Our second stay here, first was in 2016, and although it was only one overnight now we enjoyed it much again.
Rooms are incredibly clean, food is fine.
However, our main reason to return at least for an overnight was to meet again the great old lady, mother of the owners, since we enjoyed the conversation s with her so much.

We arrived in Mandalay and were warmly welcomed by the staff!

During our 3 night stay their smiles, knowledge and willingness to answer and assist with our requests was much appreciated.

The staff helped with:
-laundry service
-cooked is delicious fried rice and noodles
-organized our travel (boat) to Began
-helped to call our hotel in Began as we needed an extra evening accommodation
-helped with taxis and organized a day driver/tour to the 3 ancient cities
-provided us early 545AM breakfast

Thanks much for being great hosts!

Ma Ma guesthouse is run by a mother and daughter team - elegant, cultured and extremely hospitable. They couldn't do enough for us even sending us off to Bagan with a home made lunch of noodles and fresh tomato salad and sending one of the team off to get us bananas. Its very much a family run affair with several generations in one house. The rooms are in an attached block - simple, clean and with excellent en suite bathrooms and a balcony running the length of the building. They will make homemade meals on demand and even offer to teach how to make Myanmar recipes. It is a little away from downtown, in a residential suburb but close to Mandalay hill and the palace.

This guesthouse is in a great local neighbourhood in a monastery lined street. It is one of the few value for money accommodation places we found in all of Burma on our 4 week adventure.
Very clean, friendly attentive staff, great breakfast all for $45usd per night. They have a set menu that needs to be prebooked which is superb for 7000kyat pp.

The room was nice the shower was exceptional and the family very sweet. I think Mandalay maybe one of the harder cities to get around unless you rent a motorbike or like taking a taxi everywhere. I myself like to walk and found that Ma Ma Guest House was located close enough to restaurants and a marionette show. I will certainly stay here again when I return to Mandalay.

Stayed here three times while travelling in northern myanmar. Friendly staff, do anything for you, great location if you can walk as 45 minutes walk to city centre past the palace island and moats. Breakfast adequate and youcan go next door for a main meal though if you really want to experience true fare, walk down the lane , turn left up the main road and there are several beer stations and restaurants up the road, go before seven or it may be a case of 'finished now'.! Excellent views from top floor of mandalay in evening and morning, monks collecting breakfast down the lane, young nuns in pink and the ever present sound of prayers and chants, so if a light sleeper, I recommend ground floor or the upper rooms toward the rear. Mama is a beautifully aged woman with a heart of gold and if lucky enough we will return!

Very friendly family. Knew who we were (remembered our names from the reservation) before saying our name. Refreshments on arrival.
Helped us arrange tour in the area and book taxis.
Nice breakfast with fruit, eggs and bread - or traditional.

This hotel’s success lies primarily in the friendly and helpful family that owns and manages it. They were always quick with a recommendation, and ordered us taxis, packed us breakfast, etc before we even had to ask for it.

The cooking class was highly enjoyable- done outside with a number of helpful staff. Beautiful set-up that is well-worth the price. Food was the best Burmese we had in Mandalay.

The rooms are clean and comfortable, if not brand-new or luxurious.

Mandalay is a big, bustling and sometimes confusing city. It was good to find Mama Guest House, a nice quiet place that felt like home for us. The hotel is run by two lovely people, Win and Sue. They welcomed us very graciously when we arrived and the cold, actually frozen, towelettes that they gave us were perfect! Everything that they did had a special touch. The guesthouse does not have a restaurant but they do offer to make meals at request. We had one night with torrential rain and we decided to have dinner in our room. Sue is a good cook and she made some great fried noodles and vegetables that were delicious. We were a group of four traveling together and at the end of our vacation in Myanmar. It was so nice to have a comfy place to recover from our long travels and prepare for our flight home.

We enjoyed our stay very much! This was definitely the most enjoyable stay during our whole trip around Myanmar. The owners are the loveliest and most helpful couple we have ever met and they really made our trip. We will definitely be back and we where very sad to leave:)
