floor and would recommend it for anyone who loves height and nice sea views.

Unfortunately, we cannot recommend the hotel Spa. The hotel Spa looks great, there is an outdoor and indoor pool, sauna and Jacuzzi. Upon our arrival at the Spa, the girl was very pleasant but in not one moment she mentioned that there is gym at the spa. Relaxing music was all over and we were delighted with the ambience, we were certain we will stay at the hotel spa during our stay but that changed a bit later on. The reason for this was that in the spa, there were kids screaming, throwing slippers into the pool, jumping in the outdoor pool (and the pool is not so big). Some children were accompanied by parents and some were not. For some reason there is no family time at the Spa but even so, if you have children misbehaving, having parents ignoring their children jumping into the pool, it is not acceptable for one Spa receptionist to tell us how "she can't do anything to them even if she did warn them a few times on the previous days". The Spa and Wellness at the hotel is a RELAXING AREA for people who are using this facilities. It is NOT acceptable to have ashtrays with piles of cigarettes in the area of the indoor pool (or the outdoor pool) in my opinion. You can not have behaviour like it's a public pool. We had only 3 nights in this year to book and relax and we cannot say we had a completely relaxing time. When we commented on this to the main reception, we can't say that the lady on duty was too happy to hear this from us. It looked more like, "don't complain". The other thing that was disgusting was the jacuzzi. It was so dirty and when we mentioned, no one came to clean it. Appalling service. So if you don't mind having children screaming, jumping and throwing stuff at the pool, people smoking in the inside pool area, having a dirty jacuzzi, then it should be fine to stay. But if you want to relax, we recommend avoiding it. Hotel is built next to a busy road and the Spa is on the first floor. You can hear the cars and outside noise.

This is an expensive hotel ....well it was when i went there. In essence its not a bad hotel. But it could be so much better. The staff seemed a bit slow on the service agenda. So we ate in the restaurant one evening and they delivered a sachet of tomato sauce to go with my fries. Not a cheap restaurant either. The food in Split is dire anyway . In the five days I was there They didnt change the linen. The cleaner only cleaned the room in mid afternoon ie emptied the bins.
The staff were fine and pretty helpful but could never really deliver. I asked the domestic manager how to ring reception but no one seemed to know. Probably so none would disturb them . Wont go back. The air condition wasn't working as it was very hot outside too.....I was told

This was the last hotel of 4 we stayed in on a 2 week family holiday in Croatia having previously been to Dubrovnik, Korcula and Hvar and our least favourite. It’s about 4km outside of Split so without a car we used a bus that stopped outside of the hotel (10 euros one way for 5 of us) or an Uber at similar price. The area is clearly under construction so no real restaurants locally unless you want to walk a mile to another hotel. The hotel and rooms were clean, modern and beds comfortable but one of our rooms was at the back so the view was essentially of another building with no outside space and dark. Not impressed for a 5 star hotel. Our teenage daughters room was 2 floors up with a sea view which was nice but with a small extra camp bed designed for a child rather than a third teenager. We had to ask for an extra towel and duvet when we arrived for their room.
Food/drink- The breakfast buffet was fine but we had one evening meal there which was very expensive for what it was and the portions small. A portion of fries was 9 euros! Even the waiter was embarrassed at the cost. Definitely worth going out to eat. Drinks also expensive and although the rooftop bar was beautiful it is only open from 7 so is under utilised. Good for sunset views.
Pool- 2 pools (one inside one outside) plus child pool on the same floor as the spa. Nowhere near big enough to cater for the size of the hotel and number of guests staying. There are not enough sunbeds or space. To get a sunbed you had to be there by 10.30am at the latest. The hotel has missed a trick by not having a pool in the rooftop space which is far larger. Whoever designed the hotel didn’t think of the lack of space for guests or the outside pool size . Also despite a lot of young staff seemingly working at the pool bar they just did not regularly clear glasses and plates of food. They seemed to prefer at times to chat to each other. The hotel should be training them to regularly clear plates/glasses as it did not give a good impression.
Spa- my husband and I both had a massage and although good again and staff lovely it is overpriced.
With a few tweaks and proper training of staff this hotel could be so much better. Our main complaint is poor customer service and although it may improve in time with construction going on and the building of more restaurants etc I would choose to stay somewhere else nearer better amenities and restaurants.

Unfortunately - other than looking pretty from the outside it falls poorly short internally. We’ve been on a 12 day trip in Croatia, 4 different hotels and we are here spending our last few days at the Amphora in Split… and what a disappointment to end on. This place is by no means on the cheaper side of accommodation here in Split at £350 a night… we expected at least some degree of feeling like we’re paying customers. Its our biggest disappointment of the whole trip.
When we arrived around 1.15pm we were told check in was 2pm which was fine but first impressions are important and it’s probably the coldest welcome we’ve had to any hotel. The lady that then got us to our rooms later was very lovely so can not fault her at all.
Little perks that every other hotel offers - complimentary transfers from ferry ports or welcome drinks or voucher whilst we waited for the room were definitely absent here.
We have 2 rooms, same category but completely different views which was a shame and they couldn’t help apparently. The room itself though is lovely.
The pool was closed when we went up to it apparently for regular maintenance, so went to the beach.
The following day when we got to use the pools they were filthy, plasters, plastics, balls of hair every where very strange. So opted for the beach again.
We asked for milk for the tea in our room at reception, they told us to try the next morning, so I called in the morning more than 7 times finally got through and was told they’re too busy and to come and get some from the buffet.
On the day we wanted to get ready early and go out by 5pmish, the rooms and clean towels were still not done by 3 so we asked at reception and they said they would see, by 4 still nothing so asked again and we’re told they were too busy today with new arrivals rooms! We said but we’re here now and need towels to which we received rolling of the eyes and exasperated sighs - I was shocked.
And as for the food, I could not be more disgusted with the 90 kuna / £11.50 Caesar salad that is no bigger than the palm of my hand, I’ve fed a baby more lunch than this.
I tried to order a drink at the pool bar but the guy was squeezing oranges so I said ‘when you’re ready I’ll order a drink’ nothing… few minutes later I said can I please order, he acknowledged me and stilll nothing, finally another Barman came I asked him and he served me straight away apologising for his colleague.
Utterly disappointed with the customer service.
The 2 stars are for the room itself inside, and the very few employees that are trying to make up for their colleagues.

Our recent stay at the Amphora was great. The hotel seems very new, very good quality and layout. We are a couple with two grown up children and had two rooms on the 8th floor. The views are amazing and I suspect there would be a sea view in most rooms either to side or front. The rooms are spacious and well kept. Breakfast is a large buffet with pretty much all you could ask for. I think the hotel is suited to couples and is obviously also used for conferences etc. Whilst the location is just outside Split - it is only a short Uber/Bolt ride into the centre which was approx £4 each way. The beaches are clean - but very pebbly (not sand which some might prefer) and the sea shelves very quickly, but is lovely and clear. The hotel staff were all very polite and friendly and the spa and pools area is lovely. The indoor pool (which is designed like its an infinity to outdoor) is great for swimming and the outdoor pools for a cool off from the sun.

We were guest at Amphora's Garden aparthotel, located behind the Amphora hotel at Joy apartment with a big terrace with a view of the pool and garden and beautiful sideview of the beach and sea. The terrace is immersed in plants, lavanda and yasmin, and the air smells beautifully. the building is very interesting architecturally with plants tretching between few floors. The apartment was very big, with couch, and kitchen tabl and kitchenette. Everything was new and beautiful.
The entrance in the building is through Amphora hotel, which is convenient to go to the pool which is in Amphora hotel in bathrobe, but the passage is not so beautiful. It didnt feel luxurious as the rest of the hotel. I dont know if Amphora garden has its own main entrance. It would feel better to go to the main entrance.

The pool on the top of the Garden was closed, but one beautiful and big indoor pool with a panoramic view of the sea and smaller outdoor pool with terrace looking at the sea is located in Amphora hotel, 1st floor, and was included in the price. Also the spa was amazing and clean.

The breakfast was included in the price and was nice and in a nice restaurant with view of the sea at the main floor. Coffee included in the breakfast was not good, so we took espresso which is additionally charged around 20hrk. We didn't appreciate that espresso is charged additionally.

Room cleaning was offered as an additional charge of about 200kn, but towels were changed with no extra charge.

In front of the hotel there is a free parking space outside by the road. And the beach Znjan is just across the street in front of the main entrance. It is a nice and clean pebble beach.

The staff at Amphora are hands down the best we have ever encountered in our many collective years of traveling. Every single individual was friendly, professional, generous, and honestly a true pleasure with which to interact. This applies to the reception and bar staff as much as the cleaning and wellness center staff. They constantly went above and beyond and gave the hotel a welcoming, enjoyable atmosphere.

Hotel Amphora is a stylish, comfortable hotel in a great location right on the beach overlooking the sea. On it's own, it would be a nice place to stay. But with the staff members, it is an extraordinary experience and we can't wait for the chance to go back and stay again!

We arrived late as our flight was delayed, the staff member we met was bordering on rude, did not want to deal with us checking in as late as it was (12:45am) and we felt we did not want to be there, this began our stay on a somewhat poor note.
Breakfast is decent, plenty of choice each morning, we ate lunch twice at the pool and this was also good.
Staff in the spa were always pleasant and helpful, bar pool staff were not, they seemed to be short staffed and again unhelpful. Food was delivered by way of walking around the pool area asking each person if they had ordered food. (The sun does not hit the pool all day just to note)
Our main issue with this stay was however housekeeping, we returned after a day trip to no towels as we had placed our dirty towels in the shower to be replaced, this occurred twice where we had to ring reception for towels. The bedsheets were not changed and on the fifth day we stripped the bed so our sheets would be changed. I do not believe they need to be changed each day however most hotels I have stayed in would be every second day.
There were various bugs in the bathroom, we had a dead bug one morning which was still there on our return.
The hotel falls short of four stars in many ways and I was disappointed as I had high hopes before our stay, I will be staying closer to the town next time I stay and saving money for a hotel that is hopefully worth the stars they are advertised as

Hotel design is nice and modern but checkin took time, staff was busy, got our room some time after 14:00. Only information we got from reception was the breakfast hours, no introduction to the hotel, nothing about how to get to Split centre. Hotel is located further away from centre, we walked about 50 minutes to old town area, but it's not always a nice promenade, sometimes walking through parking areas, going up stairs, etc (adding some pictures of the promenade). There are public beaches nearby, some beaches offer sun loungers for extra cost and beaches get crowdy. Parking under the hotel is convenient, although you need to register the parking ticket every time you want to drive out (wasn't possible to use room card for parking) and costs 150 kuna a day. Near the hotel there are beach parking areas, which I think were for free but less convenient. Breakfast was okay, but coffee was poor (tasted like dissolved coffe). One evening we tried dinner in hotel restaurant. We got served uncleaned scallops, which can poison people, they removed it from the bill but didn't try to remedy it in any other way. Our room was 222 on 2nd floor above the restaurant. On first night there was a wedding party in the restaurant with noise throughout the night so we couldn't sleep. On second night there was a party on the roof, but that fortunately didn't reach our room. It's pity that hotel guests don't get free access to these roof events, because it limits the usage of facilities for your paying guests. Ventilation and air conditioning was quite noisy so we left them off for the night. Overall the feeling was that the building itself was modern and still new but staff and hospitality was missing. More options should be provided how to move between city centre and the hotel.

I paid more specifically to have a superior room with an ocean view. From the photo you can see that most of the view is not of the sea. All other hotels would class this as a partial view. Reception laughed at me saying it was a sea view as it can be seen from the balcony and nothing they would do. No effort to help me or to fix it. I was wrong in their opinion. They offered me one free meal which I refused as the room upgrade cost me several hundred pounds and I wanted that refunded at least, but again, they said nothing they can do. No hotel gold perks - not even the wine. I reported this on day of check in and this was not fixed. Certainly no upgrade and no feedback either from hotels.com Hotel advised me that a cab from the airport would be approximately 60 euros each way and they offered me a hotel pick up for 65. I took uber both ways and was only 25 euros one way and 28 back. On check in there was no info provided on the hotel services except for breakfast. Hotel gym is good and both pools are nice but are quite small for size of hotel. Breakfast is average but has a good selection and has a nice outdoor seating area. Breakfast staff are very friendly which is appreciated. The hotel is very clean and is a nice 55 min walk to the old town. Take note that all the restaurants I tried in the town did not take any card payments, cash only. My stay was ruined because I did not get what I paid for or recieve my perks. Disapponting.
