Pros: Rooms 45 and 47 had balconies, were clean and unscented. They changed the bedding every 3 days. The hotel had a good shower, helpful staff (Inez), location (40 min walk to old Town) and breakfast (order from menu, excellent cappuccinos). Room 47 had a beautiful view of the sea. Cons: Poor wifi - we could get email on our phone but not the ipad.
We stayed at the Berkeley Hotel and Spa for one night because we had missed flight connections due to a worldwide outage with the carrier, to board a cruise ship which started out from Barcelona. We flew instead to Dubrovnik in order to meet our ship in Port there. The hotel is small but very clean, quiet and comfortable. The room and bathroom were fitted with modern amenities. The hotel does have an elevator which was good as we stayed on the second floor and didn't have to carry luggage upstairs. Our room also had a balcony that faced the harbor and Port. It's very pretty. Ines at the desk spoke perfect English. She was very kind and helpful. She contacted our taxi to pick us up from the airport as we were landing earlier than expected and the taxi was at the door waiting for us at the airport when we arrived in Dubrovnik. Ines also provided us with an adapter as we had forgotten to bring one with us from Canada. The beds were twins pushed together and they were very comfortable. We were so tired we probably wouldn't have noticed otherwise as we slept for 12 hours. Outside our room in the hallway was a picture window and we could see our cruise ship in Port, walking distance from the hotel. It was perfect! The restaurant only does breakfast, included in the price of the hotel. There is buffet style continental with fruit, juice, assorted breads, cheeses and cold meats or you can order a cooked breakfast and coffee or tea. It was very good and we had no complaints in fact just the opposite. We would stay here again and we would recommend this hotel. Thank You Ines for all your help and for a comfortable stay! …
Berkeley Hotel & Spa is truly a very special place. The hotel is situated less than a 5 minute walk from the ferry port. The bus ride to Old Town is about 10 minutes. The hotel can arrange transportation from the airport for an additional charge payable to the hotel, NOT the driver. I emphasize this because we paid the driver directly who once she realized that what we had given her was much more than a tip, promptly (within 10 minutes) called and retuned the cost less the tip to me. We stayed 5 nights in room 33 which was a Double Room with a Balcony and Sea View. The room was large even by US standards, and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel and the rooms were clean and well maintained. I would describe the hotel as a boutique hotel with an intimate feel where the staff gets to know you by name and remember and cater to your specific needs, like how you like your toast, coffee, or bacon. The breakfast is a combination of buffet and order service. Some items such as fruits, cereals, deli meats, cheese, and juices are served buffet style. Other items such as coffee, tea, cooked meats, and eggs are made to order. The food was delicious and plentiful. What sets this hotel apart is superior service. Most of the staff here is not set in defined roles. If you go to the lobby and ask for ice, the person behind the desk does not say “I am the desk person not the kitchen staff”, they get the ice for you. The person you see at breakfast may later be one of the people refreshing the rooms. What this means for you as the guest is that the buck is never passed. No matter who you ask for something, you are never told you have to wait because what you want is not in their job description. The staff is extremely friendly. We felt like we were guest at one of our relatives’ house. It was truly service with a smile, not out of obligation, but done with a genuine warmth that you could feel and sense. I could go on and on, but suffice it to say, if you are in Dubrovnik, this is where you want to stay. Tip: When heading to Old Town, walk the extra 3 minutes (5 minutes total) to the bus stop in front of the ferry port, the Bus to Old Town on the same street as the hotel does not run as frequently as the one by the ferry port. (Bus #1 or #3 direction Pile Gate). …
Stayed here for one night after finishing our cruise. Were charged the same price as a 5* hotel we had used the previous week. No comparison. This hotel was very basic. Cheap furniture and furnishings nothing luxurious about it at all. Breakfast was very basic would have liked some pastries which were brought out just as we were leaving. Very noisy building works across the road that started at 7.30am on a Saturday morning. Nice pool but colder than swimming in the sea!!
Great location outside Old Town Dubrovnik being a 5 minute Uber ride (6 euros) or 30 minute walk. Hotel staff incredibly friendly and helpful! They even called multiple restaurants to help us make reservations during our stay. Free parking in the parking garage attached to the hotel. Room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was phenomenal and included eggs, bacon, fruit, yogurt, meats, cheese, juices, and coffee. Highly recommend staying here!
A very relaxing and lovely venue, oozing calm. Where a room with a sea view was expected and the disappointment experienced by some visitors ....I have to say that it is all outside the control of owners of this lovely family run Hotel and it's amazing 1st Class staff. This is the situation in all cities and modernisation in towns, local Government policy, all totally unavoidable and definitely not the fault of the Hotel, it's owners and staff, therefore, in my opinion, an unfair criticism. The owners have put so much into this Hotel. Don't let those negative comments from delaying you from visiting The Berkeley Hotel very soon. The Hotel is priced very well for its location and definitely not "basic" especially with the complimentary "Rituals" toiletries and decor among the many positives. The rooms, especially ours, were very comfortable, refurbished beautifully, well appointed and more importantly, all areas of the Hotel maintained to high housekeeping standards. Breakfast was plentiful and enjoyable with a personal and jovial service. The Staff at Reception, breakfast and housekeeping are all excellent, professional and really dedicated, working effectively as a great Team. The local area by the Gruz Port is a stone throw, a short walk and distance away, the Marina was further away, all convenient, an area with a buzz and some good restaurants plus great for meeting points for many tours too. There is also a calm here, away from the Old Town, a ten minute ride away. It is so convenient and lovely to visit the Old Town and other areas, but great to return each night back to the always warm welcome by the amazing Staff at The Berkeley..... Ines.... Anje...Kasim... Maria.. Tomo.....Mirijana...again, all the Marias.... Sanja....😉.....to name a few - huge and sincere thanks to all for making our stay at The Berkeley so wonderful, personal and memorable. Hoping to return one day very soon.🙏🏼🌹👍🏼…
I would not say this was a 4 star hotel but more like a 3 star. I was really disappointed that there was major construction going on opposite the hotel which meant the balcony and pool area were really noisy. We booked a sea view room but we were facing a construction site. The room was spacious and very clean but the bathroom was a little dated, no drinks were in the fridge or mini bar. Breakfast was basic however it was nice that you could order your eggs to be freshly cooked to order. The location was ok, you need to take a bus or Uber into the old town it’s a little too far to walk in the heat. The pool was very basic and not very relaxing with all the construction work. I’m not sure how this is a spa hotel - we weren’t provided with any spa menus, there just seemed to be a hotel room renovated into a beauty room. An ok base for a few days but very overpriced and basic.…
What a gem! Near the port but 5 mins to main street and bus station and marina, restaurants etc. From a couple emails before arriving to consistently superb service from the staff, I literally cannot fault it. Upgraded to a superior room with sea view and balcony. Huge with fridge, tv, kettle, hairdryer and high quality Rituals toiletry products. The view was outstanding!! Small pool but so lovely with honesty bar! 24/7 bar service inside hotel too. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and a great selection of buffet items too. Shout out to Tomas who felt like a friend by time I left and Karim too. All the staff were superb though and went beyond to help. A tour was cancelled at less than 24 hours notice to Montenegro and Tomas took charge and arranged an alternative. Literally nothing was a problem. Had the best time in Dubrovnik! Easy public transport to Cavtat & Lapad & Old Town to Lokrum Island. If I’ve any recommendations it would be a shower room. I checked out at 11am and cases placed into storage cupboard but meant most of day hanging around at pool and actually used the pool shower to get washed before heading to airport. The small kitchen at honesty bar also needs a good clean. Clothes sat in sink for a couple of days at least. I didnt personally use the beauty spa but it looked nice and was busy so perhaps book in advance if intending to use. Great hotel for a few nights stay and the staff made such a huge difference to the holiday. Definitely highly recommend!…
A very friendly family run hotel, nothing was too much trouble.we had very clean comfortable rooms & all staff were approachable.we had lots of recommendations of where to visit which made our stay so lovely. We would highly recommend this hotel & definitely go back!
Beds are comfy and rooms are cleaned daily. Pool is small but nice and the little honesty bar is handy. Breakfast was delicious and we were full every morning. Shout out to the lovely breakfast ladies. The airport transfers provided were geeat with high quality cars and friendly drivers. We arrived early and were able to check into our room early. We were extremely disappointed that we werent advised to book the spa in advance as that was the main reason we booked this hotel. There was no availability during our entire stay. Also they claim to have rituals shower gel etc in the room but when empty they refilled with water so we actually hand hand soap only.
