When arriving at the hotel it's as if you in a different world. From the dusty, noisy streets of Mandalay you arrive in a green environment. The staff is very friendly, rooms are large but basic. Best thing of the hotel is the swimming pool. Prices of the food and drinks are all in USD and on the high side....

Nice hotel in the inner center of the city. Good location. Electricity not very stabel. Wifi also not very good. One of the taxi-drivers in the inner taxi-parking asked us afterwards more money than we agreed before the drive. Breakfast was very good. Hotel was clean

Poor rooms, poor power supply, noisy and we were glad to move on. The only redeeming features are location, the pool and wifi. Room location is dire, either 'call to prayer' loudspeaker which seems to be in your room or the generator during power cuts which feels like it is under your pillow. Located on a busy street it is...

The hotel is situated off a busy street but surrounded by tall buildings, therefor cuts out the traffic noise. Close enough to the Palace, gold leaf factory and jewelry shops. At first we were assigned a room on the third floor but the is no elevators at the hotel. So we requested a ground floor and was immediately reassigned. The...

Stayed 2 nights late March, a very basic hotel. The hotel was having a number of blackouts (as most of Myanmar does) and thus the hotel was reliant on their own generator. This meant that the air conditioning in the lobby and dining room and the wifi did not work. However, the hotel was comfortable and clean. Some disabled or...

Stayed 3 nights and were reasonably comfortable although the room was quite basic. But the important thing was that everything worked. Asked for a "garden room" which may have been a mistake as our sleep was disturbed by tour groups making early departures. Very limited safe eating choices nearby so ate dinner in the hotel each night with no problems....

This is not The Ritz, but doesnt pretend to be. Its a good, basic, city hotel. The rooms are small, basically furnished, with pretty poor views from the windows...largely into local apartments or the mosque. The aircon is poor...we switched room twice and still needed the engineer to 'fix' the air unit...it still struggled. Room otherwise is simple. Bathroom, similar....

Booking was seemless, answered emails promptly, wasn't first choice but was getting worried from reading other reviews, Mandalay is very much demand exceeds supply. Paid US$56.00 for a superior twin, overpriced as is most of the country. The check-in was fast, very competent front of house. Breakfast was exceptional, all kinds of bread, eggs as you like them, very good...

Hard to fault hotel, other than to condemn the slowest lifts in Asia. Only two, and sometimes jammed between floors.Easier to walk three flights than wait.Swimming pool was great but water too cold. Food good. American breakfast if desired. Rudyard Kipling bar. Wi-Fi very unreliable, yet was free. Staff eager to please. A good place to stay - but expensive.

We knew the hotel would be quite basic from the information were were provide by our tour operator, so the utilitarian layout of the rooms was not a surprise. Having said that, the bed was comfortable and the air conditioning, which was near the bed worked well. The bathroom is quite tired but clean and had everything you needed. We...
