My husband and I spent 5 nights here for our anniversary and loved it! The room was quite nice, nice spacious bath room with a soaking tub, lovely breakfast and very friendly staff. They were extremely helpful with dinner reservations. Highly recommend. Andy is a hoot and will help you with most everything. English is spoken everywhere. This hotel is perfectly situated to walk to restaurants and shops all around the old town of Split.

What a disappointing hotel stay in Split. This relatively expensive hotel was such a  disappointment.  There was a smell of sewage in the bedroom.  We couldn't open windows as they open on to a busy square. The electronics on the safe were broken. After 30 minutes, several unanswered calls to Reception and 3 failed attempts to fix the safe the maintenance man suggested leaving us the key of the safe and bypassing the electronics. Then we discovered the safe was just sitting on a shelf in the wardrobe, not bolted to the wall, easy to remove!!! This hotel is advertised by Booking.com as having a sun terrace. It actually does have one but what they don't tell you is that it is only available to suite users. It is listed among "Hotel Facilities " and excluded in your booking confirmation. How devious is that? We had the unfortunate experience of expressing our disappointment with a lady callled Marie at reception. Her manner was shocking. She constantly interrupted and raised her voice. When I asked to speak to the manager she retorted "I am the manager". She admitted that they dont bolt the safes in the rooms to the walls "they break down every 30 days.....terrible Chinese technology ". We wanted some cold milk for breakfast tea in the morning,  there was no milk of any kind on the room tray. We phoned "Reception" and "Service" 3 times each with no reply.  Out of interest we phoned "Emergency" and got an automated response " This number is not recognised,  please check the number and dial again" what a joke! We have stayed in 4 & 5 star hotels all over the world and never had this type of experience.  Avoid it like the plague!

Response from Judita Palace Heritage Hotel, Owner at Judita Palace Heritage Hotel
Responded 1 week ago
Dear Mr. Gary Duffy, Thank You for taking your time to publish yet one more review regarding Your stay with us. By no means we want to sound apologetic tough we are truly sorry that all our attempts to make your stay pleasant were doomed to failure. After realizing that the Superior Room you have reserved does not have a balcony, you behaved visibly stressed and dissatisfied. We understand that sometimes guests do not comprehend the details of their reservation tough we try to simplify it as much as we can, we doubt this was the case with you as you explained later that you get upgrade every time you complain. The reservation platform you used to make a reservation declined your complaints as incorrect and groundless. You were explained in thorough and polite manner that the room you reserved does not have a balcony or a terrace which was also stated on your reservation confirmation. Receptions kindly asked you to show her your reservation confirmation so that she could see where the misunderstanding arose on your part. However, you refused to present it and continued to behave in an improper manner upsetting the other hotel guests. For your behavior during Judita Palace you were reported for Guest misconduct and are prohibited from staying with us in the future. You were offered different solutions: to cancel the reservation in accordance with cancelation policy or to upgrade from room category you initially booked to room with balcony. Both options were declined and you insisted on free upgrade solely based on your loudly expressed dissatisfaction and experiences that you had anytime you submitted such complaints during your previous travels at different hotels. We understand that this modus operandi is something that has resulted in ways you desired and has been effective in the past. Anyhow, this is not how we do things here. Judita Palace always thrives to deliver beyond what is agreed keeping in mind all its guests but never because of intimidation. After your continuous pressure failed to ensure you free upgrade, you were escorted to your room from which you reported numerous incorrect errors such as bad smell, noise from the square, safe that failed to provide you sense of security, and many others. Bad reviews on different platforms surely established you a position of strong negotiator when it comes to situation where you require more than you are willing to compensate for. We encourage you to explore your possibilities more systematic next time. Judita Palace Hotel is proud of its staff and our goal is to make every guest's stay a wonderful experience. Regardless of all our efforts, there are people that simply cannot be pleased. Best regards, Judita Palace Management

I looked at dozens of hotels in Split before I chose Judita Palace. And I definitely made the right decision. The location was perfect. Just steps away from Diocletian’s palace. The old city is a no car zone. So the hotel asked me to let them know how we were arriving and when. They sent Chris and Andrija to collect us and our luggage. They wouldn’t let us lift a thing. So helpful. Check in was easy. Anna was delightful and everyone was very friendly. The rooms are amazing! Probably the nicest and biggest and most comfortable I’ve stayed in in Europe. Beautiful big rooms and bathrooms. Nice amenities. Comfortable big bed. The breakfast was hearty and delicious! Made to order hot breakfast. But what made the stay was the staff! The friendliest ever. They helped us with travel arrangements. Booked a driver, booked ferry tickets, dinner reservations, suggestions, etc. And they were so fun and friendly. If they saw us playing cards in the lounge the next thing we knew there would be a bucket of ice and some glasses. Great service. I would definitely stay here again!!

One of the best hotel experiences I've ever had! The staff is 2nd to none. Andria, Anna and Chris were top notch! They are eager to help or make recommendations. Every one they made was spot on. They made reservations for us. I think they always go above and beyond. If I could give them 10 stars I would. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone. The location was great for what we wanted to do. I would absolutely stay here again!

We chose this hotel as the reviews made it sound special, which it was. The location was perfect although finding it wasn't easy and as we hired a car for the duration of our Dalmatian Coast Trip we had to park a short walk away.. The facilities were high quality and the staff were just superb. The A la Carte Breakfast was excellent, probably the best Poached Eggs I have ever had.

What a great find! This hotel is centrally located within the old city walls of ancient Split making it convenient to access all the local attractions. Walk in one direction and you’ll find yourself walking along the Adriatic Sea. Walk in another direction and find yourself at the footsteps of the Diocletian Palace. Since the city walls are pedestrian access only, contact the hotel for parking suggestions or simply find the newest parking lot and walk towards the hotel. This hotel offers 19 rooms and is the perfect boutique hotel. Our room was exquisite, spacious and clean. Each room is named after a famous Croatian, we stayed in Ivan Mestrovic’s room. The breakfast was wonderful and staff were courteous and knowledgeable. Not only were the rooms delightful, but the hotel decor was beautiful as it offered a step back in time to the renaissance period. Crystal chandeliers, mosaic vases and enchanting renaissance curtains. Much love to Andrea who was gracious enough to spend some time with us sharing all the local attractions Split has to offer. We look at him as a historian as he shared the history of the city and recommendations of bars and restaurants where tourists flock to and where the locals like to drink. Ask if we’d recommend this hotel and my answer is yes! Would we stay here again…yes!

Stayed here for 3 nights. Everything was great, the staff, the location, the room. Breakfast was lovely with a wide range of fruit, breads, cereals, juices, tea coffee etc. Eggs are made to order nothing is too much trouble. The hotel is right in the middle of the old town and rooms are very quiet. I can't think of anything they could improve on - everything is perfect. Can't wait to come back again in the future.

We stayed here for two nights to start off our Croatia and Bosnia trip. The hotel was great but it was made even better by the amazing people that worked there. The men at the front desk were funny, sarcastic and made the whole hotel experience fun. They were extremely helpful and welcoming. We stayed in the two story family suite, it was incredible. Our room overlooked the main square and was more than big enough for our family of four. I highly recommend staying here, it was the perfect hotel for our trip.
