The apartment has everything you need, from a washing machine to pots and kettles for making food. The AC was a life saver for us Finns, for the temperatures were closer to 40 mid day... Also the plants outside were beautiful!
Huge thank you for Michelle for making our stay perfect :)
There are three apartments, two in one area and another (pic is of a yellow bed) in the old city centre.
We chose the king bed apartment which is next to the studio apartment and they are NOT in the old city centre and is NOT the yellow bed pic. However, they are very convenient to the ferry, train and bus station, and it's not far to walk to reach the old centre (5 mins walk). They are also very quiet and indeed have a gate and a little courtyard.
But we were a little disappointed because, apart from the bathroom, the king-bed apartment is decorated in a very traditional old-fashioned way, with heavy dark furniture. While the apartment is large, the bedroom is very small - we had to move the bed away from the wall so my husband could get out which meant we couldn't open the door very far! There were no working bedside lights and you had to walk through an internal lobby and across the sitting room to reach the loo. Overall we would say the king-bed apartment would be good value if you needed the kitchen and the sitting+dining area, but if you're just staying one of two nights then you probably just want an ensuite bedroom and you will get a much more attractive apartment at a better price in the old city centre if you look elsewhere.
The yellow bed in the pic is in the apartment in the old city centre, which does appear to be modernised, so that may be better value. We didn't go there so we don't know.
Hope that helps!
Michelle was extremely prompt with emails and confirmations which made the whole pre-holiday experience an easy and seamless process.
The apartment location is quite outstanding. Everything is virtually outside your door - The Palace ruins which are very impressive and are within a 30 metre walk from your gated-door, quality cafes, shopping, the Green Market, The Riva and a 5 minute walk to the port and bus stations - this apartment location has it all. Inside, the fully-equipped apartment has everything you could possibly require, including a quality kitchen, stylish bedroom and lounge area, reverse cycle aircon, a washing machine, free wifi, gourmet coffee and tea sachets - a lot of thought and attention to detail has been given to ensure that every traveller's needs are more than met.
Michelle is the most perfect host, super friendly, extremely helpful and has some great advice for restaurants and places to visit. The meet and greet at the bus station takes the hassle out of trying to find it on your own - thanks!!
We LOVED our stay, from the first moment we climbed the stairs, opened the door and realised that we were going to stay in the apartment that Michelle and her husband Loren had so proudly renovated and decorated with a lot of passion and love. Thanks Michelle & Loren, you have enhanced our wonderful memories of Split and we cannot wait to return.
Highly recommend this wonderful apartment, perfect location and Croatian hospitality at it's finest.
She walked us to the apartment which was located in a small alley within the palace walls and gave us lots of useful recommendations. Everywhere was in walking distance which was a trade off for the lack of outside space.
It was beautifully decorated and furnished. Everything we needed had been thought of from clothes pegs, to butter, to toiletries and even a small washing machine.
The only potential concerns would be the size of the bathroom and steep entry stairs if you are larger sized or have mobility problems.
My apartment was in the Walls on a small street. Overall it was pretty quiet which could be a problem in other places since there is alot of noise. I definitely recommend stayting in the Walls. It is really fun. The location was right by the market and many grocery stores and bakeries. There is a 24 hour bakery 5 minutes away in case you needed it!
Another tip is when you arrive by air - go outside and there are Croatia Air buses lined up. They fill up and go to the train station. I cost under $10 and saves a ton of money from taking the taxi. You are dropped off at the main bus station right by the ferries so you could continue onto a ferry if you wanted.
I stayed in Split 3 days and 4 nights. I think this was a bit too long. I would say 2 days is what you need to see Split. I supplemented my time going on a day trip to Krka National Park and took the bus to Trogir (worth the trip).
Overall, Emperor's Suites is a nice place that is VERY clean, safe, and in a good location.
Thank you!
Overall our stay there was excellent and Michelle was a great help. She told us about a couple nice local restaurants and we stopped by one of them twice it was so good.
"If you come on a taxi, they won't be able to drop you off infront of the apartment, for it is in an alley. But the walking distance was not too bad, atleast not for us."Read full review
