Quite possibly one of the most frustrating hotels to stay in- the experience should be five star all the way and sadly this is somewhat lacking due to lack of managerial experience on site and English language issues with staff. As such what should of been a highly slick hotel turned out to be at best a four star hotel... More

For almost fifty years, the writer has had a very special relationship with Luang Prabang. UNESCO saved the town from becoming another hodgepodge of buildings in order to retain its cultural setting. The Amantaka fits that concept perfectly. The Lao people are wonderfully kind and giving. Those working in the Aman are exceptional. The location, the staff, the food and... More

The hotel was decent and the decor was nice, but the hotel is on a terminal decline. It felt empty and a little strange, and the fact that Aman could care less about what guests think (via even responding on TripAdvisor) shows just how much the company has slipped. The hotel didn't even make an attempt to help us plan... More

Spent 4 nights this august. What an incredible resort ! Beautiful garden, lovely staff, big pool to cool after a day of excursions in this wonderful area, a dreaming room .... Compared to other resorts in the area, Amantaka is one step beyond in every sense. Good food too, both for breakfast and dinner. For winter time you can use... More

We stayed here for 2 nights and really enjoyed the property (it's beautiful, in a minimalist way... and if you like colonial, you'll really like this). Our room was a bit noisy as there was a school nearby, but otherwise was appointed very nicely. The pool is great, and the food was pretty good... I wouldn't travel to Laos for... More

We have just left Amantaka 5 Star Hotel in Luang Prabang, Laos. It is located well We were greeted by the hotel staff at the airport who escorted us to the visa desk which usually takes about 15 mins to process so it was suggested that we leave our passports there and he'll drive us to the hotel and he... Amantaka is probably the most beautiful hotel in Luang Prabang. Unlike most hotels where the staff have been trained to be hospitable to the guests, the Amantaka staff were genuinely naturally nice people. The hotel premises are beautiful and spacious, nice pool, spa and gym. We had a very relaxing time there and we enjoy chatting to the staff there.... More

Luang Prabang is developing its tourism fast, and the gradual loss of innocence is palpable - for example in the tourist behavior at the early morning alms giving on the main drag. Amantaka however preserves this unspoiled feel. A sanctuary in this UNESCO World Heritage town, its approach is symbolized by the respectful way in which the alms giving is... More
