Kamara Dubrovnik (former Hotel R) is the perfect place to stay while on holidays in Dubrovnik. Translating to "room" in an ancient Dubrovnik dialect, you can enjoy a stunning sea view from your own private balcony in most rooms. Completely renovated in 2015 with a with a new modern contemporary design, rooms at Kamara are fitted with new furniture and fresh, inspiring decor. Hotel Kamara is just a short, sea-side and relaxing 20 minute walk to Dubrovnik Old Town. Sparkling beach, only a few minutes walk from the hotel, is a perfect place to truly enjoy your holiday taking in the scenery and fresh air. Enjoy the personal treatment from our friendly staff, and indulge in a buffet breakfast.
My boyfriend and I stayed in Kamara for 4 nights in August and it was absolutely perfect. Incredible location, 15-20 minute downhill walk to the city walls of dubrovnik. The 4 bus is just outside too if you’re feeling lazy too, only a euro or two. The room was SPOTLESS, modern, the air conditioning worked like a charm and it was very quiet and in a lovely area. Highly recommend going to Bellevue beach, literally only 5-7 minute walk from Kamara and is honestly the nicest beach I’ve ever been to in my life. Thank you so much to the lovely Nina who greeted us and recommended some great places to go during our time in Dubrovnik. Would definitely stay there again. Stayed in room S3!

Having spent 2 nights within the Old Town walls of Dubrovnik, it was nice to move farther west in order to access Sunset Beach, while allowing easy access back to Old Town on a beautiful cliffside 20 minute walk. (Tip: Getting further from old town is less touristy, thus restaurants and shops are much more affordable). The hotel from the outside is unassuming and very private. The check-in process after-hours was well communicated and easy. The room was clean, well-appointed, and had everything necessary. The balcony has a nice size and a beautiful sea view-great place to relax, catch some sun, and read a book. I was able to meet with the host Nina my 2nd day- she is very friendly, accommodating, and cares very much about her guests' experience. She made great recommendations for my last day in Dubrovnik, which were things I didn't know about as a foreigner. If you are flying out of Dubrovnik Airport, her best recommendation to me was to spend some time in the city of Cavtat, a small town 10 minutes outside of the airport. Because there is only one road to the airport from Dubrovnik, traffic can be unpredictable. Leaving a bit earlier and spending time in Cavtat was a great recommendation!!…

We stayed 5 nights at Kamara, and we had mixed thought about it. The room was spacious and clean at arrival, the lady in reception was helpful and it had a nice balcony. The breakfast was good, and served at the hotel next door. Although the room was clean on arrival, cleaning was not their highest priority. On day 4 the room had yet to be cleaned, we approached the reception, who told us that they do not clean rooms until day 5. However after asking they did send someone at day 4. The light in the bathroom did not work the first three days, and it took them more than two days to fix it. Furthermore, on the website it said that they had storage room for luggage if you needed, however this was not the case. Our overall impression of the hotel is mixed, however the negatives outweighs the positive, and we would therefore not visit again.…

Shock when taxi dropped us off to find dirty stairway to door of hotel which is extremely difficult to find from the street. No obvious signage. Room so sparsely furnished and the only positive is the balcony with a small table & chairs which we used as our only seating, fortunately we had good weather. This really isn't a "hotel" as if you want breakfast it is available at the hotel next door. The Reception is only manned from approximately 9am to 6pm and some mornings we had to wait after that time which was so inconvenient.

We spent 4 nights here (booked a triple/superior room) & felt well rested. Really warm welcome from the lady on reception, she was so efficient & great with advice for places to eat/see/map directions etc. Explained access codes (and they always worked) Communal areas; foyer & stairs were always clean & tidy. Our room was 1 of 3 on the top floor- a decent size balcony, 2 comfy chairs & a table fitted on it with ease. The awning was not in place though, perhaps under repair as all other balconies had one. Facilities wise the bedroom was very spacious, full black out curtains, a large and comfortable double bed with enough pillows & beside lighting/tv/kettle etc. Aircon was welcome & worked well & quietly. One decent sized wardrobe (more coat hangers would be good, especially if 3 people were to be staying there). The third bed was a converted sofa, looked comfortable but we did not use it so can't properly say. The fridge didn't appear overly cold, but everything we placed in it stayed fresh & cold. Because the nearest plug socket was used for the fridge, the hospitality kettle etc on the table above we just moved its tray to a bedside table & unplugged one bedside light. Decent sized mugs were a winner; no there was no breakfast tea, though there was green tea & some coffee sachets. We normally bring stuff like that when we travel anyhow so didn't feel that a big issue. The bed was comfortable, with 2 pillows each & spotless crisp white bedding. The bathroom worked perfectly well - a corner shower, plenty hot water and decent big sink and mirror. Hairdryer in drawer below. We didn't chose the breakfast inclusive option, preferring to walk to town to try different places.(liked Dubravka1836- just Outside the Pile gate) The walk to the old city is about 15 minutes downhill - breath-taking views. There are frequent buses but we never did use them. Walking uphill with a gelato always won out! You can also walk the other direction towards Babin Kuk on Lapad - we did that one day - the whole Babin Kuk coastline on that peninsula with frequent stops for "refreshments". Most establishments on the actual cliffs. Just beautiful. - and notably less pricy than the old town! One major recommendation - have dinner next door at the Bosnian restaurant Taj Mahal.(it's within the Hotel Lero) Wonderful food. I feel it important to point out, we didn't book this room based on it having fancy décor - if you want a resort hotel, or boutique city pad look elsewhere and be prepared to pay accordingly in a very popular (and rather expensive) city. We wanted somewhere convenient, which was comfortable and safe. We got all of that, plus nice customer service & a decent amount of space. We would stay again without hesitation.…

We have mixed thoughts about our stay at Kamara in Dubrovnik. As others have said, it is in a quiet location away from the busy old city area (we stayed during the frantic summer period), about a 15-minute (mainly downhill) walk to the old city gates, or the #4 local bus (15 kuna on the bus, or 13 kuna if you purchase at a newsstand) stops almost outside so this is very convenient.. We did arrive during their reception opening hours which are limited - they are at pains to highlight that they are a guesthouse rather than a hotel - and we did take their offered transfer (30 euro cash paid directly to the hotel) from the airport which was very efficient. The welcome was excellent - the receptionist was very helpful in pointing out local highlights on the map. The room is quite spacious and clean with mainly IKEA furniture (literally, the labels are still attached); there are no toiletries provided except some lavender shampoo and a pump handwash - no soap for the shower. The tiny fridge didn't seem cold and you have to crawl under the table to change plugs for the TV, fridge and kettle. There were no coffee (3-in-1) sachets as the "the supplier hadn't delivered them" but the receptionist kindly gave us a couple from her own stock, and the tea sachets supplied were green tea. We booked a sea view room - there was a sea view but it was in the distance, so don't mistake this for "seafront" as it is situated a few hundred metres from the sea. The included breakfast is next door at Hotel Leno and is quite decent; however, the service was poor and there are tour groups staying at this hotel so avoid times they are having breakfast as it is chaotic. On check-out (which is 11:00), we needed to store our luggage (which they offered) until an afternoon transfer but there was no-one at reception at this time on a Sunday morning and we didn't want to leave our luggage unattended (despite reasonable security) in the tiny reception area, so this was a bit awkward - we eventually stayed in the room until a staff member arrived at 11:30am. Overall, this accommodation was satisfactory - our biggest concern was the value, we thought it was very expensive (even allowing for summer seasonal pricing) for what you receive - we paid almost 175 euro for one night. We are not saying 'don't stay here' as it ticked many boxes for us - we just want to point out our experience with this guesthouse for further consideration.…

Helpful and friendly staff! We had a big room with the ocean view and we were so happy with that room. The breakfast buffet in the hotel next door is really good! Nice and clean rooms. Would definitely stay here again.

So the hotel is in quotes because this isn't your typical hotel. There are no employees around the hotel 24/7. They also don't have a restaurant. Don't let that dissuade you. The room we had was so large with a balcony looking towards the street. To get to the hotel is a flight of stairs up (looks like one is walking up to an apartment complex or 2nd floor of a small shopping center. Breakfast is included at the large full-service hotel right next door, which was a great buffet with a large selection. The location is a 15-minute walk to the old city or a shorter bus ride. The bus stops very nearby. The room was large, modern, clean and comfortable. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

We stayed at Kamara Dubrovnik for 2 nights. Staff was very kind and friendly. Breakfast was served at Hotel Lero which was also a 5 star rated! The location is great and calm and there is also an option to use the bus which was very convenient (only 4 stops) to the Pile gate. Rooms were nice and tidy! I highly recommend this place to everyone.

Hotellista sai lentokenttäkuljetuksen mennen tullen hintaan 30e per suunta joka on paljon edullisempi kuin taksi. Aivan ihana vastaanotto hotellilla, tunsimme heti itsemme tervetulleeksi. Huoneessa pieni haju. Sänky oli aivan mahtava. Tämän hotellin pitäisi olla ehdottomasti 4* hotelli. Quite a wonderful reception at the hotel we felt welcome immediately. The official helped a what his much more work picture surely would have belonged, he gave the map and the bus and the popular restaurants advised in the connections. The breakfast was in a next hotel and it was excellent, there a sparkling wine was served. The room was comfortable, peaceful and quiet. Own air source heat pump and tidy bathroom. In our room it was not possible to hang wet towels to dry because there was no balcony. In room small smell. The bed was quite powerful. This hotel should be absolutely 4* hotel.…
