Cosy atmosphere and the charming owner Monica can provide you with all kinds of information about Laos and places to do and see. Lovely breakfast with the best home-made marmelade in town! Friendly and personal service. A hidden treasure a bit outside of Luang Prabang.

If you look for a warm, cozy, home like stay - you found it. The rooms are simple but with charm and character. Monikas' breakfast and dinner is unique and great. Especially the homemade marmalade. We enjoyed very much the other guests and Monikas company at the dining table. We had a lot to talk and exchange experience and tips....

This is a great guest house with a lovely owner. Yummy dinner eaten together with her and the other guests and the best breakfast, that I have gotten in the past few weeks in Laos. And all of that in a wonderfully friendly atmosphere. Yes, I have really enjoyed my stay at the Jumbo Gh. The particular highlight of my...

During a recent visit to Hongsa I stayed at Monica's Jumbo Guesthouse. It's more like a homestay. I really enjoyed my stay. Monica is a great source of information about the area. She has four lovely dogs who join you when you walk to the market. The food was great. If you're there join Monica on one of her morning...

I stopped at the guesthouse for information on the area on a roadtrip from Vientiane to Luang Prabang. We had stopped in various places on the way including a night in Hongsa, and having a stop for european food and breakfast is really resting ! Monica helped us see the baby elephant that was born a month before and gave...

We stayed just a week, but we could have stayed forever. A wonderful time, relaxing at monicas terrace, enjoying her lovley home made food. We celebrated the art of doing nothing. In the background, monica arranged our unforgetable elephant trip with picnic in the jungle and surprise, surprise: next morning a huge, friendly elephant appeared in the garden, ready for...

We had a great time in Monica's eccentric and welcoming guesthouse and we stayed 5 nights. It is more like a home than a guesthouse, Monica has a guestroom like everyone else and all eat breakfast and dinner (cooked very well by Monica and her housekeeper) around a great communal table on the verandah. Rooms are clean and well equipped...

Not only the rooms are overpriced (100000 LAK for a room that was pretty much identical to the ones i stayed in previously for 50000), and Monica tends to ignore you politely if you ask for anything that wouldn't bring her immediate profit, when i inquired about the location of nearby elephant camps she openly refused to provide the information...

From our first few hours to our last, Monica and her lovely pets looked after us like friends. Hongsa is a great place to visit. Having already done the 2 day boat ride from Northern Thailand a few years ago, this route was the better option for us for a great experiance and Jumbo Guesthouse is the place to stay...

We stayed with Monica whilst on a 6 month trip away over a year ago and we were so glad we did. It was very relaxing and the food was great, we even were served up Christmas Pudding and it was set fire with the local brew Lao Lao. We went on an elephant ride to see how they are...

Welcome to your dream destination JUMBO GUESTHOUSE ON THE MEKONG! JUMBO GUESTHOUSE is situated in a unique and pristine spot on the riverbank of the Mekong. It’s a romantic hideaway in splendid isolation. The house counts 3 bedrooms (two upstairs and one downstairs) with private bathrooms. There is also a large upstairs veranda and sitting area, while the living room is an open space for our guests to eat and relax; while watching one of the most breathtaking view, over the Mekong and it's ever changing colors. The house is a short ride from the center, roughly 20 minutes by Tuk-Tuk or 30 min by bicycle. Free Wifi in all rooms and around the house! This accommodation is suitable for animal lovers since we have cats and dogs. This house is gay friendly! “There are only 4 rooms, 3 have bathrooms so ask for one if you want it. I would advise emailing, the place was full 4 out of the 5 nights we stayed.”

“Surprisingly, there's another guesthouse on the opposite (northern) side of town also named Jumbo. This one offers good value no-frills rooms, half again as cheap as at Monica's, but little English is spoken. There's also a number of local inns next to the market.”
