We are so warmly welcomed ever since we walk into the hotel, the whole hotel is a historic building once owned by the governor. The swimming pool is very large and we enjoy that so much, we tried a very delicious French-Lao cuisine in the Governor's Grill bar, the amazing spa, the wonderful breakfast and the afternoon tea. Room is very large with a private garden with sofa, a pavilion with a bathtub, inside the room there is another bathtub and a separate shower room. The welcome desert is very tasty and capsule coffee is provided. Once you stay in the hotel, you don't need to go outside for tour anymore, the hotel is a tourism spot with so much fun.

The staff were more than kind enough to make it a heartwarming experience.
Perhaps because there are only 25 rooms in total, the building was spacious and very relaxing.
A rabbit appeared in the garden, which was soothing.
There was a bathtub both inside and outside in the room, so we enjoyed a very luxurious bath time. I would like to come again.
At the end, the staff saw us off with a smile, which warmed my heart once again.
There was plenty of water and towels in the room, and it was clear that the staff were looking out for us every time.

For our first visit to Luang Prabang we chose the Sofitel as it looked like a small boutique Sofitel experience and we were not disappointed.

From the moment we were collected at the airport to the staff waving us goodbye we had 5 wonderful nights at the Sofitel, where nothing was too much trouble and they went over and above to create a warm, welcoming and fabulous experience for us.

There was a welcome basket of Laos snacks and drinks in the car and then check in was seamless and professional. We ere shown to our amazing suite which was above our expectations and did not disappoint at all. It was simply stunning, from the large four poster bed to the sitting room, outdoor area with a gorgeous bath and a bathroom with another bathtub that was incredible.

The grounds are beautifully maintained and so peaceful and well thought out it was so lovely to walk around and explore the koi pond, the hammock and the overall gorgeous ambience.

The pool is also fabulous and even though it is always warm because we are in the summer it was still refreshing to dive in and enjoy the wet. The area around the pool was also fabulous with a day bed, loungers and and seating area if you don’t want to lay by the pool, all well thought out and comfortable.

I want to personally mention some staff who really impressed and made our stay even more enjoyable.

Anshul the general manager was always incredibly professional, welcoming and friendly yo us and went over and above to ensure we had a good stay.

Unni is the food and beverage manager and was also professional, welcoming and proud of the great team he has surrounding him to make our dining experience so enjoyable.

Yod on reception as well as Champa and Ning were always helpful, professional, welcoming and accommodating which just added another level tomorrow stay. They always remembered us by name and were thoughtful and considerate in all of our interactions with them. Yod was especially a real asset and the Sofitel should be proud of the way he does his work as nothing was too much trouble.

Sofitel has a sister property in Luang Prabang, 3 Nagas M Gallery which offers some fantastic Loation food that was so good we had to go because it was really that good. Again the staff here were fantastic and I need to mention Min who sensational in her service, welcome and professional way she looked after us.

Breakfast was always fabulous whether a la Carte or the buffet and the staff did a great job each morning and the fabulous local musician playing a traditional Laotian musical instrument each morning just added something special at breakfast time.

The was such a treat and I cannot more highly recommend the Sofitel Luang Prabang because they really do go over and above to make your stay a memorable one and they should be so proud of the incredible work they do to make their guests feel so welcome.

If you are planning to go to Luang Prabang then this is the hotel for you. There is more I could say but I think you get the drift that we loved our stay here!

Oh and the gym was good too!

Well done to the whole team.

Magnificent setting of this hotel located in a former prison but rest assured there is no feeling of confinement.
The small pavilions surround a very large, well-maintained garden where a few rabbits roam and let themselves be petted.
The beautiful 25 m long swimming pool is matched by a very pretty pool decorated with goldfish, lotus and other flowers.
The room is spotless (small downside on the water pressure in the shower) with a small garden for sunbathing in the morning on a sofa or in the outdoor bathtub.
Nothing is missing in terms of amenities in the room. Little delicious touches every day.
Local or European breakfast with good products
Small massage of the shoulders, neck and back offered in the morning
In short, we spent 6 wonderful nights and 6 days, especially thanks to a smiling and attentive staff who do everything to make your stay easier.
A high class hotel!

This is where you go if you want to write a novel or want to carry on an amazing romantic affair or want to write a novel about carrying out an amazing affair. For my wife and I this place was very close to perfect. Arrival at this hotel doesn’t have the same theatrics of other places in South East Asia (just two gongs) but it’s what’s down the tiled stairway that sets it apart. It feels like you are going back in time and Graham Greene could be staying there. No theatrics needed.

The hotel itself was a french colonial governors fort and has around 25 rooms spread out across an immaculately manicured garden. It’s a tranquil paradise. The internal courtyard is split into quadrants with a gorgeous dark tiled pool taking up almost one half. The other half consists of a Lily pound and a vegetable garden which the head chef uses to prepare your delicious farm to table meals. Our corner room at the back of the property was large and tastefully decorated with a large bed which had mosquito netting adding to the south East Asian aesthetic. The bathroom was split into two sections with the bathtub and shower sitting just outside the back door giving it a naturalist feel. Along with shuttered colonial windows and a gorgeous outdoor patio I was ready for a gin and tonic and a nap.

As stated above the property also has a superb, outdoor restaurant serving a fusion of western and Laotian farm to table meals. We had breakfast daily and dinner once. All absolutely amazing. The head chef is very hands on and available and I’m guessing those with dietary requirements would find him open to a conversation. Our food and beverage experience was perfect. We tend to eat local meals when we travel and did here as well with the exception of a breakfast. All fantastic.

Lastly, the staff were just amazing! The nicest, most courteous staff we have run into in years. From the moment you woke up to the end of the day they were kind and available. I cannot speak highly enough about the staff at this hotel. They arrange numerous different excursions for us during our stay and were constantly asking what they could do to help. They really did make us feel like the center of the universe even though we were just part of the day to day. We are already planning our return to this location. I could go on and on but it was just superb.

Very, very good hotel! From the moment you enter the hotel, all the waiters will make you feel at home. Because I have three children, I was immediately upgraded to a room. The room is very large and there is a bathtub in the back garden. The atmosphere is super good. As for the hotel’s environment, take a look at the photos! Although there are not many types of breakfast, it is enough to satisfy the taste buds of people from Asia, Europe and the United States. During the conversation with Keilli, I casually mentioned that tomorrow is my eldest son’s birthday. At breakfast the next day, as soon as our family sat down, all the waiters in the restaurant sang happy birthday. Keilli, Bat, Vee, Phone, and Mok carried the The birthday cake came to the eldest son, which surprised the young man. He was touched and surprised, and he was grinning from ear to ear. The hotel gives you the feeling of a home, with free afternoon tea, free horse-killing chicken experience, friendly smiles, thoughtful service, and a superior location. To travel to Central, you can walk or ride the bicycle provided by the hotel, or take a shuttle bus provided by a Hong Kong grandpa (it feels like meeting an old friend in a foreign country, and the old man is very kind). Having breakfast before checking out this morning, chatting with Souk made us reluctant to leave this hotel.
I highly recommend this hotel to everyone, whether it’s a vacation for parents-in-law or a family trip with children!

This boutique hotel is a peaceful haven in the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage site, perfect for slow living and nature-filled relaxation. The spacious rooms, beautifully decorated with Lao silk and local items, offer private gardens with bathtubs for tranquil soaking.

The restaurant serves delicious fusion dishes and authentic Lao cuisine, made with fresh produce from the hotel’s organic garden. Breakfast is equally delightful, featuring a wide variety of options.

The grounds are serene, with shaded lawns, a large pool surrounded by greenery, and a charming spa in a heritage house.

Special thanks to K. Pookie, K. Pingpong, and the team for their outstanding hospitality. Their warm service made our stay unforgettable. Having visited in 2023 and returned with my family in 2024, I’m thrilled to say the experience remains exceptional.

If you’re heading to Luang Prabang, Sofitel Luang Prabang is a must-visit for its beauty, delicious food, and heartfelt service.

We are a couple aged 55 and 61. We came from Cambodia from a top-run hotel that set the bar so high that I decided to stay at the Sofitel in Luang Prabang despite the high price.
As we travel a lot, I can immediately assess the circumstances when checking into a hotel - a lot of work needs to be done, renovated and repaired. The reception was friendly. We booked a pool villa at short notice, a special upgrade for €500. That night, when I got to the room, I immediately noticed that the standard was by no means five stars or justified the price of €500. I immediately went to reception, everyone took care of me and offered me a much better price, the entire staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Pookie Chef Concierge made sure we didn't lack for anything. The manager and his team invited us to dinner on the first evening. Again, the staff are very friendly and very helpful - the Sofitel Group simply needs to reinvest.
Garden, cool, both the architecture, a dream!
Breakfast was sufficient.
The restaurant in the city, which belongs to the Sofitel, is in a beautiful, old colonial house with a lot of history, excellent service and an excellent dinner. Thank you for the shuttle service from the Sofitel Hotel - to the city is free and works perfectly. We'll be back!

It starts with the staff--they all are really proud of the hotel and their enthusiasm and willingness to make things happen for starts at the top. The gong announcing an arrival, and a thorough briefing by the very helpful and polished Vard sets a high standard everyone lives up to. The 'smallest Sofitel' delivers big-time in amenities, ability to make it comfortable to see Luang Prabang in all its glory. Easy transfers to downtown and using the complimentary bikes made getting around a snap. Add on an extra day in town just to enjoy the spot. The private garden and outdoor soaking tub adjacent to the large bathroom are plusses, as is the superb omelettes in the morning.

This hotel should be on the best list not just for Luang Prabang but it shows a standard of care and serenity not often achieved.

From the moment you walk in the ease of entering into the courtyard’ s palm and lantern pathways with an open air reception desk is consistent with the atmosphere of this city in Laos. Lush, tropical, unassuming beauty. I’m thankful for Te to be the person to check in and show care to us, even seeing at breakfast how our travels were. I noticed a staff person was looking for my door to open to receive bags at the time hotel knew flight checkout, for both of us who had different flight times. Impeccable timing and easy going atmosphere, without being stuffy is what I really enjoy.

The rooms have a modern and spacious bed and bathroom. The crown jewel was the back courtyard with black soaking tub. I took to the tub water after a great day while my friend had the interior bathroom with a separate tub and shower at her disposal. Any and every need at this resort is taken care of and they receive the highest rating.

Wondering how often the management check reviews and respond?
Luang Prabang, Laos9 contributions
Dear Relax1878, On a regular day, the management check reviews everyday and respond as quickly as they could however due to the pandemic situation and increasing cases around and in Laos, the management also has to be with their family to stay safe and wont be much working on hotel computer. Therefore during these days, there might be delay in responding to your queries or reviews. We hope you understand and we do apologize for this. Stay safe also. Best regards, Jed & Team

Does this hotel have club facilities for Accor members?
Luang Prabang, Laos9 contributions
Bonjour Sabaidee Ms. hidee5, Greetings from Sofitel Luang Prabang. Unfortunately, as of now, we don't have a specific lounge or club facilities for Accor members however we do have a huge outside garden, open restaurant, and nice pool area. This property is the smallest Sofitel so far in terms of the number of rooms which makes the environment peaceful and private. If you have further questions, please let us know. Thank you for your interest in our property and looking forward to welcoming you to our hotel. Best, Jed & Team

No worry, December/January in Luang Prabang doesn’t have a freezing weather like other country. It’s still will be a sunny day most of the time. Average templature is around 20-25’C in the day time. Night time might be below 20’C. So you still can spend great moment at the swimming pool.
