While I didn't stay at this hotel, I did participate in a private cooking class on Hotel Slavija's rooftop terrace and I would highly recommend!! All of the staff were incredibly friendly and hospitable, the food was delicious, and the views were amazing. Such a great way to experience (and taste) Split at its best!

Croatia is a long distance and multiple flights from the Pacific coast of the US but this hotel built into the remains of Diocletian's Palace was absolutely magical. Okay, my room was kind of wall-to-wall double bed but I had a clean modern bathroom and window overlooking the inner palace. Okay, one night of the threeit was a bit noisy...

Great location in historic Old Town. Spoiled by modern conversion and really small claustrophobic rooms. Like a prison cell. No character, bare walls. Bed was comfortable but that was all there was to the room. A bed and reasonable bathroom/shower. No welcome bottle of water in room. Expensive option. Breakfast ok. Staff unfriendly

Recently spent two nights at this lovely boutique hotel in Split. Outstanding, thoughtful staff who made our stay such a great experience. Help with so many things including transport, great restaurant recommendations, a short explanation of the history of the palace in which the hotel is located to mention just a few. Terrific room with a balcony overlooking the historic...

This hotel was built on the site of Diocletian's Palace. There is thankfully an elevator. Expect very small rooms and baths. Typical rooms have no bathtubs. The bed was very hard and "short" even for a short person like me. Tall people would not be comfortable in their beds. Most memorable was the "pillow" which was very flat. I rolled...

Hotel Slavija is ideally located just inside the palace walls, steps from the southern gate and the Riva. I arrived at 7:30am after taking an overnight ferry and was greeted warmly by the friendly staff. To my surprise my room, a single on the third floor, was ready. Since it faced the back of the hotel, it was extremely quiet....

This is a brilliant small Boutique hotel in the dead center of the Diocletian Palace in Split. The rooms are comfortable and very nicely decorated that complement the ancient surrounding of the city! Highly recommended!

Hotel is modern and clean, centrally located, and rooms are well appointed. Split can get lively over the weekend and the hotel is in the midst of the action, so if you decide to stay in it won't be a quiet night as there doesn't seem to be soundproofing (fair enough since the building has loads of history and ambiance)....

In the old part of Split you will find this modern nice clean hotel. It's close to the seaside promenade and restaurants and bars. The staff is very friendly and serviceminded. We got upgraded to a larger room with terrace. If you want the terrace, ask for room 102. Wifi included. It's somwhat tricky to find in all the small...

I like this hotel a lot ! It is located in the old town of split. It's the oldest hotel in the town since 1900 and it is built over a Roman private bath. The room is clean and have window with view over the small streets of the old town. The staff very helpful and polite. I recommend it...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel Slavija is type of a heritage hotel due to its location, history and protection by Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia and UNESCO. The Diocletian's Palace was built in the middle of the 3rd century AD, while the Hotel Slavija was built inside its walls, above the Emperor's western baths. Therefore, it can be concluded that the building of the hotel influenced the protection of the Baths from the devastation. With time the building of the hotel expanded, and from the Baroque palace it became today's Hotel Slavija. Hotel Slavija is under the protection of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia, and in part is protected by the UNESCO. The location in the very center of the town makes Hotel Slavija an ideal choice for a stay in Split, surrounded by all relevant historical buildings of the city of Split, including the Temple of Jupiter, the St. Duje Cathedral, the Milesi palace... It is ideal place for both business and pleasure travelers because of its location. Hotel is situated in the very center of the city and is but a few minutes walk from all the major attractions as well as from the main bus terminal, airport shuttle terminal, railway station and ferry. The hotel has 25 rooms and each room is air conditioned, with private bath, hair dryer, satellite TV, Internet connection and direct dial telephone. Some of the rooms are with terraces and Hotel is especially proud to present them because, terraces are rarity in the old part of Split. In the lobby of the hotel is Internet Hot spot, which is free for hotel guests. We also provide faxing, copying, printing and scanning, as well as laundry service. ... more   less
