We had a very pleasant stay here. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. The room is newly renovated. I enjoy relaxing rooms that offer air conditioning. We had a very delicious meal! The restaurant staff was friendly and the service was good.
We spent 4 days in the hotel. The location of the hotel is just perfect - it faces Mandalay Hill and you can go for long walks. The interior of the hotel and lobby are modern and nice, the pool area is very quiet. The service everywhere in the hotel incl. restaurants was just perfect, everybody was very nice and welcoming! Some areas of the hotel were under renovation but we did not notice any noise. The rooms are spacy and clean. The air con was not functioning properly but we got directly a new nice room. If you have "a sweet tooth", the hotel has a small shop where you can buy masterpieces of different cakes etc - really perfect to the eye and the taste! All in all it would have been a perfect stay but the breakfast was way below the standard of a 5-star hotel. There were just 3 options to choose from (1 asian and 2 continental - both very similar ones). We are aware that during Covid only a la card breakfast is available, but would have expected a much large choice of A-la-Card options - comparing to other hotels. Apart from that we were very happy with our stay and would love to return there some day when the situation changes.…
When I last visisted Mandaley in 2006, this hotel was the Sedona. Wth the Hilton taking over, I was pleasantly suprised that they had redone the lobby, restaurant (where breakfast is served) and the grounds and pool area - it really was in need of an update and they did a beautiful job. While I was there, they were in the process of redoing the rooms on one side of the hotel and plans were to start the other side in February 2020 (I never heard any noise during my stay due to the construction). The room I was in was comfortable, very clean, and had a view of the fort. The food at the restaurant was very good for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I love Pad Thai but was afraid to try it in Myanmar as I didn't think it would be as good as what I've had in Thailand - it turned out to be an exceptional Pad Thai! I was really sick when I arrived in Mandalay but was taken care of by the wonderful women at the front desk while there. So big "thank you" to a truly caring and wonderful group of people who were genuinely concerned. Beside the wonderful and helpful staff and redo of the property, what makes this hotel the place to stay is location, location, location! It is close to the fort, shops, restaurants and nearby attractions.…
I was waiting for my wife in the lobby of the hotel, when this big Indian hotel manager came to ask me what is my business in the hotel. So rude and demeaning. Didn’t introduce himself or explain who he is, and it was only at 7pm. Later I found out that his name is Kapur and he is a director there. Clearly the worst hotelier I have ever seen. He should be working at a dungeon hostel. Hotel room is old, dont get trick by its flashy lobby.
A nice property with good size rooms, good food and drink and a great pool area. Very friendly staff - to be honest I did not meet an unfriendly person in Myanmar. The hotel Is in a good location opposite the palace. A lovely place to stay.
Situated in a great location overlooking the palace wall. I really enjoyed my stay here. Our room was extremely comfortable with a great bed and good quality pillows and linen. The bathroom was a nit outdated and in need of modernising but nothing that you couldn’t live with. Breakfast was fantastic with a great choice and something for everyone. The pool area was lovely and well maintained. The most Bar was excellent with ice cold beer and wine. The staff were extremely helpful and professional
Got food posioning when eat the dinner. Too. Many mosquitoes. Airxon is too cold even switching to highest.. Shortage of staff in front desk and restaurant. Order a tea take 30mins as just 1 girl is working
Had a really great experience in the Cafe Mandalay at the Hilton Mandalay. Wai Nyein Thu and her colleague could not have been more attentive and friendly. Nice chatting with both of them. Food and service was amazing!
Unfortunately my three night stay was in the middle of the transition period of the hotel reflagging to the Hilton brand. The hotel should not have been charging the full rate while refurbishment was ongoing as the rooms were in a poor state as were some public areas of the hotel My first impression of the hotel on arrival was positive as the lobby area was fine and the girl who checked us in (Ei Ei?) was exceptional as she also assisted me with other aspects of my visit to Mandalay. My room wasn’t ready and I was provided with a temporary room which was actually very good. It was spacious, had a great view of the palace and I would have been content staying here for the duration of my visit......until the drilling started! Thankfully my designated room became available and despite again having a great view of the palace, some aspects of it were grim - particularly the bathroom. Finding a roach on the bedroom floor didn’t inspire confidence in the hygiene of the place either. The furniture was old, soundproofing was poor and the doors to the balcony had seen better days and certainly didn’t dampen the traffic noise or the ridiculous music that blasted out from the street below at 5am! The biggest disappointment however was the executive lounge offerings - probably the worst I have ever encountered in any hotel. The wine was poor and the food was dire. The only food on offer was provided on a cake stand by the staff - take it or leave it. There weren’t even any sweet offerings such as cakes or sweet pastries which is usually standard for an exec lounge. Was this a temporary ‘service’ or the standard food that this hotel provides to their exec room guests? If it was short term, then my rate should have reflected the limited offerings. The pool area was fine, however, the elevator in the wing my room was located turned out to be a converted service lift shared by staff and guests, however, clearly, it was certificated and refurbished (sort of) to accommodate guests. Hilton should have charged a discounted rate due to the condition of the hotel or even closed it down, but they seemed content to mug their guest while not providing what they advertise. I’m sure this hotel will come up to scratch one the refurbishment is complete, but I just felt short changed after this disappointing stay. Thankfully the staff that are a credit to the hotel, made up for some of the disappointment.…
