The name Dalabua means "Lotus Princess" which perfectly describes the refreshing character of our charming boutique hotel surrounded by UNESCO classified ponds. Maison Dalabua stands on one of the most serene location in Luang Prabang away from the hustle and bustle of the Peninsula, we are just 3 minutes walk from the historical center with easy access to the night market, royal palace and historical temples & buildings. The hotel features 40 rooms set in a tropical environment with different maisons scattered around the property. All rooms are furnished in an elegant blend of traditional Lao contemporary design, with all modern amenities. The spa and swimming pool are the best places to chill out after a long day in town. As the sun goes down while sipping a drink on the deck of Manda de Laos, our Laotian restaurant, watch the sunset and the secret view of Mount Phousi before a romantic dinner.

Four of us spent 3 nights at Maison Dalabua in Luang Prabang. We loved the city adn the hotel was very satisfactory. The setting, with tropical gardens and lily ponds, is lovely (although obviously prone to mosquitos). Breakfast provided by the hotel was specially good, with delicious, French-style 'puddings' and pastries. Don't bother about the breakfast boxes provided or early departers, though (half a dry sandwich and some biscuits).

There were a couple of disappointing aspects, though: 1) Our rooms and balconies were gloomily dark and the bathroom decor involved unpainted concrete; 2) the bar and lunch/dinner restaurant belong to a separate business (Manda de Laos) and I'm afraid the food and drinks were both expensive and unexciting. Furthermore, you couldn't charge these items to your room bill. You had to pay separately, which is a minor nuisance.

Spent three nights here in a Grand Deluxe double room. Our room was very comfortable and well equipped. Sleep quality very good. However, there was limited draw and hanging space for clothes. We had expected our room to be provided with dressing gowns but sadly not. Staff were excellent and welcoming. We found the hotel really peaceful. Breakfast choices could be improved and it was only on the last morning of our stay were we offered omelettes etc and coffee was brought to table. Up until then it had been a fully serve yourself buffet. On check-out a credit card fee was charged. The onsite restaurant is separately managed from the hotel and dinner here was good. No credit card fee is charged by the restaurant but payment is required at the end of the meal and cannot be signed for. Maison Dalabua is a short stroll from the centre of lovely Luang Prabang. A gem.

Spent four lovely days at Maison Dalabua. Never wanted to leave! The atmosphere with white stucco buildings around the lily ponds is totally serene, and the air-conditioned, wood-paneled rooms with large glass doors and windows made for a welcome retreat from the heat. The breakfast buffet was first-class, as was lunch and dinner at the restaurant. We tried other restaurants in town; none were as good as Maison Dalabua's restaurant (or as lovely a setting). Further, the staff do their utmost to make one feel at home. The hotel picked us up and returned us to the train station; had complimentary bicycles available to tour the town; and arranged a very pleasant sunset riverboat cruise (which had nice western soft rock unlike the techno music other boats were blasting, and it had two high, covered platforms for viewing). The only minus for the hotel is the pool, which is shallow, small, and the area around it is not really conducive for relaxing. But if you don't care about the pool, this is a fantastic place to stay.

I will start with the good. The property grounds are absolutely beautiful. The lotus ponds and gardening throughout the property make it one of the prettiest properties I have stayed at. We stayed in an over water bungalow which was spacious, comfortable, and right on the lotus pond. The breakfast was the best we had while in Laos. The breakfast staff and grounds keeping staff were all friendly. Unfortunately the front desk staff dropped the ball on a few occasions which made the stay less than great. On check in to our hotel I asked the receptionist if I could add an additional night to our stay as were were flying out quite late on our original departure day. The clerk checked and our room was vacant but he said he needed to check with "service" and would get back with us. After 48 hours I hadn't heard anything so I checked with a different clerk who looked and said that our room had booked up and an additional night would not be possible. She offered to let us shower in the spa and hold our luggage but I feel they dropped the ball due to no/poor communication and we had to adjust our last day plans because of it. Secondly I asked someone at the front desk if they could help book a tuk tuk to Kuang Si falls. He said yes he could book a tuk tuk but that we should take a van instead. I told him that we were okay with a tuk tuk and he said that he could get us a van for only $75, this is about what we paid to come by private van from Vang Vieng! I asked him what the price was for a tuk tuk and he quoted $35 which is approx 315,000 KIP. I knew this was high based on some reading so we walked to the corner and got a tuk tuk for 200,000 KIP without any haggling. I understand a markup for the convenience but a %35 markup? Lastly we checked out bikes from the front desk to explore town which is a nice offering, unfortunately the brakes on both of the bikes we checked out didn't work properly and my wife's chain made a pretty terrible sound. If the bikes are going to be offered to the guests they do need a little maintenance from time to time. This is a lovely property and the rooms are comfortable, unfortunately our experience with the front desk staff was less that stellar and for that reason we can only give it three stars.

Dear Chickenlips79 Thank you for taking the time to sharing your recent stay with us. While we always strive to deliver a superlative experience for each and every guest at our hotel, please accept my sincere apologies that in this case we failed to meet both your expectations and our own high standards. As a World Luxury Hotels Award-winning for the 3rd consecutive year, we take pride in delivering excellent service to our guests—and it is a matter I take very personally whenever a guest departs the hotel without fond memories of their stay. As explained by Mr Khamput the day you request a Late Check out, we had another arrival for your room and couldn't guarantee you a late check out. Our Check In Time is at 2PM and we didn't know next guest's arrival time, we inform you that we will try to contact them to know their arrival time and see if we could arrange a later departure for you at no cost. As we never received an answer from the other guests' side we needed to guarantee for their arrival at 2PM as for our check-in policy. Therefore the only option our staff could offer was to use the spa for showering. Concerning the tuk-tuk situation, we do not offer tuk-tuk services as to guarantee our guests' safety. The way they drive is becoming a big issue on the roads nowadays and that is the reason why our staff would suggest the minivan since it is the service we provide for our guests. Also, please note that prices may differ among tuk-tuk drivers considering bargains and our staff would give an estimating cost from their own experience. Thoughtful feedback is a gift, and we thank you for offering these suggestions to help us improve the Maison Dalabua experience. We value you as a guest, and look forward to the prospect of welcoming you back to our hotel for a future visit. Warm regards,

I loved this hotel in so many ways ....
The proximity to Luang Prabang itself was a great advantage and the sheer beauty of the water features / gardens was such a surprise as we walked round the back .... l

My room with its balcony overlooking the gardens was gorgeous . Breakfast was delicious and the one evening meal we ate was absolutely first class .

This is a little gem of a hotel . I really didn’t want to leave !

Thank you .

We were blown away by the Masion Dalabua Hotel. It is a little paradise. The lotus ponds and the gardens are amazing, with so many beautiful plants which were tended with such care.
The staff were very helpful and courteous. The breakfast was fab, with loads of choice and it was a really special experience to enjoy our breakfast overlooking the beautiful lotus ponds.
Our room was great, we overlooked the pool area.
The centre of Luang Prabang is a short stroll away and the town itself is really interesting with lots to see and do. We also felt very safe wandering around.

This hotel is fantastic! The surroundings are beautiful and peaceful. The pool chairs are like bean bags and so comfortable. No kids when we were here not sure if it’s adult only but it was a delight. The breakfast was nice, lots to choose from but quite French orientated.
The rooms really lovely- the pillows are the best I’ve had in any hotel! Made for en extremely comfortable sleep. The hotel staff come in and replenish water and towels twice a day which is great. We used the laundry service and that was fantastic too.
The staff are always friendly and helpful and saying hello when they see you around the property.
It’s such an easy walk to the town centre from here also and as two girls it felt really safe to do so which we did every night. No need for a tuk tuk.
I would recommend and definitely come back again!

Just returned from a few days the Maison Dalabua boutique Hotel which we can't rate highly enough, an oasis in the city. The place is a stunning with super surroundings, great pool and restaurant.

Luang Prabang is a UNESCO World heritage site, this place will take your breath away, we did a 3 week trip to Vietnam, Laos & Cambodia (we used ODYNOVO Tours who gave us a 5* service) and without doubt all four of us (advancing in years travellers) voted this place as our favourite.
The people are just so nice & friendly, no hassle from any market traders or street sellers, just a super relaxing place to visit.
Bars and restaurants are very reasonably priced and the clothes etc. on the market stalls are Soooooooooooooo cheap it's churlish to barter for them, remember these people suffered so much at the hands of western countries which have left the country one if not THE poorest in the world.
Temples are just magnificent.

We found this hotel t be completely relaxing. The hotel I set in beautiful gardens with Lilly ponds. The rooms are large and clean and the beds are the best we have had. Breakfast is varied and served outside which on a couple of mornings you could have done with a jumper.
The pool is small and cold but it was never too busy.
The only thing we couldn’t work out was that there was no bar or chill area. The hotel shares the grounds with the Manda de Laos restaurant that seems to have control of that side of the business , they have casual tables but they are set for dinner and as far as I know you have to book and can’t just sit there for a drink.

We had a wonderful 6 night stay at this gorgeous Maison.
Our Grand Deluxe Heritage room was a good size and included standard amenities such as tea & coffee making facilities , fridge and mini bar. The bathroom appeared newly refurbished and included a large bath which I don’t believe is standard for all rooms. Also a large walk in shower. TV and wifi reception was good. The best feature was the view from the balcony which overlooked the most beautiful ponds and gardens which meandered throughout the property and were just stunning and make the property what it is.
The dining areas were totally open with the surrounding ponds and gardens again so beautiful. The breakfast selection was good and we enjoyed a lovely meal one night in the restaurant. The pool wasn’t huge however being a boutique property it was adequate. The pool side lounges were the most comfortable lounges ever - during busy times there would be more demand than supply.
The location was great and around a 5-7 minute walk to the main drag. We took advantage of the bikes most days and loved cycling through the gorgeous town and laneways. Luang Prabang is lovely and we spent most of our 6 days walking and cycling at a very slow pace just soaking up the vibe.
The staff were all lovely in particular Andrea who I had communicated with before our arrival so lovely to meet her face to face. She was wonderful but sadly in the face of coronavirus I imagine she may have headed back to Europe.
Wishing the entire team all the best over the coming months and I hope when things bounce back you come back with a vengeance , bigger and better than ever.
Julie & Steve
